Engineers are in short supply in the city of Prosperios. No matter how many are brought in, the demand is always higher. And it's risky, hard labor, scaling massive heights or in close quarters with the great furnaces and steam engines. Throughout the metropolis, strikes and riots are increasingly common as the working class buckles under the weight of its impossible burden...

...But that's not what they want you to see. Everything is good. Everything is fine here. Keep working, take pride in your work, and you will have pride in your city. So the rhetoric says. Bex isn't sure if she buys it, but she keeps her head down and her mouth shut. Dark elves have only just been reaching a tentative stability within the populous. She doesn't want to shake that balance now.

Like many subsets of drow, she came to the city for opportunity. Specifically, she is working towards an advanced certification in steam engineering. The grimy gloves and worksuit of a mechanic may not be attractive, but it paid better than the homelands, where much above ground was barren wastes and the tunnels governed by ruthless caste systems. Granted Prosperios had its own castes, but at least it was an easier in. Yet the crammed apartments with their endless stream of tenants and paper-thin walls were not exactly pleasant to retire to. More and more, she spent her time spelunking in the depths beneath the city, where endless labyrinths of pipe-lined passages run.

It was here she stumbled across Paladin, a restless expert assigned to solve Prosperios' ongoing power and transportation problems. While hardly a people person, he shared a kindred spirit in his frustration with the city's true issues, the desire to fix them, and his passion for machines. Paladin's unstable and alienated personality touched something in Bex, and she felt the urge to check in on him often.

This proved to be a boon when a mysterious lavender-haired woman simply appeared in her apartment.

Managing engines and valve networks is one thing. Managing Sundae, Paladin, Aetherios, Nemicus, and all the havoc they seem to attract is another. Bex does not know what the future holds, but she suspects that Prosperios' uneasy scales may be on the verge of a tip.

  • Personality

Pragmatic but soft-spoken, Bex is the logical voice too often ignored. Her mannerisms are shy by comparison, but her mind is keen, and her wrench just as so. A problem-solver, she is less likely to bring it up than to do it, and her body is often coated in a layer of grime from the machinery.

She likes animals, rainstorms, small curiosity stores, and talking shop with Paladin. Someday she hopes to obtain a piece of a meteorite, and keeps a small oddities collection.

She is particularly close to Aetherios, who takes time to listen to her, and feels a clear kinship due to their similar appearances. For his own safety, she often educates him on aspects of the world.

She likes electroswing music, and sometimes, imagining what she would do in a nice dress.

  • Favorite Color Orange, brown, green
  • Favorite Food Meat soups, savory roast, dessert pudding
  • Fashion

As a mechanic, Bex's daywear is a tool-laden jumpsuit, with appropriate gloves, safety goggles, and thick boots. She doesn't own expensive clothes, instead favoring cheaper, simpler options. Doesn't stop her from dreaming though.
