Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers

Okay, I'm still pretty new to the DD hobby- But I'm thinking about creating my very one Morrigan DD from darkstalkers. It'll be the first character doll (Thats not my OC) that I've ever created.

 

 

I already know a few things like where I would commission the outfit, and possibly were I would get the wig (Considering its a very specific color, probably leekeworld) But the sculpt! She has such different face from some of the DDs I've seen. Shes got more narrow eyes, and rather obvious lip definition. I cannot come up with a good head sculpt given my noobness. OTL

 

If anyone has any recomendations for the head I should use (And maybe some photos?) I would be so greatful!

And if you have recommendations for eyes and wigs I am still completely open for suggestions!

... And yes... She will be getting a Peach Pai bust.... >.>

 

I could be wrong but ddh07 with some mods might work, like sanding the chin round.

 

The right faceup can help too. Good luck can't wait to see her finished

I agree, out of the standards I'm familiar with the 07 is a good candidate, and mods could bring it closer. Close-eyed head with custom eye opening could get that sultry-eyed look; some carving and sanding can make the lips more pursed and can give her upper lip the proper cupid's bow (such as what's in this thread and this one). The 09 looks like it could also be a candidate, but I've only seen low-res shots of it and haven't seen it in person, so can't verify if it would benefit from the same mod set.

 

From limited girls, Beatrice and Alice come to mind as they have long faces and something of a lowered-lid look. Alna could probably work well too, though she'd need a new, less perky faceup.

 

Regarding the outfit, are you going to do it yourself or commission someone? Either way, you may want the bodice to have some plastic "boning" in it to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. ^^;

 

Still, she's got a really cool character design, and I can't blame you for wanting to make a custom of her. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this!

Im actually in the process of getting my Chibi Morrigan lol - she's a heavily modified YoSD but thats off topic here.

 

For the wig - its definitely Leekeworld. They have that beautiful pastel seafoam color. I picked W124 in pale turquoise. With a little of water wax and some teasing, I think this layered cut is the perfect length and color.

 

For the headmold, Im not sure what skin color you will be picking. Ive personally imagined that Morrigan is deathly pale with some pink undertones, so it would be Semi-white. Normal skin is pretty pale too actually.

 

I think Kosmos with a different faceup that accentuates the eyes and makes it more cat eye shaped along with some dark paint on the side of the lips to make her look smiling to give her that coy sly look would be perfect. Kosmos as is doesn't look close, but I see huge potential to be Morrigan with a really different and dramatic faceup and eyes.

 

You will want resin eyes for her (again, personal preference, I find it catches light beautifully and it has "depth"). I like Project Arietta and White Dolly Story have some really pretty eyes with very slight shimmer for that glowing look.

 

As for Normal skin head sculpts. I think Rise Kujikawa (Actually, I think she is perfect for that sly Morrigan look) or Sheryl that will be up for preorder later on. Some manipulation with eye paint will really give dramatic results I think, the eye itself is almond shaped so it shouldn't be too far off.

It's a interesting character project! I think 07 is a good option for Morrigan, I can't wait to see your doll because I love that character! she can be really great!
