elektroeule Posted August 28, 2014 Hey pros out there! I was on folks webstore to look for beautiful hands for the DDIII body I hope I can buy. There I found that every set of hands also exists in a larger version. Why? And how does that look? I want hands making the victory sign. Which would I need? Normal or large? Thanks for help. xoxo
Cauldroness Posted August 28, 2014 Both the "normal" and "large" hands will work on a DDIII body, so it's not a matter of "Which would I need?" so much as "Which would I prefer?" Personally, I hate the "large" hands -- I think they look like giant man-hands on an otherwise very slender and feminine body. But some people really like how they look. It's all personal preference. foo Posted August 28, 2014 The other thing is that the large hands can have very different/more interesting sculpts, such as the paper/spread out hands. I have the V hands in the small size and I find it can look awkward because the palm area of the hand is almost the same size as the wrist. Here it looks ok, Focus Stacking test by bodolza But if she's wearing something long-sleeved, the sleeves around the wrist look wider than the hands. However, I don't know what the large version of these hands would look like. It's weird of course if you have a mismatch of hand sizes on a doll at the same time. Generally I find the small hands to look more natural on DDs, but in some situations the large hands can definitely look more appropriate.

I used to think it looked awkward too. But then I made the victory sign with my own hands, and my palm area doesn't look much bigger than my wrist either! So now I'm more reconciled to the small version hands. jadepixel Posted August 29, 2014 I'm used to the small hands so I mostly prefer those. But some of the new ones are more nicely sculpted, in particular I like the paper/spread finger hands in large size better than the small one. It just boils down to personal preference. So far Volks still ships new dolls with the smaller style hands, so it's easier to mix and match styles with them. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

Can't see any problem there. Thank you for the picture reference. This helps a lot.
