Lily’s parents worked for a now bankrupt corp in Vancouver. Some employees got snapped up by corps, but not hers - talented programmers but labeled  troublemakers when they escalated shady deals their manager made. The mgr intercepted the report, destroyed it then made sure they weren’t hired after the bankruptcy announcement.

Lily’s parents took on legal work for a while, day jobs and the like but not enough work to pay the bills. Facing eviction, they took less savory jobs in the shadow economy. A job gone wrong got mom killed. Dad did the best he could raising Lily on his own, but between her school and his work, they didn’t see much of each other. One night, 8 months ago, he didn’t come home.

Wandering around downtown at sunset, Lily heard singing. Following the sound, she found the source in an empty church: a slender young woman with pink and blonde hair.

Maisie, the Oracle, said something cryptic and goofy athat made Lily feel better.

Lily became one of the Oracle’s attendants. They used the church to help local orphans with food and shelter.

Lily Samara is a 15-year-old teenager who enjoys going to the movies, reading and badminton. The Sibyl and oracle maidens don’t make a lot of money so any earnings are shared. Going out is a treat. Sometimes, people give items instead of credits. That is how The Oracle temple came to own a badminton set.

She is affable and well-mannered, but can also be a bit vain and detached. She is Canadian. She didn't finish school - Lily hated the mean nuns, who seemed to take more enjoyment out of punishment over education. So she ran away. Lily has a severe phobia of water, following an incident at the school where several girls were found drowned in the garden pond. She enjoys with walking through the city, looking for urban wildlife.
