baldylox Posted March 6, 2011 I have a question about the new DDS hands. I saw pics on Figurefm of Marisa and she looks to have 2 sets of hands that came with her. I saw an open hand to hold her broom and I saw NEW closed/fist hands that are completely different from the regular Volks closed hands. The fingers were more separated and detailed on those. I asked this question in a comment section but have not gotten a response yet. Am I seeing things or does Marisa actually have 2 sets of hands that are different molds from the older DD hands? And if this is true, are they the same as the regular line of DD hands and can be swapped out too? Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Galvatim Posted March 6, 2011 I have read that the DDS has just the new fists. I'm pretty sure I've seen some 'reshaped' open palm hands out there( the 01 type hand).
mitsuki Posted March 6, 2011 The closed hands on Marisa are different from the old close hands. Do you think Reimu has the restyled 01 type hands?
baldylox Posted March 6, 2011 The closed hands on Marisa are different from the old close hands. Do you think Reimu has the restyled 01 type hands? So I was right about those. But does that mean she came with 2 sets of hands? The pics I saw had her holding her broom in her right hand and I know it was not that new fist hand. Volks has done it before tho, they had an extra set of hands with Rei Ayanami in her first version. She had an extra set of hands that had super long, skinny fingers on them. Kinda creepy looking too, I never used them. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
mitsuki Posted March 6, 2011 The long skinny finger hands are "glove hands" that are designed to make it easier for putting on gloves. Volks released them with all the DDI bodies back then and at least Nemu in her wedding dress too because she came with white gloves. You don't see them anymore. Now Volks makes gloves are part of the hand instead (ex. Yoko or Kan'u).

There's no other hand parts that came with the doll, but yes DD2 hand parts fits DDS bodies. I used DD2 hands on some of my photos too. The first hand really is very limited in what you can pose with those.

So if she only comes with fist hands, how does Volks think she can hold her broom that comes with her? That doesn't make much sense to me... That's good that the regular DD hands fit the DDS tho, makes things easier for owners to get nice poses and such with their new girls. Thanks for the info! mitsuki Posted March 7, 2011 I thought Volks should have included the closed hands and holding hands needed to make Yui and Mio look like they were playing their guitars, but they didn't. I guess they figure their customers will buy them anyway.
phoenix Posted March 7, 2011 So if she only comes with fist hands, how does Volks think she can hold her broom that comes with her? That doesn't make much sense to me... Yep that was my exact thought. I don't really have anything to complain since I already owned many different other hands from my DD2s but to me first time doll buyer who bought Marisa will be in for a surprise and then forced with a quick trip to Volks again for some optional hands since she can't pose much with that fist hand. Well I guess that suits Volks just fine.
mitsuki Posted March 7, 2011 That's so crazy. At least they should give her the normal hands that come standard on DDs. I agree that first time parents will be wondering why she doesn't come with regular hands at least. I have a bunch of optional part hands too, so it won't bother me. The cost of DD airfare is more of a problem. At least it is still cheaper than human airfare.

Well I guess that suits Volks just fine. That kind of stinks. But I guess that's one way to get you into the Volks store or onto their site to spend more money. Kinda rude tho if you ask me. I'm not downing the girls tho, I still think they are quite awesome. I just find it odd that they give you things with the doll that you can't really use right out of the box. I guess if you look at it like TV remotes, it's similar. You get a remote control but no batteries for it. Except with batteries, they are found everywhere and not just at one store in a whole country. Congrats on your girl tho, she is really cute! sharddarkness Posted March 14, 2011 Wow! Now my interested in perked! But, I never saw anything like that on the english volks' site... I've only seen the Normal DDs, MDDs and the DDdys...
mitsuki Posted March 14, 2011 This body type is not standard yet. So far only the Touhou Dollfie Dreams Reimu and Marisa have this body type. They were available for pre-order back in September 2010. The girls are now arriving at their new homes. There are quite a few posts of them up on figure.fm. There may be limited girls announced for Dolls Party (Dolpa) events in the future with this body type. The next one is Tokyo 25 (the 25th Dolpa held in Tokyo) at the end of April. There should be more information about it at the end of March. Eventually, the body type will become a standard base body and available to purchase from the website just like the Normal DD, MDD and DDdy base bodies. mitsuki Posted July 2, 2011 Dolpa Kobe's release of Akihabara Afterschool Girl Akira is the next chance to get a DDS body. So far there is no word of the body becoming standard but optional parts will be released:
jadepixel Posted July 3, 2011 I have a feeling that DDS body will be available soon, since we are getting option parts. Besides, now they have the new DD3 to tease us with instead jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

Galvatim Posted July 3, 2011 I just had a thought, and maybe someone who has both DDS and DDII has tried this, but would say, the DDS torso and the DDII legs work together to make a DD at a height between the two bodies?
baldylox Posted July 3, 2011 I just had a thought, and maybe someone who has both DDS and DDII has tried this, but would say, the DDS torso and the DDII legs work together to make a DD at a height between the two bodies? Altho I haven't tried it, I don't think the pins and sockets are the same size between the torso and legs. I know for a fact that the arms on the DDS are smaller pegged and I think the legs are too where they go into the hip joints. And the DD2 torso piece is a bit longer than the DDS one too. So I'm not sure if it would work out well or not even if the pieces fit together. I'm glad to see that the DDS parts will become available tho. I already have broken pieces on mine and I wasn't even rough with it. The 2 cylinders that hold the arm pegs to the hsoulders are already split across the top all the way across. So the arms were swinging limply and couldnt hold themselves out or up. So I to use some Plastic Weld epoxy to repair them. They seem fine now but I'll still buy a replacement now they will be available. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Suzu Posted November 6, 2011 I'm just wondering about the optional parts. They look like almost a complete doll. Is it possible if I'm buying the DDS optional parts, a pair of hands and a head, (add eyes, makeup and a wig of course) is this enough to assemble a DDS? It looks like the optional parts come with inner frame parts. So it should be ok am I right? I like the DDS body pretty much and since it's not possible to order it as a standard body I'm just checking my possibilities. Would be glad if you can help me. BTW on Volks site not all DDS optional parts are available right now. Guess I have some time to think if I'm buying a new doll.
baldylox Posted November 6, 2011 From what I gather by looking at the prices and the pics of the parts, you can indeed build an entire DDS body from the replacement parts. It won't be cheap tho. But yes, if you get all the parts along with a head and option hands, you can build your own DDS girl. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Suzu Posted November 6, 2011 Thank you Billy! Maybe it's cheaper to buy a complete body when volks finally decided to sell them as standard bodies. ^^'
