Amara77 Posted November 19, 2014 Would they allow you to do the down payment method or do you have to pay in full with them? According to their FAQ, you pay upfront for pre-orders. This is terrible news for me I was really looking forward to this. I can't possibly pay this in total before Christmas. I was so excited too. http://amara77.wordpress.com blog and shop Spoke too soon....
Pihlajakoto Posted November 19, 2014 I'll start to worry about Sheryl being Japan Only when volks Japan has pre-order form and international doesn't. As far as I can see neither website has preorder form for Macross My blog Pihlajakoto

As far as I can see neither website has preorder form for Macross I agree. I believe it's going to be the same with the Miku pre orders. You pay later when the dolls are ready. Believe it or not, I just got an email from volks about Miku. Haha, they won't arrive until the end of Dec. I wonder how it will be with these girls. This year I want to be part of the first batch. Cazzie_Bliss Posted November 19, 2014 I've been so hyped about getting these two girls and now I find out they're super likely to be Japan only?! I'm literally crushed. You have no idea.
Cauldroness Posted November 19, 2014 At least the website says that Volks is allowing an unlimited number of dolls for in-person and phone pre-orders, so if the release is Japan-only, then proxy buyers (such as Noppin, Rinkya, ShoppingMallJapan, if anyone is looking for suggestions) will be able to purchase an unlimited quantity for non-Japan buyers. So there might be one more hoop to jump through, and some additional fees, but it won't be impossible. Assuming it is Japan-only, which we don't know for sure yet! There are still some grayed out options, so maybe they're just saving the English version for when the entire section is live? I have been (slowly) translating the parts that Google translate can't touch, and so far I haven't found anything that says it is for Japan only. I'm also reminded that is is good that I can read some Japanese, because Google translate kinda rather sucks. Anyway, if anyone was wondering, the big grayed out button on the bottom left of the pages is for ordering through the website. Overlay Text: 只今准備中 In preparation Text underneath: ウェブでのご予約について(※ボークスウェブサイトアでのご予約となります)For reservations on the web (※reservations for/through Volks website) Google translate had it written as: (and will be booking at Volks web site A) So there is no word officially if the preorder is any different than before, but personally I'm not giving up hope. If I could change one thing about Volks is that they would improve communication with their foreign, or at least English speaking customers. (Yes, I know how big/difficult/unlikely of an expectation to have, but I can hope...) ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Hitoma Posted November 20, 2014 I don't see what's so hard about posting right away if something is Japan only or if international buyers can purchase as well. Is volks sadistic and likes to watch our hopes and dreams get crushed? Why won't they just post it already. I would like to know before Nov 22nd in Japan. That way I can go to my corner and cry about it, then figure out what I'm going to do to get both of them.
SisterKyoya Posted November 20, 2014 Welcome to the world of Volks. Their business plans bewilder, with high quality customer dis-service, who don't care a lick if the clothing they designed stains their products. If their products weren't as good as they are, or as freaking adorable to make you want to throw money at Volks like a single girl in a strip joint, I think they would be universally hated. Sometimes I feel like their (non-Japanese) customer service counter would be like this: Customer: "Excuse me, could I get some information about..." Volks: *puts down the newspaper they were reading* "What? Are you bothering me? I'm on my lunch break." Customer: "But the sign says..." Volks: "Are you still talking?" Customer: "Is there someone else that could..." Volks: "Can't you see I'm busy?" Customer: "Could you just tell me the date of..." Volks: "La-la-la I can't hear you!" Customer: "Will this stain if..." Volks: "Not listening!" *sticks fingers in ears* Customer: "I would like to buy..." Volks: *suddenly perks up and pays attention* "Will that be cash, credit, or organ donation?" Customer: "Credit, I think..." Volks: *swipes the credit card before the customer changes their mind, then hands the card back* Customer: *waits for the order to be filled* Volks: *goes back to reading the newspaper* Customer: "Um, do you know when my order will be ready?" Volks: *snaps the newspaper up, utterly ignoring the customer* Customer: "..." [/rant] When Volks is motivated to do something, they usually do rather well, but trying to get information from them is harder than pulling teeth. This is not the first time they have left the International customers bewildered and confused. They seem to be a very closed-mouth company, even when there isn't a need for it. I expect we will find out once the orders open and see if it will let non-Japanese customers place their order. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Hitoma Posted November 20, 2014 LOL Organ donation. That's what I'll have to do if they don't allow international buyers, because there's no way I'll have 1k+ before January 18th. So that means I would have to only get one.. Sheryl or Ranka. Then hope I'll be able to get a good price for the other. Luckily or unlucky, we have approximately 2 days until we found out for sure. SisterKyoya Posted November 20, 2014 yikes... hearing how bad the customer service is makes me a little deterred to get into the hobby of collecting That was never my intent, I just get frustrated with Volks from time to time. Personally I have never had a more rewarding hobby than collecting DD for about the last 3 years. Volks doesn't put a high priority on the market outside of Japan, but that's why I love these forums so much. It is really easy to (usually) find the info you need from a bunch of super friendly people. 12 DD in less than 3 years is a pretty big feat for my husband and I, but we wouldn't have ever managed except the people on our forums make it easy to remember what all the amazing and wonderful aspects of the hobby are, even if there are momentary frustrations. I wouldn't trade or sell my DD for the world, and it has never been a hobby I've regretted. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
mangaemi Posted November 20, 2014 Does anyone know of proxys that do a down payment like that vs requiring full payment up front? Really if this is Japan only it might be need for me to take a break from volks for a while (bc otherwise There won't be a way to order and have a gal secured without that skewed lottery) I'm just rather tired of having to jump through so many hoops and shell out hundreds of extra dollars everytime a girl is released. I have the means but it's just their customer service and quality aren't up to par to offset alot of the effort , price, stress anymore. The preorder dolls were at least a way for everyone to get a gal even if you had to wait. Maybe, just maybe Volks is taking a while bc they're trying to legally sell intentional with the whole copyright thing. waha Posted November 20, 2014 Do people not realize that this might all be due to the license? Macross is a toxic license, especially in the US (Robotech anyone?). Ultimately, this might not be even Volks own decision.
Poofiemus Posted November 20, 2014 Do people not realize that this might all be due to the license? Macross is a toxic license, especially in the US (Robotech anyone?). Ultimately, this might not be even Volks own decision. Whether or not the dolls can be sold overseas is due to the license is not Volks' decision, certainly. The complete lack of disclosure as to if restriction is the case? Yeah, I think at least some of the blame belongs to Volks on that one. They could at least say, "We're working on it, sit tight" if it's still up in the air, or just give us an outright "no". Instead. . . nothing. Which is, admittedly, a pretty Volks-y move. :/ I'd definitely count their tendency to clam up about details one of their more irritating tendencies. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
Yukamina Posted November 20, 2014 Hmm, wouldn't Volks be missing out on a large customer base by choosing a preorder that is Japan only? I mean, not only would they be making fewer sales, but they would intentionally be leaving the rest of the world out of a once a year DD preorder. I don't mean that in the sense of the international customer base being super important, but I think we're important enough to let us in on preorders ^^; They maintain the international site very well, so I think they do care about us. Sooo, I'm going to hazard a guess that this preorder will be open internationally. They could have done these girls as a lottery if it was Japan only, I think. My 2 cents anyway. SisterKyoya Posted November 20, 2014 THANK YOU Aeris & SakuraSylph! *smacks Volks around* Why didn't you make this easy to understand in the first place? Was it part of the licencing agreement that you had to flip out the International customers, just for the heck of it??? It isn't like we needed the extra anxiety before the tedious long wait after orders are placed. At least now I can do more planning for what it will take to convert Sheryl to a DD boy. I realized last night that he will have the same body as Ralph, so I'll be able to make his clothes before he gets here! NOW I can be elated about Ranka getting here too, one of the few girls who is nearly perfect as she is, I'll have a hard time waiting until next fall to take her out of her box. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
