I think I like 1 but it is hard to decide. They are both very cute.

I think for my tastes, I'd go with #1 as well. But #2 is also nice.

I see #2 as a more spunky, outgoing girl with the possibility of some attitude or Tsundere tendancies.

#1 looks to be the more shy type and probably more girly too.

So it will depend on what your girl is like as to which style you will go with. At least thats how I feel on this. But both styles look good, I can't wait to see which one you choose on the actual DD head.

I have heard a lot about the MDD body being hard to pose. It might be safer to go with the DD2 base body.

I have heard the same things about the MDD body. Maybe Ms. Geek will post in here because she has one that she's not all that happy with for posability. I would also suggest the DDII body for your girl. That is, unless you want to wait for the DDS to become available and get one of those.

I would recommend a DDII body over MDD. MDD isn't bad, just not as sturdy as DDII. The arms on my Louise always seem to pop out slightly at the elbows, and the 'hidden' extra elbow joint from DDII is left out on MDD. It's not as annoying as, say, the 1/6 scale pure neemo flection, which pops apart just by posing it, and was a step backwards from the obitsu 1/6 body Azone has been using (And the feet are still too small...).

MDD is not a body for action posing though, more of a stand/sit there and be cute body. I think Volks should introduce an MDDII body, though I think the DDS will reduce the chances of that somewhat... I guess it would depend on the Japanese market, and what type of anime/games are in demand...

I have a MDD body with the redesigned knees. Namiko can stand on her own two feet and remain standing until Kingdom Come. However, the fact that the MDD does NOT have a continuous DDIF (armature) inside of it means it tends to come apart at the worst possible moments. When they were redesigning the knees because of user clamor about the MDDs inability to stand, they should have considered re-engineering everything, including giving the MDD a continuous, locking skeleton like DD2, DDDy and (apparently) DDS.

Until Volks gets a clue on this we do have an alternative soon-come: Obitsu 40cm. If you want a little girl body that can pose like crazy doing a Volbitsu hybrid might be the best possible solution.

Say what? Where is there a hidden extra elbow joint on a DDII?

Here is a discussion and photos on the hidden joint:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/dollfiedream/discuss/72157622421411369/

"The inner skeleton is designed to bend more with a secretive joint inside the upper arm part that almost bends the inner arm skeleton in it's lower 1/3 position!! This gives almost 10-20% more than before and it's actually made to pop in and pop out. You just pull, pop and extent the joint all the way out and then you can bend the arms more than the normal 90 degrees! Then straighten the arm and you can push it back in so it can fall into place.

You can also bend the legs more with the specially designed inner joints it's designed to pop out and not bend or wrinkle the vinyl part."

Holy crap! I had no idea!

Looks like I'll be trying these out on the next photoshoot I do with the girls. Should work well with long sleeved shirts too... You won't be able to see the extended joints like that!

Thanks so much for that info Mitsuki! You come to the rescue yet again....

The hidden elbow joint is really useful, and not always too noticible.

I've also found that the ankles can rotate on both sides of the joint, like a Figma.

Hadn't heard this mentioned before. Could be useful for some wide stance poses.

I've read about some MDD problems as well. The only problem that i see from DDII is the size.

Now some Hybrid is a good idea or i wait for DDS.

It is. I also really, really love my MDD body. She just needs screw tightening more often than the DDs do. It's easy to do and then she's good as new. She can also stand easily as well so maybe that's a legacy issue. It's not that the MDD doesn't need an upgrade, it'd be great if Volks fixed those issues but it's a super cute body and I love the MDD.

As far as your face-up ideas, I really think they are both great! It's more about the style of head you ordered as that can really dictate what you think looks best on your new girl. I actually have to sit with the head mold for a bit before deciding who she's going to be. it can be a really tough decision!

If they re-engineer the Mini Dollfie Dream with engineering cues from Dollfie Dream Sister, they would have a real winner on their hands.

DDS is really a step beyond for Dollfie Dream, and the culmination of 7 years of DD bodies "in the wild."

Hotaru on Figure FM did a tear-down to show that, yes, DDS has a fully continuous skeleton, like DD2 and DDDy, but unlike MDD.

http://www.figure.fm/post/en/24521/DDS+internal+frame+part+2+whole+body.html

My Namiko-tan has the improved knees that were quietly slipped in about a year ago. She can stand until the cows come home. However, she is fairly inflexible and somewhat floppy otherwise. The thing that annoys the most are the arms that go to pieces at the least provocation. Eventually, when a base DDS is released, she will "hit puberty" and get DDS as a replacement body. I like the sculpt. I was considering turning her into a Volbitsu hybrid but Hotaru's photos have convinced me to wait for DDS base bodies.
