kastalia Posted July 23, 2014 Hello! I don't have a DD at home to check, but I was wondering about posing. I've seen a few pictures of DDs sitting cutely/swarikko. I love this pose and when I get my own DD I'd love to pose her this way. Searches online don't really turn anything up, and I actually went to the Volks store near where I live and asked the clerk. I don't know if she was just being cautious, but she told me it's possible but not advisable. So anyway, I'd love to hear what the good people of this forum have to say on the topic. How easy is it to get DDs to sit that way? Is it harmful to the joints/interior skeleton? If you have more than one DD body-type on hand, is there a difference in getting them to sit cutely? I really appreciate the help! Thanks in advance!
Ayuuya Posted July 23, 2014 DD suwarikko by merongie, on Flickr It's very easy to get them to sit suwarikko style ^^ Whether or not it damages the joints/interior skeleton... I can't say, since I've only had my girls for a few months & I usually don't have them sitting like this. Howeverrrr, unless your girls are wearing something that will cover their knee area you will see their knee joint veeeeery clearly. DD suwarikko by merongie, on Flickr Here I've pulled down my Youmu's knee socks so you can see the gapping a bit. I found that I had to slouch them over a bit while posing, so they don't topple backwards~ DD suwarikko by merongie, on Flickr 8'D Since you can't see how the knees look on Kosmos, a DDIII body -- here is how it looks when Saber Alter does it. When it's covered it's ok, but when not it's rather wonky looking. Personally I didn't have any problems putting the DDIII & DDS bodies into this pose. While I didn't dobleepent it, each girl was easily able to do the poses I've posted. Sabers pose in particular shows how close their calf can get to their thigh, you can also do this pose with their knees closer together. Both Youmu & Kosmos show how close I was able to get their knees together while in this pose ^^ I hope this helps~
foo Posted July 23, 2014 Mitsuki also has a good example here, viewtopic.php?f=51&t=10715 The biggest problem is definitely the knees, but otherwise it looks very good.
Galvatim Posted July 23, 2014 DDIII and DDS can take this pose pretty easily, but don't leave it for very long, since the vinyl of the upper leg piece can be deformed. This is probably the damage the Volks clerk was talking about.
Poofiemus Posted July 23, 2014 As I recall, DDS/DDIII/DDDyIII can do it, but the DDII/original DDDy can't. Similarly, the III-frame girls can do the splits, which the DDII-frame girls can't. Hopefully someone who's got both types in their family can confirm--even if not, I'll probably do my own tests when Miku finally gets here later this year, with Obi50 tossed in for good measure. (Homura won't really *like* it, but she poses so well in general I can't resist making her do it! XD) In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. Jezrah Posted July 23, 2014 Additionally both versions of MDD can do it, but again, I wouldn't leave her in that position for super long. This was with an MDDII body.
kastalia Posted July 24, 2014 Thanks so much for your responses (and super cute pics!) OK then, the clerk was just being cautious and I'm actually quite relieved to hear it's possible to do the swarikko pose. That's good to know about the knees issue as well. I'm thinking when I invest in a vinyl girl, the DDIII body will work best for her character. From what I've seen, DD posing is really good!

But you SERIOUSLY have to dislocate their knees because of the shape of the thigh vinyl around the kneecap. Best done with socks on. Homura will look really cute doing that pose. I think it's much easier than trying to do it with a DD though, since the body comes apart at the knees much easier in my experience.
