Sketch of concept:

I've been thinking for a while that it would be really fun to mod a doll into a kind of gijinka/furry character. I've seen it done a few times by other artists and want to try it myself. So, I started modding a DDH-02 head to be a cute werewolf witch!

Here's how the head looked after I started sanding:

Here's how it looks when I finished carving:

I still need to smooth out some more sanding marks and I'll be good! The plan is to paint it super cute in a very moe and sweet gijinka/furry look, kind of like this drawing I did.

For the head, these are the mods I've done so far:

  • Reshape nose to have a broad, flat area for the snout
  • Reshape ear tips to be pointed
  • Carve a cute smile
  • Round out eyes
  • Even out lower face proportions

My plan is to put the head on a MDD body. I'm still thinking about how I want to do the cute wolf ears and tail-- I think sculpted ears and tail look better on dolls than fuzzy ones, usually. Fuzzy ones would be easier to make, though. I'm still experimenting with resin eyes, but I'd like to make nice eyes for this project too. Lastly, I haven't sewn in a while but I would like to make a simple witch outfit-- like an elastic-band tulle miniskirt and a loose striped sweater, plus a hat and a little broom made from craft supplies. My overall goal is to try to finish this project by Halloween.

9/4 - Did some more sanding today-- I softened the smile and trimmed down the lower half of the face some more.

All that's left is smoothing out some of the mods for the ears. I'm thinking of sculpting some pointier tips onto the ears, actually. That will be a first.

Looking cute so far!

The japanese ears I bought used a resin core with fur glued on top, it gives the ears a firm shape but has the requisite fluffy cuteness- that's one way to do it. The trick will be getting the animal parts to look like a wolf and not a cat, I'd avoid adding the bell to the collar for that reason. Maybe mod the hands to have long, pointy nails instead

jadepixel - That's a really good idea! I'll have to experiment. While the ear tips look cute sanded to be pointy, they don't look pointy enough yet. Good catch on the bell-- it's off the table then. :> The pointy nails is a super cute idea! Might be a good chance to deco out some adorable MDD nails too, so that they're still pointy but also stylish.

Arientte - Waaaah I don't know how often I'll be able to update, haha! Thank you though. I'll try not to disappoint!
