emouou Posted November 2, 2014 Hehe, I usually don't post on forums like this (I'm a pretty strict lurker!), but I am just so in love with this community I thought I would get this formality out of the way! I have been enthralled by Dollfies for years. It had to have been somewhere in the early-mid 2000s, I caught a small article in the corner of one of my anime magazines. It's been so long I can't even remember which one! I thought they were so stunning and immediately went online and... was completely daunted by the price tag. My family didn't have a lot of money, so getting this expensive "latest craze in the anime scene" was out of the question. But that didn't deter me from admiring them. I would often mess around on that early, often crashing, Volks.co.jp/en website, trying to put together my dream girl. I would admire pictures of customized dolls I'd find online. I'd watch video reviews. I'd lurk more obscure websites and communities, with a heavy heart, knowing I'd never have my own. Well, nearly ten years later, and I'm a proper adult with a well paying job. I've again picked up the habit of putting parts together in my cart, admiring wigs, admiring clothes, and admiring those stunning customs. I've been biding my time, saving money, trying to decide when to strike, only to see a newly revealed character dollfie of a character that has tons of sentimental value to me. (Ranka Lee!) I always envisioned myself commissioning my own custom for my first, but I think this is just as good! She's completely stunning, really true to her character. If anything, starting with a default character is probably a better way to ease myself into the hobby. I'd had to get a disappointing custom and deter myself. So, presumably sometime next year I'll be a proud dollfie owner! Lol. I know I'm jumping the gun by joining now, but I'm just too excited to contain myself. I literally can't stop lurking these threads! I can't stop looking at pictures of her! I want to throw myself into this community head first! Um, my favorite thing about this community is the pure love I see for all of the dolls. The intricate lives between siblings, the sincere concern for their thoughts and feelings. The modesty censors for box opening images! I can't get over how much I appreciate those modesty censors and how adorable they are. I hope to be able to properly join this community with my own girl soon enough! (I might even cave and wind up making one before Ranka comes out...)
Oni-Chan Posted November 3, 2014 Welcome ♡ Hopefully the wait time for Ranka flies by for you, and we will wait and see who else comes knocking on your door ^w^ I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*
Skaf Posted November 4, 2014 Congratulations in advance! Ranka is an excellent choice for a limited doll I'd say, she's gorgeous and she's a preorder so you're guaranteed to be able to adopt her. I've yet to decide whether or not to preorder her myself but I can definitely see where you're coming from. And dollfies do indeed have a tendency to multiply without you realizing what happened so watch out for that Welcome!
SakuraSylph Posted November 8, 2014 You can expect Ranka to arrive about 12 months after you place your order. Even if she's the first one you order, she may not be the first one to arrive at your house! SakuraSylph

Katiazza Posted November 22, 2014 Welcome to the forums! I guess waiting for Ranka didn't really last very long Seriously, I don't think I could join a hobby and wait a whole year before the first item arrived. It would hurt me lol. It was touching to read about your endeavor with DD's and to know you have been following them (at least on and off) for so many years. When you finally open Miku and see her in person (particularly if you haven't seen a DD in person already) it's a very different experience. I collected dolls before DD's and when I bought my first DD I was super excited-but I assumed it would be like a bigger version of what I had already. Instead, it was a total awe inducing feeling that I felt a bit embarrassed about at first. They're just so different. Unique. Special. I know they're "just dolls" but there's a reason so many people are so in love with them. Anywho, enough of my ramblings. I'm glad you're enjoying the forums and make sure to post lots, everyone loves fresh blood *Yuzu* DDS Yaya *Yuuko* DDIII Aozaki Aoko *Sakura* DDII Uryuu Sakuno
