SisterKyoya Posted July 25, 2013 I really love the Iplehouse Asa, she is just beautiful. She has been om my want list for a few months now. So far my DD projects have been crowding all the resins down to the bottom of my list, in spite of the fact that the last few DD I've gotten were more expensive. I'd love to see pics of your resins if you have any, especially Asa. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
leitan Posted July 25, 2013 I really love the Iplehouse Asa, she is just beautiful. She has been om my want list for a few months now. i love both the E.I.D and J.I.D versions of Asa - since i first saw Iplehouse dolls, Asa, as well as Zera (S.I.D) were on my wishlist. they still are, but that was a long time ago and they've been bumped down due to the system i'm using to decide which dolls i can or should buy. i don't know if i will ever actually prioritize them enough to obtain them, but any time i see owner photos of them i get excited! FWIW: i think that "Anime Style" heads in the resin BJD world are going to be a trend that catches on. this is just speculation, but i think they have a general crossover appeal. also, there are both up- and down- sides to vinyl/plastic versus resin dolls from a practical POV which is just one reason i collect both. i've posted in this thread before, but i currently own both vinyl and resin dolls, both can be appreciated in their own different ways. i don't (yet?) own a resin BJD in "anime style" since i haven't found one that i really feel is appealing. that said, some people may be interested in new Korean BJD company "DollPamm". they clearly have a little more of an anime influence, specifically from gaming actually (i am very very convinced that their dolls are heavily influenced by the ELIN characters in the game TERA- compare the BJD bodies to screenshots of Elin bodies for extra confirmation!) DollPamm's website is here: http://www.dollpamm.net/index.php yes, they're not really anime as DD or the Luts Anime heads are, but you see the influence maybe? when their English shop came online, i ordered Manjyu blank, but she is not here yet. there was a lot of excitement regarding their release on DoA so i expect they had many orders placed and they are a small company so it could take a long processing time. oh, i also read a few pages back before posting this so i could see the latest pictures people shared- aeris i immediately recognized your Belle, because someone at my local BJD meet got one a while ago and in person it looks *gorgeous*. their styling is different to yours, but anyway- your Belle looks lovely in that nice classic style; the detailing on her bodice with the lace is really amazing. did you buy that dress or make it? second_banshee - congratulations on your Soony! i really like punk/emo/alternative style dolls. um... is it sad that i feel fairly confident guessing what she is wearing? i want to say pants from Kawaiimon (Dorset Clothing), wig from Crobidoll(?), and as for the top- while mine is a dress and not a crop top, i own a piece of doll clothing in the exact same fabric. only reason i can't guess a name is it was purchased (off Ebay maybe?) around the time when i got my first MDD, so i forget from where it came. for a selfpost- here is my tiniest resin BJD. she is made by French doll artist Nymphea (aka K6 Dolls - http://www.nympheasdolls.com/dolls-shop/) and i am very very impressed with the quality of her work. the sculpt name is Fantasia, my personal name for her is Malin, and she's about ~20cm height... my image is photoshopped to change minor details, so please look at Nymphea's website if you want to see the accurate sculpt photos: 6/26/13 | 45/365 | malin's rainbow by ___rei, on Flickr finally, i noticed a few people on the last page of this thread saying they are torn between buying BJD and DD which indicates they might not have access to DoA? if you would like a Den of Angels invite, i might be able to give you one. i think that DoA is a useful forum even if you buy DD and stick with it, because A) DD & Obitsu are on-topic even if the main forum focus is on BJD, so there are some discussion threads devoted to them, but more importantly, B) DoA marketplace frequently has some exclusive items or custom/ooak/handmade ones and so on, that will work with DD as well as BJD. because my own collection of dolls is about 2/3 Resin to 1/3 Plastic, i often find i am able to "crossover" doll wardrobe items between certain sizes of BJD with certain sizes of Vinyl/Plastic dolls which is really useful. oh, and once i even bought a vinyl doll on DoA's marketplace (my VMF50 Kana). BTW, i'm not trying to hard-sell DoA - there are plenty of negative sides to the forum unfortunately, but those negatives come with the simple fact that it's the largest English-speaking doll community online. sometimes their policies, restrictions, or rules rub me the wrong way, but that happens everywhere, so its just something you might ignore while taking advantage of the positive aspects of DoA forums. sagoslottet Posted July 27, 2013 .. I'd love to see pics of your resins if you have any, especially Asa. ~Sister Kyoya Yeah Asa is a real beauty! I would love to have her in every size I would love to show you a picture of Mei (My Asa) she's my grail doll in ancient chinese outfit! But I don't have the permission to post link/domain and cannot use BBCodes I don't know what to do D: If you go to my Instagram, there you can see many of my dolls Since I don't bond with large dolls, she's the only one who just stand there in my glas cabinet. I would never sell her since she's The One. I liked the idea of resin anime dolls since I don't have to worry about staining, My Coco's head is really nice, thick resin and it just feels good! But I think I'm ending up selling her anyway. (Her face wasn't as I expected) And yes! It's a trend! Didn't Fairyland say it would be some Anime faces to? (For Moe-line body) Anyway I like the idea :3 Sayaka - Saber Nero, Tomoyo - Asuna, Marina - Incoming Sasara
DivinitaAria Posted July 27, 2013 I'm honestly not sure though. Sometimes the large eyes on a more realistic face scare me. And I love the way the DD body looks. So I'm really torn. I'm with you there about the body I love the DD bodies for looks, weight, and ability to pose, but there are so many BJD sculpts out there. I haven't played with my Volks Rose as I've sold her body, but her head looks great on a DD body. I have have to figure out how to connect the two. I think I'll enjoy owning her with her being on a DD body Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
SisterKyoya Posted July 27, 2013 Yeah Asa is a real beauty! I would love to have her in every size I would love to show you a picture of Mei (My Asa) she's my grail doll in ancient chinese outfit! But I don't have the permission to post link/domain and cannot use BBCodes I don't know what to do D: Woops, I didn't think to look at your post count. I believe that you can link images once you have 20 posts, so you are half way there! After you mentioned your Asa I wandered over and stared at her again on the Iplehouse website. I finally realized that her head is perfect for making a more realistic version the anime boy that my avatar and forum name are based on. I know it doesn't make much sense, but he was called sister Kyoya when he and his friends dressed in drag, and it is the anime that got me forever hooked on anime. I just have a thing for megane. Visiting that website is dangerous though... I ended up deciding what other of the resins would work for all of Kyoya's friends. It will be one expensive project, but I would be deliriously happy to get it completed. They range from the EID to JID sizes and they all seem perfect for what I want, but something I thought would be impossible to find (I'm a perfectionist.) the Iplehouse dolls are unbelievably lovely. I've wanted a resin Kyoya since shortly after I started collecting DD a year and a half ago before my DD list got to be huge. So I really have to thank you for inadvertently kicking me in the head to realize I already knew Kyoya's perfect sculpt. Before that, Asa was on my list for the resin version of his older sister. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
sagoslottet Posted July 27, 2013 Oow so that's the problem! Well I'll be back with the pictures when I reach 20 posts Oh wow! That's interesting! I would love to see Kyoya done *_* Will he have a more female faceup or male faceup? I think I haven't seen any boy Asa's before but the picture I got in my head is quite cool And yeah IH isn't cheap XD But I think you'll make it! (I'm soo jealous for your preordered DD Kos-mos!!) SisterKyoya Posted July 28, 2013 If you have access to DOA there are some Asa boys in the sculpt thread: boy 1, boy 2, and this one sure looks like a boy. I really love Asa's faceup A (also used for boy 1) and I'm the type who doesn't mind her boys to be a little girly. If I wanted 'manly men' I'd be a comic book geek, not an anime/manga otaku. In case you didn't know, my avatar is one of my goofy drawings dressed in the Sister Kyoya outfit. That's not actually Kyoya. It is definitely different trying to figure out how to remake an anime character into a rather realistic resin. There are so many of the details that I can't fuss over (perfectly matched eyes and mouth) because it just doesn't translate well, but getting the overall resemblances is the way I know how to make it work. Unfortunately I have to fight with my obsessive compulsive side over that fact a lot. There is no denying that I love the BJD style, they can be simply stunning. Having such lovely bodies to design and recreate clothing for really excites me because I can finally show off the full extent of my sewing ability. Also Ouran is great for this because they have a ton of themed outfit sets. I'm still trying to understand how the custom doll thing works since they are available sometimes, but not always and I have yet to figure it out. It isn't like I need it any time soon, but it is confusing. As for Kos-Mos, I knew that if I didn't get her that I'd be kicking myself like crazy. I was just lucky enough that they did the 'order now & pay later' with the preorder. My husband (Ravendruid) and I have been pinching a lot of pennies to make it work, but it will be fun once we can do box openings. It has been fun seeing him get so smitten over Momo (his 2nd girl.) I still feel mildly guilty at times that I had to force him into it, but normally even if he wants something he won't buy it for himself. This may also be one of the rare times that we can get limited girls straight from Volks so I sure wasn't going to pass on it. I'll be looking forward to seeing Mei! It isn't like I need it any time soon, but it is confusing. Oh you mean the custom doll system? I heard they're available from the beginning of every month! And the system is great! I mean you can pick and choose from every sculpts! Some of the sculpts aren't available other than in CDS! For example, the stunning Aurora and Mari And WOW for the BOY ASA'S! The one with white hair was really handsome! And yes the faceup A is really beautiful! Mine got a custom faceup by Mjusi @ dA. Also a large red dragon tattoo over the bust and almost to neck Waah lucky you and your husband *-* I'm glad to hear it even though the cirbleepstances Sayaka - Saber Nero, Tomoyo - Asuna, Marina - Incoming Sasara

She is awesome yes, she is! she's extremely talented and really nice as a person. i recognized the dress because she posted a preview on her own doll when she was sewing it and talked about how it was a gift for someone, so, now i know who! i love the way both her doll and yours look in the dress, it's great. katnaper Posted August 4, 2013 And here is an iPhone picture of her tattoo: I love this tattoo. Asa is so pretty, even my husband who isn't into Resins was fascinated by her. Who knows maybe someday, he'll get into BJDs too and I could get him Asa for himself. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. SisterKyoya Posted August 6, 2013 Sagoslottet, your Asa is stunning! I am totally amazed by that tattoo. Her faceup is just beautiful! Don't mind if I just stare at your pics for a while... Did you do her faceup or did you have someone do it for you? Thank you for sharing the wonderful pictures with me. As much as I try and resist, I'm really starting to think that getting Asa for my Kyoya may be my first BJD. The more of that sculpt that I see the harder it is to move it back down on my list. I'm also starting to realize that I like the Iplehouse ascetics a lot more than I originally expected I would. There have been a few times now that I've seen a resin and really liked it, only to find out later that it was an Iplehouse sculpt. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
