My name is Marie but I just love the number 72 so that's my username! I have been collecting a bunch of anime PVC/figures for a few years now, and I take a bunch of pictures of them too xD. Recently I saw these beautiful pictures of Dollfie Dreams in a Japanese blogs and I was so moved and inspired I decided it's time to get me my first doll! I actually do not own any dolls yet, and I don't think I will for a while (because I just lost both Alisa and Makoto on my first lottery ) . And so I made an account here to learn more about dolls , for when I eventually will get one. But I do have one question, maybe I should just post it on the questions board.. or maybe here cause it's like.. just one question.. ?

 

So since I missed out on the lottery just yesterday, I wanted to at least buy one (maybe Makoto) through some other means, and so I read a guide which redirected me to YAJ (and mandarake, but that one doesn't seem like it had any xx). I don't suppose there are guides to actually.. buying from there...? I can't read any Japanese and it seems that most of the dolls there are auction only and I've only ever really dealt with (English) places where you can just buy immediately xx. I don't want to use a proxy service and deal with all those fees only to find out I ordered something the description clearly states is not what I wanted (but can't read)..

Sorry you lost on your first lottery entries. There will be other dolls, and of course as you said, there is Yahoo! Japan Auctions, Mandarake, etc.

 

If you have Google Chrome browser, it can translate the pages automatically for you. Granted it is not 100% accurate, but it can give you the basic idea.

 

If you use a proxy service, they may be able to translate for you, or at least if you ask them what you're looking for they may be able to tell you if that is what is in the auction.

 

Mandarake will probably get some in the upcoming weeks, but there is no telling what price they will ask for either of them. >__<

I think I will end up using a proxy service to buy one from YJA. Thank you for the information!

I also think I am... (hopefully) prepared for those crazy (resell?) prices. Just thinking about it is getting me pumped up xD.

I recommend waiting a bit to buy Makoto - once the lottery winners receive her then there will be better prices and more dolls to buy. Most new YJ auction listings happen on Thursday and Friday and end by Saturday night, so that's a good time to check.

A good proxy for newbies is Rinkya, they will translate pages on YJ for you. I also like From Japan, they are harder to use but have better rates on low price items- for full dolls the price is similar to Rinkya.

Thank you for the advice jadepixel ^^. From Japan looks very simple, I'll most likely use that for the doll. Can't wait to get Makoto someday!
