Want to do a Lina inverse doll? - In progress!

Recommended Posts

Lina

I am planning to do a Lina Inverse doll in a larger scale (I have nothing over 45cm currently) but I'm not sure which sculpt to use. I am planning to use the volks DDS (leaning towards semi white unless anyone has a better suggestion character wise). However volks recently(ish) re-did their website and the additional photos of sculpts seem to be gone. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which sculpt most resembled the character?

I'd prefer to not have to search for a rare head, but if someone knows one that is perfect please post.

Please feel free to post pictures of your sculpts too!

I've been working off and on on this project for awhile, and thought I'd share here what progress I've made!

I really need to go back and re-do her lip line, it washes out in almost every photo I take!

I really love how the armor is coming out, but I'll likely re-do the cape and talismans eventually.

This is everything so far! I had to take a hiatus from the project for awhile but I am very happy so far with everything. All that is left for the outfit is finishing the shoe soles and doing the gloves. I have the charms for the gloves done already.

A Lina Inverse DD would be so cool! I'm thinking the DDH-04 head might work, or maybe the 06. Of course, you could always sand and mod the head.

A good friend of mine made a custom Naga.

We never did figure out the outfit...

She looks lovely! Where did your friend get the eyes?

I'd love to see more pictures! Which part of the outfit did your friend hit a snag in?

Those crazy spiky shoulder pads, and most of the other armor bits. We'd need to sculpt those by hand. It's not impossible, but mitsuki just never got around to it.

I'm not sure which eyes those are, I'll ask.

OK, the eyes are from DD Mari Illustrious Makinami.

I've been thinking about how to do the armor for Zelda so there must be some cosplayer somewhere who could do this but just on a smaller scale no?

I think for the Naga armor with spikes you could probably use those spikes that are on punk jewelry, and just spray paint them.

For Lina's armor I'm debating using clay and using some kind of craft jewel for the gems.

Have any of you looked into Worbla?

I haven't worked with it myself but after looking into it online (watching tutorials and reading up on the material) I think it would be great for this type of projects. I also know it's very popular among cosplayers.

There's even some threads on DoA about this stuff, making armor pieces.

Maybe worth a look..?
