I feel you... i'm in the same boat - she just seems to similar to all the other gals out there now - but a smidge of altering i'm sure we can get it to look like the default pics

At first i didn't mind the lip change, but the more i see her head the more it looks like she doesnt have much of an upper lip. Its almost like the reduced the open mouth and the top lip along with it.

Galvatim: Seeing those photos makes me really, really impatient to get my Ranka home. SO adorable! Are her eyes less creepy in person, or is it just because of the lower light?

 

I'm still undecided about Sheryl. I still like her a lot but it is just hard to tell how well she will or won't work for what I want to do with her. I'm just a bit annoyed not knowing if I still need to plan on buying an 04 head if Sheryl is just too different for what I'm looking for. I just keep hoping that hitting the reload page 40 gazillion times is like pushing a fast-forward button so they get here sooner.

So I wasn't completely crazy she did have a pout Bc you're right that upper lip is way more pronounced, that's why she looks so diff. Did the Japanese market complain I wonder? Yeeeesh I guess I can't even really fix her to look like the display model even if I wanted to. {*{*%it Volks.

I got my Ranka too! She arrived today just an hour ago. Her eyes still look a little crazy but it's not that bad. I want to change her eyes. She would look a lot better. I even thought of putting her own an MDD body but still not sure yet.

 

I'll post pictures later on.

I'm OK with Ranka's eyes. I like them more than Airy and Neris' eyes, which I did swap. It's cloudy and rainy today, though, so I can't get any better lit shots.

 

I like that Volks included the tight gripping hands. Big improvement over, say, Saber Alter Ii, who has the default relaxed hands, yet needs the sword grip hands...

If anyone wants to sell their Ranka eyes PM me. Last item I need for my FrankenRanka (default Ranka

but with a mono head).

The bait & switch with the lips is pretty dumb, but I wonder if it was a production issue :/ If you look at wata's pictures they actually look glossed, which I don't think they've done on a DD before,

 

 

It doesn't seem like much work to change the faceup to have the extra shadow & gloss, but you'd need an artist to do that.

That's a bummer they changed their mind. I'm sure you'll be able to get another one at some point in time. As for what the the posters look like-

Oh man, I received my payment notice today for Sheryl!! I can't wait!!

My Ranka-chan and Sheryl!!! They're SO, SO much more pretty in person. I have really crappy lighting and outside wasn't helping with natural light (it's raining). The colors of their face ups don't match up to what they really look like.. But that's crappy lighting for ya.

It took me a hour to get Sheryl's clothes on her. I've been dressing them and what not since 2:30 pm, It's now 8:30 pm. The worse part of Sheryl's outfit is the hair ribbons. They're a nightmare for the wig. Sheryl has red type underwear and I'm not sure if it's just mine, but they were hard to get over her thighs. I didn't read that Ranka comes with two types of gloves. Mitten type and gloves with fingers.

 

But anyway.. On to Sheryl's lips. Sheryl DOES have some gap between upper and lower lip. Ignore the color of her lips. Crappy lighting is making the corner of her lips look red, they're not.

 

 

 

 

There's more I wanted to do today, but I'm beat (work night.. I've been up for almost 26 hours )

Ahhhh thank you Hitoma now I feel better about her - the other owner pics just made it seem like she was tight lipped xD

If I had confidence in my ability to be able to do her lips myself, I would. Buuuut... I don't. I fear wrecking the face up she has and she is beautiful in person, but I still wish she looked like the promo Sheryl.

I didn't read that Ranka comes with two types of gloves. Mitten type and gloves with fingers.

 

Thats been true for couple other girls with gloves too! I believe the mittens are easier to get on "hold" hands, as distinct fingers aren't as important when holding objects in those lil hands

Maybe Volks didn't alter that painjob as drastically from samples after all...

Hitoma- THANK YOU for those pics. Seeing that her mouth is the way I was hoping it would be made me so happy I nearly cried. The style of her lips reminds me of Kos-Mos', and hers are adorable. At least now I won't have to worry so much before she gets here. I also can't wait to consistently see them with hair.

Mine were SO hard to get on Sheryl! It took me an hour yesterday to get her dressed.

You're welcome everyone. I knew someone would eventually post pictures and since I was also curious about her mouth, I decided to take pictures of her lips.

 

I'm currently trying to switch there eyes and It's a big pain trying to get them out. I already switched their heads on their bodies. I'll be posting those pictures later. Sheryl looks cute on a DDS!

Have you tried putting her head into the freezer for few minutes to harden the glue? Sometimes that can make it easier to pop them out.

 

I'm also very glad to hear that so many people are much happier with Sheryl's sculpt. Frankly I would have felt guilty for being happy with whatever her sculpt would be if others were very disappointed in her. I really don't remember another DD that has been such an emotional rollercoaster boosted by such bad (visual) information.
