Dollfie Dream Sister (DDS) body

Back in August, Volks announced the release of a 50 cm Dollfie Dream body called Dollfie Dream Sister.

 

 

The body is scaled to match the original DD and look like a younger sister:

 

 

The new body also has enhanced mobility in the hip and elbow joints. The body is also has increased strength to retain poses.

The DD heads already released and option parts such as hands are compatible with the DDS body. The new body has also been designed to make it easier to exchange parts.

Pre-orders were taken from September 20th to October 24th in 2010. Beginning in February, orders will be shipped in sequence based on date of pre-order.

The DDS should be interesting. The compatablity between DDII and DDS outfits and hands is really nice. Although both Marisa and Reimu look like great Dollfies, I'm not a Touhou fan, so I'll be watching to see the next use of DDS.

Any word yet about whether DDS has a continuous DDIF (Dollfie Dream Internal Frame, also known as a "skeleton" or an armature) or not? Yeah, I know I'm a broken record on this but I really do need to know if this will be a fix for Namiko-tan. I'm sick of that MDD body with its pseudo-DDIF. Namiko is supposed to be athletic. MDD gets in the way of her characterization.

 

Edit: after looking at those photos, a lot of those poses would be impossible to do if there wasn't a full internal frame. Yes, Namiko is going to go through puberty as soon as I can get a hold of one of these bodies. "Our little girl is becoming a woman..."

I have Marisa on order. We'll see how good it is once the Touhou DDSs are actually released. Optional parts and clothing compatibility is really a good thing. It will save me a lot of money buying outfit for her. Now only if there's a good MDD sized doll. Volks really needs to redo their MDD inner frame to have a nice robust small body.

Until Volks wises up about MDD there is always Obitsu. They have a 40cm and 48cm body on the way, and they already have a 50cm out. Volbitsu hybrids are easily doable.

Well now, these new pictures *really* make me want a DDS body. I think the increased motion and posability is great. The fact DDII hands and heads also work on the DDS is a smart move on Volks part. Some of the poses in the above pics are great. And that one picture of the arm being able to come almost all the way up flat against the bicep area is great. I wonder if the head attachment will be like the aftermarket pieces that allow more movement of the head like the laying down pose above or having the DDS looking up at you from below. This would be nice and save the trouble of doing a neck mod or buying a $40 piece to do the same thing.

 

I'm really wanting to see what they come up with next for these. I dunno if I'd get a character version or just do a basic body and have a head/faceup done by someone. I guess that will depend on what they do on their end.

I really wonder too. Kirino from Oreimo seems like a good choice, or maybe Shana! I just hope if Azusa from K-on! turns up, Volks can release her internationally this time.

Azusa would be a great DDS!

I'm really looking forward to the release of the DDS body, especially since it promises to have a much wider range of motion than the current bodies. The petite size of the body, at least in comparison to the normal DD, is also a big draw. I hope they add it to the standard bodies available before too long.

That would be the perfect size for me. I ask hubby If he can get one for me on my b'day. whenever they decide to bring them out. What head mold is 10 and 13??

They probably should have released Saber Lily as a DDS. Parents of Lily would likely want to be able to pose in a more dynamic way.

Wow, DDS is looking really cool! Marisa doing the splits and sitting cross-legged! Wow! Saber Lily doesn't look too bad as a DDS. She may be shorter, but king Arthur can still carry Guinevere!

 

I heard a rumor, over on the DD Flickr group, that the next DD characters would be Tony Taka/Shining Hearts based.

I haven't looked to closely at the characters, but hopefully there are some that would work as DDS and get the DDS body over here in the States, assuming the rumor's true.

The outfits for the Shining Hearts characters in the link you posted look fun. There are also a couple of cat-girls. There looks like there are a couple of younger, potentially DDS-ish girls.

I happen to like Tony Taka's character designs for the series, although I haven't played any of Sega's Shining games in years. Not since Shining Force 3. Catgirls seem to be a staple of the series. I don't see any elf girls though, a shame, I really like the figure of Xecty Ein I got, from Shining Wind I think?

I'm also a big T2 Works fan. Tony's stuff is amazing.

 

After seeing these new pics of the DDS, I want one even MOAR!!!

 

I love the new posability shown. It would be great to have a girl that can do things like this! Looks like I know what to save for now.....

Yes, DDS has incredible articulation! I just hope Volks doesn't sacrifice the sculpt for it. I'd hate to have those concave Figma thighs on something like this. I don't think they will, the shoulders look better than DD2. I guess we'll see soon.

In regards to the new pics of the DDS body in action, I've gotta say that I love how the knees look. The body line seems to be more connected and less..."parts put together"-ish.
