they sorted it out... the solution was to say 'screw you, you won't ever get another product from us again.' I believe harmony gold was demanding exorbitant amounts of money. HG doesn't even exist as an animation related company anymore, but it only exists on paper so they can demand more money.. from what I understand of it anyways.

Last I heard Big west/Studio Nue (financer/creator) brought Tatsunoko Productions (Who did most of the animation work in return for licencing rights) to court in Japan (mid-2000's) and confirmed that Tatsunoko Productions only had the licensing rights to the animation and merchandise of the first season and not ownership of the franchise itself which is what HG were only allowed anyway. But because they have never brought this ruling to American courts, HG continue to insist they own all rights to Macross sequels and block sales of Macross merchandise as it would compete against their robotech line of toys (which are Macross toys from the first season).

 

I think part of the problem is also that HG have trademarked Macross and everything to do with it in the US which might be complicated to sort out.

HG is really just squatting on the rights to Macross. They haven't really done anything with it recently. They did Shadow Chronicles, which didn't do very well, and tried to kickstarter a new series, which failed badly. I think because they have been able to strongarm FASA into removing mechs from Battletech/Mechwarrior, they feel they can stop others from using it. That was intill they pointed a finger at Hasbro for copyright claims, and Hasbro just told them to bugger off.

 

They're just hurting Macross from spreading to a wider audience in the US. I don't think most of the new generation of anime fans even know what Robotech was, but probably know about Frontier.

I'm curious if anyone knows from previous pre-orders, do they send out all the payment requests at once or do they send it right before your batch? As in, if my doll is coming in the third batch should I expect the payment request before the first batch or before the third?

Before the third batch. It also seems that it ships sooner if you pay sooner. I remember some people who ordered Miku waited to the deadline to pay, and got bumped to the third batch instead of being shipped with the second. I paid instantly as soon as the second batch opened and she shipped instantly :3

 

I can't remember if the emails go out for the entire batch at once though… I don't think so. Digging through the original Miku pre-order thread will have that info I guess.

Not yet, thank goodness(for me at least). I'm hoping I don't get a notice until somewhere around the 22nd. I won't have all my funds until then.

OMG! Such a HUGE surprise waking up to the payment notice ON MY BIRTHDAY! I was thinking that the soonest it would be sent would be Monday, so it's a good thing I kept my mouth shut. Half hour after my notice was sent... and payment complete. I am TOTALLY beaming right now. This is definitely the best present I've ever given myself. Must resist running around the house screaming my head off because I'm so excited. Thank goodness Raven has an alarm on his phone telling him it's my birthday, otherwise It would have been a few more hours before I woke up.

I got my preorder invoice today as well. I have no idea what to think, because while I placed a preorder, I also cancelled the pre-order in the cancellation window. The invoice shows what I ordered, however, when I click the link it has a blank invoice with my info on it. Hm.

Yes! I have until 26th to pay for them! What great news! I'm only a $100 short Lol. I'm in the first batch. I ordered both girls the moment preorders were open. I'm just really nervous waiting close to the end period to pay is going to make me wait longer to get them.

 

I can't wait to have them! This year went by so fast. It really is harder to wait for them when you know you'll be getting them so soon. Waiting a year for them wasn't hard at all, but this month is hard.

It's going to be even harder seeing other people post pictures of them, while I'm still waiting for my girls.

As long as you pay on time, you should be part of the first batch. Maybe the tail end, but that shouldn't make more than a few days difference at the most.

Same here - I'm supposed to be in the first batch but won't be able to pay till near the end of the window. I'm thinking since they don't ship til the 31st that we won't get bumped.
