Umineko Family is Complete (Maria MDD)

I've been wanting Maria for a very long time but had given up hope. When I first saw her, I hadn't become the hopeless DD addict that I am now and passed on her thinking, 'she's cute but not my thing.'

 

Then I saw Beatrice who I loved the design of but I really wanted to understand her character and her story so I could more mentally get behind such a large expenditure. (It's just my method for processing and has no real rational behind it)

 

I watched the anime and I was hooked. Beatrice is not only 'The Golden Witch' and the misbegotten heroine of her story but the other star was/is dear Maria who is the 'The Witch of Origins'. Beatrice defends and protects Maria and they work together throughout the series.

 

How could I not take the opportunity to adopt her for Beatrice when I found her? *^^*;;;;;; I have to say, Maria's extras are my favorite and a large part of why I spent so much to acquire her new on the secondary market. Sakutaro is a lion and her best friend who was sewn by her absentee mother especially for Maria. When Maria has to spend long weekends alone, she uses her magic to bring Sakutaro to life and they find happiness playing together in the empty hours Maria spends waiting for her mother~

 

So that's Maria in a nutshell. I am so happy to have her home and to complete my Umineko Family for now.

Ahhh! So adorable! I think Maria is one of the sweetest looking MDD's out there! Congrats on adding her to your family! I had no idea she was from the same anime as Beatrice tho.

 

I hope we get to see more of her soon!

Thank you both for the congratulations! I said 'no more dolls this year' and already I have broken my promise. It's all warm and fuzzy new DD feelings over here.

The short answer:

 

Yes. Although she is never responsible for killing anyone- she is questionably sane for a majority of the show and super, SUPER creepy.

 

The long answer:

 

Umineko is not really a straightforward anime with heroes and villains with lines clearly drawn between what is good and what is evil. Much of the actual truth and story remain hidden until the plot develops a good few eps in (5 or 6, really).

 

Beato and Maria are both really complicated characters and as "witches" they certainly flip between "good" and "bad". You'd really have to watch to get a better idea but as Beatrice is immortal, life and death have no real implications for her and so her actions reflect that trait. Usually people watch the first few episodes and are like, "zomg, sick- she's evil!" but if you stick around for the story and discover what has been going on... well, there's actually a lot more going on under the surface.

 

A good portion of the show is actually about philosiphy and the nature of reality. We all choose our own truths (given our experiences) and act accordingly.

Well, after she kills you then she can bring everyone back to life so everything is basically null and void. Beatrice can totally be a jerk face but she has reasons for what she does and she isn't inherently a cruel or evil person.

 

I think I have to watch the anime again now because I love it so much. The intro song is pretty amazing too. ^^

They are really long! ^^;;; Probably better than the anime but I am only part way through the Vn myself. The anime and the manga are EXCELLENT tho'! Thank you for the congrats- I am still thrilled I was able to land her. I never though I would.

 

@ DefectiveA: She's much cuter in the people pics who have her than the promo photos. I never liked her wig until I saw it in person and it's actually pretty cute! Thank you for the compliments on the family- it's taken a couple of years but I am slowly getting there. I am trying to not get ahead of myself and wait and see if they release anymore Umineko dolls.... there are so many girls from that show who would make darling DDs.

She is SO adorable, and looks so great with your other girls!!! What a cutie, and I love her default outfit so much! (And I'm a plushie addict, her little lion is too cute)
