Dollfie Dream Ranka and Sheryl announced!

If they are representing Volks and responding to my email regarding quality control, that's something I don't mind sharing and neither should the company. I have no problems posting verbatim what they respond with so people who also have similar problems know how they will most likely deal with the issue. Perhaps that's just me, I'd rather present the facts as they are without edit.

 

I'm personally disappointed in the response since the items in question are so expensive. I'll have to fix it I suppose hope I can keep a steady hand with all those teeny brushes. This puts a bit of a concern on future purchases, I guess I'll need to buy based on tne sculpt and have a backup face artist in mind if I buy another Volks doll in the future (for 700$ doll, should this have to be done though?)

At least in the US, those little emails blurbs have approximately zero legal standing, too. They're essentially meaningless space-filler.

I see why you posted this. It's not exactly a personal email.

It is how the company is responding to your concern that you have a less than satisfactory product from them.

You know.... that costs a ton of money...

Really if they would just said, "send it back and we will have it repainted" - even if it took months - fine that would please me and pacify my dissatisfaction - at least I would know they care about the product they are selling and the customers that support them.

Been staring at your Sheryl pictures for the past 10 mins, but I don't see what's wrong maybe because I'm a guy?

It's her bottom right lash which is gunky and also overlaps the peach - which happens when people use masking when painting and either don't have the mask down properly or they remove it too soon after applying paint or they apply too much paint and it seeps under the mask while removing (or faceplates if they do their vinyl faceups like Danny choo showed at his company). The left one is faint and not really a big deal compared to the right eye. On the photos you have to zoom in since I only had my iPhone to take a photo. If I were to only want to take photos from far away you indeed can't tell there's a problem but any face shots, you can see it for sure.

 

I'm sure there's a lot of people out there that don't see the issue and think I'm just complaining xD

My friend who lives in Japan warns of me responding again to the email Bc it could result in a polite "we do not wish to do business with you again".

 

But someone super sweet on here has proposed we trade Sheryls since they plan on having their faceup redone - THAT is awesome and what Volks should have taken care of, not one of their customers being super kind

got all my Ranka parts today. Here is my Ranka (Momo's head). She kind of looks tired. Maybe crazy eyes is the way to go after all. Ignore her wig. Volks chopped the bangs horribly and it took hours just to get it to look like it does now.

Top set of eyes is mangaemi's Sheryl. Bottom set of eyes is my Sheryl.

 

You can clearly see the mishaps on mangaemi's Sheryl compared to mine. My Sheryl's bottom eyelash lines are smoother and there's no paint transfer of the three eyelashes.

I don't see you as complaining. I would have emailed volks and asked them about it as well. It's a limited DD, not a regular, buy any time DD.

 

I'm still waiting to be able to get my Sheryl and Ranka new eyes and wigs. I currently have them nude, wigless and eyeless in their Volks carrying case.

Got the Sheryl I snagged from Y!J home today~ She's even more gorgeous in person, I'm completely smitten with her! I liked her face up and outfit more than I expected, so I couldn't resist trying the default look on her for a couple of photos... Too bad that the weather is really rainy and gloomy so I didn't feel like building a proper set up. :S Oh well, she's still beautiful! ♥

 

 

Now I just gotta wait for a non-rainy day so that I can repaint her. While the face up is pretty, I have my own vision for this girl... and, well, my other girls are customised, too, so she looks a bit out of place right now. :'D;; The eyes are another problem to be solved; I don't know if I can find a pair in the colour, look and quality that I want in the right size. x.x;; I'm really picky about my dolls' eyes, ahah...

I normally have really good experience with them but when I emailed them a couple days ago about my CC payment since I thought my credit card rejected it I got a completely unrelated copy-paste reply telling me my purchase will ship at the end of the month

I liked her face up and outfit more than I expected, so I couldn't resist trying the default look on her for a couple of photos... Just wanted to say I snagged Ranka from Y!A. I'm really happy!

Congrats! I've been really surprised at how much I love my Ranka (Gizella) already. Oh gosh, that face is SO cute! Sohi is far less than happy about it though and keeps pouting.

Lol, I had to wipe the default because I wanted to paint her myself. :'3 While Sheryl's face up was lovely, it didn't really suit my plans as I want to make this doll into an original character of mine. I'm about halfway painting her now and she feels more like my doll already~ ^^ ♥

 

If I was rich, I'd totally get another Sheryl to keep as Sheryl, though. xD But sadly I'm not, so OCs triumph over commercial characters... ;u;

It would be really handy if it was possible to buy limiteds as blank dolls - and without eyes readily inserted, as that pesky glue gives me nightmares. xD Thankfully with Sheryl I got the glue out quite quickly after putting the head in the freezer for a while. With my Mariko I tried heating the glue and it took forever to scrape it off. -__-;;

A lot of people are getting Sheryl in order to customize her. I'm just ready to see the results.

I got her for a custom too! She'll eventually be Zelda.

I was worried her eyes may be too rounded for what I wanted but it's just the face up!

I also got mine to make an OC with.

That's why I am trading heads with Mangaemi....since Volks apparently has crap quality control.
