Nakitaninja Posted September 8, 2011 This certainly won't be for everyone.... BUT! Sailor Moon is being rereleased in comic form this month after years of being out of print for years- if you were a big fan of the series then the manga is coming out in reliable and accurate translation (imagine that!) September 17th. This series is really what started my interest in anime in college and I still love it. Although I have moved on the technically better shows, Sailor Moon holds a place near and dear to my heart. Reserve your comics and if you live close to Austin, TX there's a Sailor Moon release party the 17th at Austin Books and Comics. For more details please go here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=193681770699561 Over 75 people have already RSVP'd! O.O;;;; Nice! I'm taking my camera! AerisAquata Posted September 9, 2011 Woooooh! I've been waiting for the re-release since last year. Sailor moon was the first anime I ever watched, and it's always had a special place in my heart.
PrettyCranium Posted September 9, 2011 Already preordered the first. Volumes, plus Sailor V which is being released for the first time. Sailor Moon was what started my anime journey. Now, we just need a DVD release . . . In case any one is interested, Hot Topic apparently has SM shirts for sale (in store, and on the website . . . Too bad shipping to Canada is so expensive). The re-release of the manga and the new merchandise is spawning some nice rumors . . .
Cosplaybunny Posted September 9, 2011 Awesome! I'm going to be at that Sailor Moon party in Austin. I cannot wait for it. Sailor Moon was the first manga I ever bought and I can't wait for this re-release. I still have the original English release, my volume one has been read so many times its about ready to fall apart. I definitely need a new copy.
Talolili Posted September 10, 2011 Look at me, I totally forgot about the re-release of Sailor Moon!!!! It was also my first anime and I can't wait to get the manga again, but I guess I'll have to order them since the local Borders has closed and the next book store is over 20 miles away. LordNoir Posted September 10, 2011 My boyfriend has already pre-ordered the first volume ( or maybe the first two volumes, I forget sometimes. ^^) I'm a bit of a fan, but I admit I really hope there is atleast an option for dvds with the original DIC dub. I'm all for a more accurate show, but there's just something wonderfully nostalgic about the original dub, sort of like how even though Samurai Pizza Cats wasn't a faithful dub, many people still enjoy it. ^^ A crazy fool with a house full of dolls, and ponies, and pony dolls Now an Official Dealer for SQ Lab! I'm all for a more accurate show, but there's just something wonderfully nostalgic about the original dub, sort of like how even though Samurai Pizza Cats wasn't a faithful dub, many people still enjoy it. ^^ Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way you do- there's the way I know and identify with the show and then the way it was *actually* created. I will never forget Serena's voice for as long as I live. It was really terrible but certainly unique, that is for sure. The bigger problem I had with the dubs were that they actually edited out parts of the show that were relevant and had a significant impact on the story. >.< Sailor Moon isn't exactly earth-shattering sophisticated prose or anything but when you start editing and chopping together the episodes because you don't like the adult concepts or cultural nuances... well, I'll take a more faithful version any day. I'm pretty sure you can still get the dubbed versions? I've not actually looked into that, actually. I taped a bunch of em back in the day but they really need to be replaced! I'll let you know if I find anything. *^^*
