Dollfie Dream Ranka and Sheryl announced!

I'm so torn. I really like Sheryl the doll, but she doesn't really look like Sheryl the character. I don't like what they did with her eyes, making those "eye bags" a part of her eye and not faceup.

 

Well they look like that in the anime as well so I guess thats just the way they want them to look like

Weird. I always thought in the anime the spaces between their eyes and eyelashes were skin colored (and it looks that way to me in your picture). The way I would translate it to DD would be painting the eyelashes a little lower, without touching the eye holes.

I tried checking how it is in the anime and it seems like it goes both ways though. I can't post pictures yet unfortunately so you'll just have to check for yourself (if you google "sheryl nome screenshot" there's a bunch of close-up ones where you can clearly see where the whites end)

In this case I don't have much right to complain I guess.

have a few days to decide if I want to cancel my preorder or keep it, I'm still rather undecided.

 

I'd be doing a custom with her, so her wig and outfits are of little interest to me even though I'm a fan of the show, I'm not THAT big of a fan that I wouldn't make something out of her that I wanted more.

 

So as it stands, what I'm on the fence about is her face and if I can use it to make the custom I want.

That's what I've been hoping for. There isn't any black at the top of her eye like there is at the bottom, so I'm really hoping that it's possible to just reposition her eyes to get rid of the space. If that's not possible then that's going to be pretty annoying.

 

Edit: I had a little look at Ranka's eyes again and she does have a black gradient at the top as well as at the bottom of her eyes, like Sheryl does at the bottom as well. It'll probably be possible to move her eyes down a little.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly why they did it. I'm just not a fan personally.

And it seems I was wrong about that in Rankas case.... If you take a closer look at this picture you can see the eyes fill the eye hole completley, it is the face-up not the eyes

 

 

In Sheryls case it looks like it is not the face-up, but the eyes:

 

 

I'm soooo confused

On Sheryl, it IS her eyes.

 

 

As for Ranka, I think there is the gap.

 

 

 

Even so, I'm still super excited about these girls.

It's possible that different Rankas have their eyes positioned slightly differently... the gap does seem to be a feature in the eyes, though (AND the faceup).

At least it's a relatively easy fix...? Aside from matching the paint colour and having a relatively steady hand..

I think Ranka's eyes look best with her green wig. I like both so much but just ordered Ranka^^' maybe i change her eyes.

Could not resist broke down and pre-ordered Sheryl

It was unintentional but I started a project for Ranka before the preorders even closed. I think that's a first even for me.

 

It is going to be so amazing having these girls. Although Sheryl is going to change a lot, the only thing I'm unsure about with Ranka is her eyes (because of the seeming lack of a dark gradient in the eye color.) It is very rare for me to have a girl that I didn't want to change anything. Before now there have only been two girls out of my 10 girls who aren't drastically customized. (Raven on the other hand doesn't like to change his girls much at all except clothes.) So having Ranka near perfect as she comes is rather an odd feeling for me. I have some things that I want to add to her clothes, but even the ones she comes with look like what she would choose for herself.

 

Now I can sit and ponder their stories while the long wait for their arrival goes by at a slug's pace. At least I have the 2 body types already that the finished DD will need, so I don't have to wait for them to arrive to work on their clothes. YAY!
