Volks x Type Moon Preorder Project!

I really don't like the sound of "Please note that while specifications for the TYPE-MOON x DD items will be the same for both first and second production runs, there may be some slight variances in batch such as materials used, etc."

 

 

You and me both. Even tho I ordered my Saber Extra last week and will get her in the first round, I still feel bad about that happening. My fear is that the fabrics for things will change to a lower quality on the second run and cause issues. I hope it won't happen but I do fear that. But who knows, maybe it's just Volks being overly cautious this time since Saber is so popular.

I doubt anything will change, it's been years since Alter and the new one is apparently the same. I'd say it was a generic disclaimer. Frankly I find the whole delay bizzare anyway, international surely has more orders and they haven't done anything similar.

I like the dress for the Saber Alter but coughing up $600 yikes that's like the price of one college class at U of H in Texas! O.O

Volks International does have the same delay (2 months) and disclaimer as well. They've also shortened their preorder period to end Oct 25 for online orders and say that some orders already accepted might be delayed.

The release has also been changed. Instead of us getting them in April, they'll arrive in June. That's quite a long wait. What I don't understand is this, is this for everyone who preordered or only the later preorders? Either way, it didn't take my resin dolls this long to be made! (Lol, that was a little joke, I'm not serious)

^^ For Volks USA, if your order is confirmed by September 29 7pm PST (time is a guess, I think they cut off at the exact same time as Volks International), then Volks USA's target delivery date is April 2012. Customer order after that, Volks USA's target delivery date is June 2012. For Volks International, customer has their order confirmed before September 30, 11am JST will get a target delivery date of January/February 2012. Customers ordered after that will get a target delivery date of after March 2012.

Yeah, I just got some more info on it too. The first group (in the USA) will have their dolls arrive in April, but people who ordered after the 29th of September will have them arrive in June.

Waiting for the next round doesn't bother me, I don't mind waiting for a guaranteed order. I'm a bit undecided if I'll go for saber...but if I DO decide to get one I think Saber Alter is the DD for me. I feel like she'll balance out Beato well as my 2nd DD. If my 3rd DD is the Rider I'm hopeful will be made someday...my collection will have quite a few dark dangerous women

Wow only 8 days into the pre-order period and it's already getting broke up into 2 different pre-order periods on when the Sabers will be delivered.

 

Makes you wonder if it will get broke down into a 3rd pre-order period. Because the date stated for the 2nd pre-order period to the end of the actual pre-order is a much longer time frame. It just seems the time frames are a bit unbalanced. Volks probably expected a high order volume, but I guess it became a much higher number than they exected.

 

I wonder if things would have went smoother and a lesser chance of delays if they would have followed the same format like they did with the White Album girls pre-order?

 

Because if I'm not mistaken the White Album project was already set to be in 2 pre-order periods. The early pre-order you received the bonus swimsuit and the second round didn't. Seemed like better planning on Volks part with that one.

 

And because I like randomly checking things out I found this piece of info that makes a huge difference in the 2 pre-orders. On this page for Yuki http://www.volksusa.com/ddim019.html it has in all the pre-order info this statement: *4. During the Final Pre-Order Period, each customer may pre-order one of each item. If we receive more than one Pre-Order by the same person, we will cancel all of that person's orders.* I'm assuming that went to the second round of pre-orders.

 

And on Saber's page http://www.volksusa.com/ddim022.html it has this: *During the Pre-Order Period, each customer may pre-order multiples of the same item. There is no item limit this time.* I guess that little detail could help with the increased order number, along with the fact it's Saber and the US payment plan option. If someone had the money to burn they could make a Saber army of Extras and Alters.

 

This was just something that makes you think and wonder. Or at least I was bored enough to think about it and check out the differences.

 

I still haven't put an order in yet for either Saber. But the more I see Saber Alter the more I would love to have her the most.

That's what I was thinking, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who are planning to get multiple Sabers and sell them on Ebay and Yahoo Japan Auctions for ridiculous amounts.

So I asked Volks USA to clarify the different materials comment and whether or not they would be using a different factory to meet the demand. Here is the reply they sent (and yes I asked and was granted permission to post it publicly.)

 

The dolls will still be made by our same factory in Japan. The changes

mentioned are because the number of orders we have received has

exceeded one "batch" or "run."

 

This means that in the second run there may be slight differences in

the fabric texture, color, hair color, etc. from models in the first run.

 

Please be assured that all of the models produced during this pre-

order will still live up to the high standards of quality that customers

expect from VOLKS.

 

So I think this is mostly a dye lot type warning. Meaning if you really wanted to have twin Sabers they might not be exact twins if from different lots, or if you don't keep the outfits that came with each doll together as a lot then you might have a slight shade variation from one part of the outfit to the next.

 

This is pretty common actually. For example if you've ever bought tile you know that if you don't buy it all at once there's a very good chance the color of the new tile won't exactly match the old tile even if it's the same brand, model, etc. due to dye lot variations.

 

They also told me in their second reply that they are working to reword the announcement and place it directly on the page for the individual items to make things more clear.

 

Hopefully that's helpful to anyone else who also found the warning a little disconcerting.

lol, Saber is going to be by far the most common character dollfie now, that's pretty bizzare.

Any speculation as to what type of hands the new Sabers will be coming with?

 

All the photos of Saber Extra seem to have her with the 06 hands (sword holding), but the photos of Saber Alter have default (01) and 06 hands in different images.

 

Of course Volks could have just switched out the hands for their promo pictures but I'm curious

Release feels so far away

I'm sure like Saber and Saber Lily they'll come with both the 01 and 06 hands. Lily came with three sets of hands. 01, 06, and white gloved 06.

 

*facepalm* omg, I honestly didn't remember if my Lily came with a set of plain 06 hands... I must have left them in the box and forgotten about them since February

I remember the white gloves and the armor hands. Guess I'm going to have a rummage in her box now - it's always good have another set of hands LOL

They are really pretty - and the picture of them sitting in the little dish on black fabric amuses me. It makes me think of a googly-eyed muppet for some reason! LOL

I wish Extra gets released on Jan instead of Feb *_* that would make it sooner for me !
