they’re very fun to dress! But there are definitely styles I have a really hard time with. My style for them is similar to my own, so it gives me a good start

Modeling the shirt I made him last night. I want to offer more of these designs in my shop, but my current method isn’t very efficient. Going to change things up.

This was my first one, so I’m sure all are different! The fairy garden seemed like something they added to fill in space. Has a nice ambiance though~

His wreath is just some ribbon I got at the hobby store ^^

Introducing a new family member 😗

I decided a while back that all of my dolls would be robot characters. I may expand one day but for now I like that consistency. With that in mind, I felt comfortable pursuing making dolls of Chii and Freya from Chobits which is one of my most beloved series. I settled on using DD icon heads for them since I really love the realistic styled dollfies. I found the base doll for Chii first, so she is the first one completed!

Chii was originally Nikki. I had to wipe her completely instead of a partial wipe like with all my other dolls. Scary stuff.

She’s supposed to look more artificial than my other robots. I’ve been told she’s a little spooky, but that lines up well with the vision. She is heavily based on the manga as well. When I am able to make Freya, there are some things I’d tweak like her eye color and making smoother accessories, but this is fine for now.

I need to bond with her still, but I am happy to have her!

She looks so lovely! The semi real style of the icon series heads works very well for her and I'm sure she will fit right in with the others in your robot doll family  

Wow. Officially my favorite Nikki. I already liked her face, but as well-done as the Volks default paint is, I always look forward to seeing these limited models in custom faceups. You recreated the soft and doll-like look for her with the blush and how you styled her lips, and the way the wig frames her face is perfect.

Do the eyes make her a little more ethereal? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Heck no; they hearken back to the manga well. She has all of Chii's softness and innocence with a touch of melancholy. Exactly what you'd want her to be. I only know a little of Chobits, but from what I remember, you've truly nailed her.

Also, congratulations on your first Ren Faire! 9s seems like a perfect companion for that, and the unicorn horn is such an elegant adornment, ideally themed. Did your friend make yours as well as his? What were your favorite parts? Did you get to have any fun 'twin' moments?

I am seriously in awe of your outfit-making skills. Sure, you are a regular crafter, but the variety. Putting that cosplay knowledge to work on smaller scale big-time. Lots of doll tailors find their niche and then sew that thing for a while, but when I see your work, I feel like you could make anything you wanted at the drop of a hat. (With lots of planning, trial and error, of course) And you'd do it, which is even better. The Taishio-era outfits are lovely, and again, I feel that the first shot could be a promotional for Volks, easily.

I also love seeing custom Icons. It was a custom Serra that convinced me to get one since I also think the defaults are well done, but the glam makeup isn’t my style at all. She really opened my eyes to how beautiful the sculpts are!

Regarding Chii, im admittedly still bonding with her. She’s maybe 93% of what I want because her eyes bother me a bit. I would like to find a pair that is still empty but goes from dark to light since I think that’ll read as a smidge cuter. I’ve seen it pulled off well, so I know it’s possible. Having her sister one day will help too I think!

For the Ren Faire, yes my friend made both horns! That is her full time business so I had many options to choose from. I had a few nice conversations about 9S, so I’m glad I brought him. There wasn’t much benefit outside of a few silly pictures though, so I’d rather cosplay in the future. I love cosplay so much that I prefer to do that whenever I can. 
 

On outfits— Seriously thank you so much! Cosplay absolutely contributes to the range. It builds familiarity with a lot of methods and materials. I think it nurtures a good mindset where the attachment to the character pushes you to try things too. 

A few pictures from Hawaii. I’ve fallen out of practice using my SLR so I challenged myself to take most of the pictures using it this time (and haven’t edited them yet). In the mean time though, these are from my phone. 
An outfit of the day shot. They wore this to a park.

And some night time shots. I went out hoping to get the sunset, but I went too late and we were facing the wrong direction anyway. These are consolation

I learned to sew just so I could make doll clothes ahaha! So it’s definitely possible.

Yes! Im surprised by how much I love the SD style heads. It’s fun trying to make them all feel cohesive 

That last shot of them on the beach is so lovely! It definitely does give that early 90s energy, I can already hear the ending credits now haha.

Those pants are one of the first things I made for 9S. I wanted a baggy street style look but somehow I’ve never been able to pattern it correctly. In hindsight the fabric choice was probably bad. Oh well

Thank you! 2B’s outfit is from Melody C. She has a lot of lolita already, so I wanted something with a different silhouette 😄

Thank you so much!! I’m glad you like my doll pictures. My dolls have made me very happy ehehe 

I gave Chii a makeover! I haven’t been completely satisfied with her which I can’t stand. If I don’t love how a doll looks, I do not want it in my collection which is upsetting when I have a doll I really want to work out. 😭 My vision of using an icon head to make Chii was clear, so I knew I had to make her work. 

It started with giving her new eyes. I painted these, and they’re not super impressive, but I think this look works better for her. She looks quite different from the other dolls now, but I think that works out too.

I also adjusted her faceup. She now has teeth to make her lips appear less full and I stylized her lashes to make her appear friendlier. She feels more Clamp to me now which makes me happy! Eventually I will make her a new outfit and do a more extravagant shoot.
