Dollfie Dream Ranka and Sheryl announced!

So, now that some people have had the girls for a few days: how are the outfits?

 

Are they fully lined in white? White lining with the annoying dyed threads? Do they release a lot of dye when washed?

 

Everything except the shoes and the gloves are lined in white - I didn't notice any dark threads and sheryls jacket is lined in grey.

After seeing everyone getting their Ranka I deeply regret buying mariko instead of her when I had the chance... I like Mariko... but I like Ranka more Guess I'll try to sell my Mayu and collect money, hopefully she doesn't get much higher in price..

I don't have any good natural lighting right now, but I've changed her eyes. I find she looks "older" now and not quite so cutesy, which I'm happy with.

the left eye is passable, but not the right one. i mean its fine if you're from far away but kind of prevents upclose beauty photos... or i'm expecting too much of Volks and this should be assumed? (though for 750$, I mean comeon... wipe it and try again Volks)

 

now Ranka she's flawless, but Sheryl was the main gal I was really wanting. hnnng

My Sheryl and Ranka made it today! I haven't really had a chance to take a lot of pictures yet, but I do have them set up!

 

 

I feel like Volks did a great job for the most part on the outfits and accessories, but cut corners in other places. Sheryl, for example, has really good overall fit and finish. Her default top has a 3 different loops to hook it together in the back, presumably for if you change the bust size. The metal rings and chain are a nice touch (though the rings may be left over from Belldandy production...), and almost all of the pieces are lined to reduce staining.

 

That being said, I was a little disappointed that the belt didn't actually fasten to anything and relies on friction to stay together. The earring was a little disappointing too, I was hoping for a higher quality metal piece instead of plastic. I was really hoping that the one piece that defined Sheryl would actually be really well made and was underwhelmed.

Nice Macross shrine asianed! Wonder if you could get a 3D printed metal earring as a replacement? Then it could even attach magnetically.

 

mangaemi you should definitely contact Volks about that faceup, that's one of the messier that I've seen. Pretty sure somebody on the forum (Anouc?) has successfully gotten redress from Volks for a poor faceup before. Just be polite and clear about what you'd like them to do for you.

 

I want to take some casual Sheryl photos but ran into some trouble >.<

When I removed Sheryl's eyes, part of the lower eyeliner paint flaked off. I was planning to repaint her anyway but a warning to be extra careful with her faceup!

 

After 24 hours it doesn't seem like Sheryl's outfit has stained, but I did cover some parts of the skirt, bustier, and garter belt with white duct tape for safety. The rest of her outfit is pretty well lined.

I took a photo of the potentially staining costume bits- why line the bustier if you use red and black thread for the fastenings?

I bet it also helps that you aren't keeping them anywhere that is especially hot. During the summer I learned about outfits that had never stained that started to stain because of the heat (black threads inside the clothes). Since I keep them in a small sun room that used to be a balcony. So when it's hot it's really hot in the doll room and the same for when it's cold.

 

Glad to see all the lovely girls arriving home to everyone! Sheryl is definitely my favorite of the two~ The only thing I regret now is not getting Sheryl's Date Outfit so I'll have to keep my eyes open for it.

Thankfully I was able to hunt down Sheryl from Y!J for a reasonable price, I was so bummed that I missed out on the pre-orders... and especially now that I've seen all the owner photos, I love her even more! ♥ She finally arrived to the shopping service's storage, but I still need to wait until tomorrow before I can have her shipped out. So anxious to see her IRL! *___* ♥

 

Hearing about the troubles with Sheryl's face up make me glad that I planned to repaint her anyway. @.@;; But it definitely sucks if you planned to keep the default. :/ Hopefully Volks will offer some kind of compensation for you, mangaemi!

Congrats on finding your girl! I know how hard it is to fall in love with a girl after the fact and then having to track them down where you don't have to spend an arm and a leg. We've had to buy a few aftermarket girls and it can be a bit nerve wracking. Being able to get girl you thought you missed out on makes them that much more special once they arrive.

Heh yes... Moderate temperature, little to no light and generally low humidity to keep my girls safe~

Mine has arrived and is looking good! I had no problems popping those eyes out luckily.

I guess Volks is Volks lol some are great some not so much.

I feel like some people got her with a more open mouth like the promo pics. I did not, but I can't really complain as she will be re-painted!

I contacted them too about some missing accessories but have yet to hear back.

I'm not sure who is on instagram that's also on here (i'm so bad with user names), but someone off there said they had an issue with Lucy and had to send it in to be replaced and it took 2 months to get the replacement (though was done over new years so maybe that added to it). Oh boy? I'm curious their email turnaround time. It's only been 24hrs at this point -- considering Talolili's missing items, heck maybe there are others out there with issues too so responses will be a little bit. If I don't hear anything after a week, the next email will be more.. pressing. ;D

I had to get something replaced one time and it took 4 months total T_T Volks can definitely be slow with responding.

You should definitely make Volks take care of this. You shouldn't have to fix something on a brand new doll. That I will again point out cost $700+ dollars. You are in the right. Waiting more sucks... but it's what you should get as a customer. I'm assuming they will take care of it though.

WOOO HOO! My girls just got delivered! Now I have to wait another hour and a half to open them when my sister gets here. It's the first time I get to share the excitement with her. Now I just gotta keep myself busy with something else until then.
