Should I get Mayu?

(I posted this on the wrong section before)

I'm new to Dollfie Dreams, although I've been wanting one for a while, I've never felt very serious about saving up for one until now.

I prefer the very "cute" big eye, little smile, innocent face look, and I would love to get a regular Dollfie as my *first* doll, but none of the dolls they sell on the website really fit my checklist, except Mayu, but she is a DDS. I'm wondering if there is any major differences between DD and DDS, and if so, what are the pros and cons of having a Dollfie Dream sister instead of normal Dollfie Dream. Thank you so much if you help

The only 'major' difference between a DD and a DDS is the height, DDS is a few cms shorter than the DD, other than that they're completely compatible, they can wear the same clothes but it might be very slightly slightly looser on the DDS.

There's comparison pictures here if you scroll down a bit:

Here on the market there are some limited dolls at very good prices right now... When you get some posts you'll be able to see them

This said, if you want to buy a new doll, I would say "No, don't buy Mayu"

Joke aside, it depends if you like the:

  • slight shorter and slimmer figure of the dollfie sister instead of the standard
  • mayu standard faceup
  • wigs and eyes included in the set

If just one thing there is not good for you... I would make a custom one.

Mayu sells for $462.00

Both the slight less tall DDSister and the standard DD3 body sells for $308.00. This leaves you 154$ for:

This calculation wuold leave you with 65$ if my math is right, just enough to get a custom faceup + shipping to some faceup artist. Maybe 15-20$ more if you get a second-hand or non-volks wig.

And your doll would be totally naked, but that's not much less clothes than the "dress" mayu comes with her set

EDIT:

here you can see how a 06 standard head can look with a custom faceup: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3398 and here for the standard 04 head: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3608

Continuing from above, keep in mind you can get painted 01-09 heads on YJA for as low as 5000y. Saves the effort of buying a bare head and then finding someone to do a faceup, and the postage back and forth.

So a body+head can be had under $400, and gives you more choice of heads/colours to make your own girl. Well, you still have to get wigs and clothes, but they can be fairly cheap. So unless you particularly like Mayu for whatever reason, you're probably better making your own girl.

[*]A head: $42.00 (plus, you have to keep some money to get the faceup). I would totally get a custom faceup instead having the volks standard one, but that's a matter of taste.

Thanks for the help! The only problem I have is that I have no idea how to put together one of these, (But of course I could read a tutorial,) And I would never ship a $400 doll I had just bought to someone I didn't know. I'm sure most people have had no problem with it, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of making my own doll though. Again, thanks for the effort of helping me

Usually you're shipping the head only to the faceup artist much smaller, less value and less risks...
