Dollfie Dream Ranka and Sheryl announced!

It really is pretty awesome seeing how many have ordered already, and it's only been open for what, about 4 hours?

First off..... LOL! Momocream, that's how I was when I found out I could order them and then that's how I'll and others will look after waiting a year.

 

At Akihabara Hobby Heaven exhibit they have 2 Sheryls and Rankas.

Ranka looks SO cute in this picture! Her mouth makeup looks better than the first Ranka.

I don't know what's going on with poor Sheryl, the second. She doesn't look happy at all. lol

Ordered Sheryl, Ranka, and Sheryl's casual set. I'm not 100% sure I want the other two concert outfits, so I'll just wait and see how I feel next fall. I might try to sell/trade Sheryl's default set (sans jewelry) for the Lion set. I've never been a huge fan of her Sayonara no Tsubasa outfit.

 

Now I'm kind of happy to be in the February Miku batch. At least getting her will make the wait for Ranka and Sheryl seem shorter.

Im really excited for Sheryl - I just wish they would let us know what they mean by flat. Is it Yoko "flat" or Alisa one piece flat? Im hoping for Alisa because her body is gorgeous and I can't seem to find it quick enough at a decent price on the second hand market.

Ordered Sheryl even though my budget is completely gone for the year. At least I don't have to pay until next year right?

Yoko's bust was called a natural bust though, not flat. I would think the terminology would mean that her bust will be like Alisa's.

Love seeing all the excitement from everyone in this thread I love 3 out of the 4 alternate outfits, but I think this weekend I will go over each one & decide how badly I need each of them or not. At least I have plenty of time to decide

Me too. And I'm glad about their prices. I was actually afraid they would turn out more expensive. They have a lot of details on their dresses, the belts and accessoires and stuff. Really happy about their prices otherwise I wouldn't have ordered them both.

We ordered them both right when we got out of work. We are so excited, we can hardly wait till they show up. Now to save, and not buy stuff... *looks up* Oh? What an adoreable outfit over there! *runs off*

Yeah, I was downtown for the grand opening of the Hobby Tengoku building, and Volks had Sheryl + Ranka DD prototype displays everywhere. Two display models of each doll on 2F, one of each girl on 7F, and another two of each gal next door on 8F Radio Kaikan (DollPoint). Dollpoint also had a guy whose sole job today was to walk around with a clipboard full of order forms for Sheryl and Ranka and ask each person in the checkout line if they were waiting to place a preorder. They're pushing this preorder project as least as hard as they pushed Miku's last year.

 

Several Akiba shops were running a Happy Birthday Sheryl campaign, so Macross Frontier must be huge at this time of year.

 

Two unrelated comments, but possibly interesting nonetheless: the new Hobby Tengoku is a really nice upgrade over Volks' previous iteration of this store; I really like it. Especially the rental case section - they have 1500 of 'em to look through now, spread across B1F and 1F. And second, Dollpoint actually had the Dream Wigs in stock today (both styles, all colors). First time I've seen them there since the store's opening day, when they disappeared quickly. So, apparently the Dream Wigs aren't a myth after all. (I picked up the hime-cut in melon green so Miku can have her hair down more easily, and picked up the last hime-cut in milk white since it reminded me of Chaika and Tama.)

Didn't it say Sheryl has a special bust piece somewhere? Plus it seems as though her back is arched in some display shots. I kind of want it to be a one piece, but I don't think it is. It's probably better for her intended character if she's not, but I like the the one piece looks aesthetically.

Ordered both Ranka and Sheryl plus Sheryl casual outfit ♥ I'm sooo happy!

Well, as regards to the mysterious bust of Sheryl. In this picture her back looks arched and volks macross page only mentions the bust being a flat version, not the whole torso. So, since her back can arch and they only mention the bust (which flat version most likely means no nips), I'm going to say that she'll be a two piece.

I kind of want it to be a one piece, but I don't think it is.

 

If it had been the one piece torso, it would have clearly stated it in her listing. But instead it is written as "Dollfie Dream® Base Body III/ Normal Skin / L Bust (Flat Version)", the same way they always do for the separate bust piece.

 

I personally wouldn't mind the one piece torso if I didn't like moving my DD around so much. I don't like the posing limitations that the single piece torso has.

My only real issue with the one piece torso is that it makes switching the bust MUCH more difficult. Don't really want to have to figure out how to cut her top off.

I believe she would look good in anything. She has a very likable sculpt like Melty. I wonder if Volks will dress Ranka&Sheryl up in different wigs and clothes. That's what they did we Kos-Mos and MoMo. As for the outfit, that would be hard to get just the tights. Unless someone really doesn't want them. :/ I wish you good luck on that.

I'm surprised they didn't post anything about them. They have used different hands in promo pictures. Maybe both will come with more than one set of hands.

If they did come with multiple hands, that's one thing they would have clearly stated. They did with Kos-Mos. I'm thinking it's just Volks not quite paying attention. It is more common for the girls to only come with only two hands, so you buy more later.

What kind of hands?

Unless Volks clearly states otherwise in the doll's product description, DDIIIs (Sheryl) always come with DD2-H-01, and DDSes (Ranka) always come with DD2-H-07. That is what you should expect as a default. If a doll comes with different hands, it is listed as a little *'d phrase on the bottom of the doll's information block.

 

Volks will show dolls using a variety of hands in the promo shots, especially for long preorder projects where many photos are taken. They are hands you can buy separately.

Actually it says on the bottom of each of their main pages,

 

* DD “Sheryl Nome” comes with a pair of Gripping Hands (DDII-H-08). No other hands are included in her set.

 

* DDS “Ranka Lee” comes with a pair of Gripping Hands (DDII-H-08). No other hands are included in her set.
