Have anyone try using Mr Hobby Clear Matt to prevent stain onto DD body ?

I've only used it on garage kits. The gloss is very durable, but I think with the matte you'll have a problem with it rubbing off onto clothes.

I believe people have tried this before, and I believe if you have something that will stain vinyl it will stain through the coating. And you'll just end up with a mess.

I think the biggest problem has been that the MSC makes the vinyl look "cloudy" for some reason, yet the heads come out fine.

It might be worth experimenting with Purity Seal or Liquitex Matte Varnish (thinned for use with an airbrush), though.

MSC is sadly, at least with BJDs, usually the stuff that gets stained, that's why the most common BJD stains are also the wig ones around the head since the forehead is always sealed too.

In their case it helps blocking off, but since the MSC can be stained so easily it soaks through to the vinyl

And yes, covering your girl completely will just make handling her more unpleasant.

MSC attracts dirt more quickly (from touching) and moving the joints/undressing her will rub it off in batches.

It's very unpleasant to see and cleaning a whole body takes long, reason why whole body blushings are usually not that common anymore with BJDs too.

Wait...MSC is not good for vinyl dolls then? what a bummer....I have all my BJDs sprayed with MSC, I don't like the shiny look from unsealed dolls because it makes them look like plastic and cheap. I also blush them. I was hoping to do the same with my DD when he arrives but if MSC doesn't stick as well to vinyl as it does to resin (it shouldn't rub off when changing clothes) then that's disappointing.

Vinyl is not as shiny as resin when unsealed?

MSC sealant is good to seal heads before and after to make faceups on vynil, is one of the few sealant which can be used safely on vynil since not any sealant used on bjd is good , and we cannot paint directly on vynil without sealant because acrylic etc stain the vynil if not sealant before painting, what it is said here is that is not good to use MSC as a stain barrier, infact it seems like parts with MSC often are more easily stained than parts not treated with MSC, so is good to do faceup, but it shouldn't be used on all the doll since probably she could get stained even easier than normal (and DD are really easily stainable), and that's why DD are not fully blushed also , just faceup and sometimes nails and nipples, apart the fact that rubbing continuosly cause of outfit can wear off the MSC, like other said.

Vynil of DD is not shiny at all , has a soft matt feel as you can see in all our dolls' photos, it can be just shiny a bit on the ball joints.

Thank you for the clarification : ) I'm new to DDs and I wanted to spray the whole body but it's better to leave it as it is. Yes, all the DD pictures are beautiful with non shiny bodies, I thought they were sealed but I'm glad to know that that's how they naturally are. I feel better now.
