Evoke Doll Review [NSFW!!]

Recommended Posts

deadlegato

Okay, so a couple of people had asked if I'd do a review of the EvokeDoll body when I got it. I didn't want to clog up the thread so I'm posting it here.

She's got a very thick wire skeleton with thinner wire at the joints. You can't bend her just anywhere on the body you'd want. I feel like I can only bend her one way at a time; unlike a DD or standard BJD, she doesn't "rotate". She moves in 45 and 90 degree angles.

Pros: Her body blushing is gorgeous, she's very soft, and not too sticky. She matches Dollfie Dream normal fabulously. She's extremely photogenic. She's very solid feeling, not like a bowl of jelly like some other silicone dolls I've met. It's fun to squish her boobs

Cons: She doesn't stand on her own. Her ankles can't support her large upper body. The extra money for the moving fingers was wasted. The wire barely goes past where the fingers meet the palm, so all it does it get in the way when you dress her. Doesn't really help her hold hand poses.

I like her. Would I get any more than this one body and the Liz I have on order that hasn't shipped yet? Probably not. I like it enough, I especially like how it photographs, but unless they find a way to lower the price I probably wouldn't put out that much money for any more of them.

Here's the pics you've been waiting for. A have a DDS Youmu head on her now. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that head on it. That wasn't my plan, but the Youmu head looks better on that body than on an MDD body.

OH! Possible additional con- she left butt prints all over whatever she was sitting on when she was nude. I've got her in clothing I know I can wash now; I'm leaving her for awhile to see if she leaves greasy butt stains on her clothing. Actually it's kind of funny to see her butt prints all over the box she came with. No where else on her body does it, just her butt.

Here she is dressed.

This is great, thanks for the review! I've been considering getting one of these how did you end up ordering it, through eBay or direct from the site?

Actually, through a Taobao shopping service from their Taobao store. I thought it would be easier to communicate all the options I did/didn't want through a translator.

Poseable fingers worthless? That's pretty terrible for an optional. I'll have to jot that down as my interest in Kui increases and jump up my list of dolls to get.

...unlike a DD or standard BJD, she doesn't "rotate". She moves in 45 and 90 degree angles.

Just to clarify. What do you mean "move"? Do you mean the joints?

looking for - , Marisa Short Wig, full set Beatrice or default face + eyes & Sasara Fullset or default face + eyes.

Ive been looking at Evokedolls and Lovelydolls and arte tokio dolls

all simular silicon dolls and noticed in some photos there is a visible seam down the sides of the dolls , arte tokio dolls look the worst , Hows the seam on the side of the one you brought? can you show photos of the sides of her body and legs ect ?

thanks

Sorry, didn't see that I had replies to this.

The seams depend on what company you buy from- some include seam removal and some charge for it. I paid for seam removal on mine as part of the cost of body blushing. When their heads come back from the face-up artist I'll take some extra pics.

When I say move, yeah, I mean the joints. She's more rigid than a traditional BJD. She doesn't twist in every way one might want.

This is a very helpful review and your girl looks really beautiful, so cute in her dress!

I'm curious about the internal wire, is this similar to DD skeleton? Would it break easily if I try wrong movements? I'm so worried what to do if something inside would break, there won't be a chance for any replacements I think?

Also, does the silicone skin attract dust really bad? Please forgive me if my questions sounds naive, I'm quite new to those dolls.

Have you ever owned a bendy toy as a kid? That's what she's like more than a dollfie dream. The wire is thicker (you can feel it inside her) than a bendy toy, but it's still wire.

I'll probably figure out some way to remove her wire skeleton when it breaks but I know I'll have to figure out how to cut her open to do it. I know there are people who fix... ahem... adult silicone toy dolls, so I don't know if one of them could do something for it.

Definately not an armature with jointed parts though, just wire. It makes her floopy, although she does great with a stand.

I'm EXTREMELY careful with how I move her because of the issue of how hard it would be to replace the wire. If I feel resistance from the wire I don't move her that way.

I also keep her standing straight because I've seen other silicone dolls that have gotten creases in them from being left sitting too long.

So yeah, she's way more fragile than a dollfie dream. I like her because her silicone behaves more like skin since it's not rigid so she's a great photography/drawing reference. As a thing to actively play with, though, she probably couldnt stand up to it.

---

Oh yeah, she's a cat hair magnet. Other people have said they have dust problems, but mine doesn't attract dust nearly as much as she attracts cat hair. Before photos I have to lint roll her and keep her dressed/covered when not in use.

Thank you so much for your detailed answers, you are very helpful!

I think I can imagine her movement now, and can't wait to order my first girl (Vieruo) soon.
