Collie Posted December 8, 2014 Hey there! I'm Collie, a 23-year-old avid BJD collector from Germany. I've known Dollfie Dreams since I've joined my main hobby three years ago and was always fascinated by them - though not enough to imagine owning one! Now due to a friend I fell in love with the new Sheryl Nome and I'm seriously considering getting her as my first DD. Since I still got some time left till her pre-order closes, I figured joining this forum and learning loads about DDs, their care and handling (which seems to differ quite a bit from my resin BJDs) would be the best I could to to help me decide whether I'm truly ready to take the plunge into the DD hobby yet! Hope I'll be having a great time here, looking forward to it!
SydiaYuki Posted December 8, 2014 You're welcome! I hope you'll get all the infos you need and fun in this community Sheryl is an interesting mold indeed for me, personally speaking i will wait to see if someone who preordered her will try , once she will start to be shipped, to customize her faceup to decide if i'm interested or not , since i don't like to keep my girls with standard/original face ups , so yours is good choice indeed ****** My Custom DD outfits shop ******My Custom Faceups shop ****** Girls at home: Lilac - DD2 WS + DDH-06 /Primrose - White Christmas Alna head /Iris - DDS NS + DDH-05 modded /Amaryllis - MDD NS + DDH-06 modded
Collie Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks for the welcome! I've already learned a lot of stuff just from lurking here, so I'm really happy I got here! And I also made the decision to definitely buy Sheryl, so I'll be sticking around! She's really unique looking to me (speaking as a newb who can't completely differentiate between the available heads yet) in regards of her nose and lips! I got to admit that I don't even know about the whole Macross series and Sheryl as a character herself, so I'm not keeping her character and definitely going to aim for a custom face-up too! Hope it's the right place to ask - though it's in relation to your situation - but how's the second hand market for pre-order dolls like this? I can only imagine her being a lot more expensive once the pre-order is over and the first ones are starting to ship (just another reason for me to rather buy her now!), so is it really worth it to wait and see? sklurk Posted December 10, 2014 I'm also new, but from my combing through yahoo japan auctions, I've seen prices on miku pretty close to the retail price that people paid for the preorder up to about 20% markup. You can probably expect the same. Because a preorder will put out the number of dolls that people want, it's really unlikely the demand will outpace the supply. Macross Frontier is now going on 6 years old. I feel this release is a bit late, so a lot of macross fans won't be as rabid to get their hands on her as vocaloid fans were to get miku. Limited dolls I think have a much higher chance of going up to double in price, but there are some limiteds that just spike in value and then tank below their purchase price. So it really depends on the sculpt and the popularity of the character. If they were to release a mikasa limited right before attack on titan season 2 starts, for example, you'd probably see her pricing up in the thousands of USD. Then again, titan isn't exactly full of frilly girly girls, so it would be hard to say what would happen there.
