Yami Usagi Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) So, I've decided to "officially" move ahead with my aspirations for a second Dollfie Dream! I added my second girl's name to my signature here and talked about her on my blog, but haven't talked about her at all here! DD #2 will be named Kanade, and I've had the idea for her since before Celeste was finished. Celeste embodies the graceful and mature ladies I admire, but Kanade represents my love of Japanese traditional fashion and culture...with a few personal tweaks. Also, while Celeste's red hair is a color I love, my absolute favorite hair color is white which Kanade will have. That way I'll have dolls with both of my favorite hair colors! My story for Kanade is that she is not human, but a Japanese spirit in reform. One of my favorite Japanese phantoms is the yuki onna(snow woman) who lives in the snowy mountains and often leads lost travelers to their doom. Kanade is one of these spirits who recently went through rehabilitation to no longer be evil, and is now trying to live a normal life. However because of her rehabilitation, Kanade is rather dull. Some would describe her as lifeless, and her personality closely resembles Yuki Nagato or Tenshi. She likes bitter food and spends most of her time sitting on the floor. Because of her past as a yuki onna, Kanade possesses (now) limited ice magic. Kanade’s style is primarily traditional Japanese. This includes kimono, haori, geta, and hair worn up with pins. However, she is not opposed to venturing into wa loli style kimono or Chinese dresses. I'll have tons of fun with her wardrobe since one of my Pureneemos already dresses this way! Choosing her head sculpt was difficult since I wanted a pouty mouth, and the only heads with those are limited and expensive. But in the end, I decided on the DDH 09 since it is more angular than Celeste's 06, but still round enough in the cheeks to make Kanade look young. Ideally I would have semiwhite skin to compliment the white hair and reinforce her being s snow spirit, but if we don't see semiwhite 09's for a while, I have no problem settling for normal skin. The body I want is a small bust DDS. I chose the DDS since it is shorter and thinner than the DDII Celeste has, and I think it will make a good contrast between the two. I am only partially confident in these eyes since even though they are gorgeous, I wonder if an "emptier" eye wouldn't suit Kanade's personality better. So in summary, Kanade will have: a DDH 09 head, DDS S bust body, white wig, and blue eyes. I plan to piece her together slowly as I did with Celeste. Hopefully it will not take a year this time, but don't expect her to be finished soon since I am working on a lot of things on the side. I plan to get her wig next and will update with each part whenever I get it! Thank you for reading! Update #1 Tada! New new eyes for Kanade! I decided to sell my Arietta eyes in favor of finding an emptier design. Thankfully these showed up on KK Workshop's ebay store! They're Black Rock Shooter eyes and are a tad darker in person. I think they look great and are definitely better for Kana chan! I'm 90% done with buying stuff for the other doll I'm working on,(not a DD) so Kanade's wig is soon to take priority. Update #2 Update on Kana chan! Suddenly things are moving way way faster than expected. Her wig is on the way and I just bought her head which already has a face up! Update #3 Kanade deserves an update! Things are moving much faster than expected. I intended to commission a faceup on an 09 head, but everything changed when I found an 07 head with the perfect faceup on ebay! I wanted that vacant look and was worrying about how to describe it for my commission, but the artist really nailed it on this faceup! I was also considering something like a beauty mark, but these freckles are ten times better! I never thought I'd own a DD with freckles, but am now super happy I do! A little sad since I was expecting real buns and these are really just curled pigtails. With a head, faceup, wig, and bust, all that Kanade is missing now is a body! I plan to buy a DDS from Volks JP, and the size of my next paycheck determines how soon that will be. It's looking good since I have no figures preordered Update #4 Body bought and shipped! EMS should have it to me in a few days Update #5 The final update! Kanade's body arrived about a week ago. I hoped to find her body secondhand but ended up getting a DDS new from Volks. I like getting things secondhand, but having a brand new body is so nice~ We're still in the bonding stage as I'm trying to sort out her style, but making new outfits is a lot of fun and I'm sure I will bond with Kanade over that. I already have photo stories planned for when she joins the family ^^' I'm thinking about starting a thread to see if I can't find more suitable eyes. I may also try them on Celeste to see how they look before hunting some new ones down.
