baldylox Posted December 13, 2014 I've had trouble keeping my doll area clean, since it's right by my bed (LOL) what would you do to keep it clean/ well organized? It depends on what you have there.... is it just your dolls? Do they use stands or sit on furniture? For me, I have girls on stands and in chairs and on couches. Keeping that area clean is easy enuff because with over 30 girls there, there's really no room for anything else to go there. But sometimes shoes or hats and stuff find their way in between the girls feet so to keep that cleaned up, I just look for things when I'm getting ready to go to bed. A quick scan is all you need. and another question, where do you store your clothes/accessories/wigs and etc. and how?I have everything EVREYWHERE it's a mess SOMEONE HELP!! I keep all my clothes in large plastic containers that are designed to slide up under a typical bed. These are easy to get at Wal-Mart and only cost about $15 each. And they hold a TON of clothing. Here's a pic of them at the foot of the bed in the old guest room: DSC_6093 by balldylox, on Flickr You can also use these plastic drawer sets like the one to the left in this pic: DSC_6092 by balldylox, on Flickr I like having everything neat and easy to get to so bins like this are a must for me. Hopefully this gives you some ideas for how you can keep things clean and organized. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. ikumi Posted December 13, 2014 Yes! Thank you so much! It's nice to see a reply!! I usually don't get those lol thank you so much for the help, I only have one dd but I always have trouble keeping her area clean and this is much help!!! Thanks again
baldylox Posted December 13, 2014 Yes! Thank you so much! It's nice to see a reply!! I usually don't get those lol thank you so much for the help, I only have one dd but I always have trouble keeping her area clean and this is much help!!! Thanks again You're welcome! Even if you only have one DD right now, if you're like me, you spoil her with all sorts of clothing and accessories. And you need a place to put them so using those plastic containers makes sense if you have the room. If you don't have the room for those kind of containers tho then maybe you can clean out a drawer or two from a dresser or something. As for keeping things clean where she sits or stands, just do a daily cleaning on it. If you clean it well one day and then check it for stuff every day, it makes it WAY easier to keep it clean and uncluttered. Let us know how you get things set over there! waha Posted December 13, 2014 I keep my clothes in plastic tubs similar to Billy's but smaller, lets me stack them on top of a wardrobe so they're not in the way. As for shoes I keep them in drawers in one of my Ikea glass-door cabinets that I also keep my girls in now thanks to having young cats
baldylox Posted December 14, 2014 That's by FAR the most amount of DD and/or MDD shoes I've EVER seen! An amazing collection and it's also so neat and organized looking! I wish I had the space to do this with my shoes.... all mine are stuffed into a drawer with no rhyme or reason. And I know it drives Sprout nuts too since she's my resident shoe fanatic. xhuxhurocket Posted December 15, 2014 I use one of those stackable plastic 3 drawer things, but I need another to keep up with the ever expanding wardrobe. My dolls' shoes are kept on a shallow shelf, but again I'm running out of room there! My winter cleaning project is going to be getting the dolls and their goodies all organized. I have a large number of resin girls and boys of all sizes too and right now everything is so disorganized and cluttered! It makes me cringe so I just keep the doll room door closed but that's not really a solution
ikumi Posted December 16, 2014 Wow, sounds like you've got a lot of cleaning to do, I might be checking in on getting a plastic drawer/stackables for my doll corner, you guys have made ALOT of help! Thank you so much, and might I say, THOSE ARE SO MANY SHOES great collection!!
Amara77 Posted January 2, 2015 I need to get some more storage containers like these. I have a bureau but it's full, the dolls are taking over my apartment. http://amara77.wordpress.com blog and shop Spoke too soon....
BeyondTime Posted January 15, 2015 I have the exact same comforter in the post by Baldylox. Its a queen size and its beautiful although it is showing it's age now after almost 20 years. It bled dye in the wash for like 2 years after I got it too. The pictures of the all the shoes made me think Imelda Marcos would have turned green with envy at seeing that collection. I think I want to get a display case with drawers like that one. Pulaski makes on that is beautiful, but it's costs as much as two LE dolls. For now I went and got some plastic organizing bins at home depot. For jewelry and small items I picked up a few of the divided cases you use to keep nuts and bolts sorted and transportable. You can find those in the tools section. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
Yukamina Posted January 15, 2015 I store my doll stuff in decorative boxes you can find at Michaels, Home Sense, places like that (I don't really like how plastic containers look). I also bought a drawer/cabinet/shelf thing from Ikea. I display my dolls on top, and I store more dolls stuff in the drawers and cupboards. There's even a couple shelves on it for the decorative boxes ^^ My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
Coco Posted January 16, 2015 Haha, you know, my brother also has that same comforter for twin size, although since he moved out, I haven't seen it. XD Oof though, my dollie stuff collection has gotten completely out of hand. I've got those plastic bins full of everyday clothes, flat and thin storage bins for the expensive or fancy clothing to keep them nice, a small bin for hats, an Ikea four cube with fabric drawers for Dollheart boxes, clothes in bags, and accessories, and a couple of small boxes for food erasers in each small and large sizes. Then two more smaller fabric bins for maintenance and small resin parts. Agh, I'ma need a professional organizer, because I have stuff everywhere. Although, I stacked my plastic drawer bins on top of each other, and it works pretty well. If I had the space, I would like to get a more modular storage solution for my dolls, so that their stuff doesn't spread around my room so much. Heavens, all those shoes. So jealous! Rika needs a collection like that.

I think I got it at Walmart about 10 years ago and it came as a set of bedding with pillow covers and everything. It's quite comfy and I'll keep using it til it falls apart. BeyondTime Posted January 17, 2015 Buncha dang copycats I tells ya! That's way funny that this comforter is so popular! I think I got it at Walmart about 10 years ago and it came as a set of bedding with pillow covers and everything. It's quite comfy and I'll keep using it til it falls apart. Mine came in the same set. I would say the comforter itself just needs some stitching near the seams in one or two spots. The sheets wore out eventually, and so did the pillowcases. They also stained the pillows inside them blue. Before I had a bed with headboard they also stained the walls they were up against blue. Hopefully your set has better quality dyes. To get back on topic I also went with shallow stackable bins as opposed to deep ones for the clothing. I sort of figured stacking it really deep wouldn't be good for it. So far I only have a few outfits in addition to the ones the dolls came with. They were really cheap at Home Depot. I'm starting to plan my first Taobao order, so the amount of clothing I have is going to grow pretty soon. I'm going to need more storage. I really like some of the Kimono's by Air Castle and I think I will need something large enough to allow them to lie flat and not get folded anywhere. Coco Posted January 17, 2015 Ooh, please share pictures of what you find. I've found Rika's new hakama doesn't fit my bins very well, and I haven't so far seen a bin that's both long and kind of shallow. Haven't been looking too hard, but still. It'll probably get worse when I'm storing full kimono and 70cm fancy clothes too.
Skaf Posted January 20, 2015 As several other people I also use plastic containers: However, the combination of never remembering which item belongs to what outfit and liking to mix and match outfit parts is not a good one so I've spent some time the last week to write a web app where I can import my collection from MFC and then add notes so I can look at either a certain girl or a certain outfit and see exactly where all parts of an outfit currently is. I can also of course look at an outfit and see it what box it's being stored.

Savaryne Posted January 25, 2015 I used to use an assortment of plastic bins for all my doll stuff but it just didn't really work for me. Always had to find a spot to stack them and seemed to trip over them. It also wasn't ideal for smaller bits. So I bought this lovely unit from Ikea. I wasn't quite finished putting it together here, the top row has smaller drawers for the little pieces. I think it's just fantastic and so pretty too! Ayuuya Posted January 25, 2015 I'm in the middle of reorganizing my dolly space right now haha. The previous space got so cluttered... I was previously using smaller plastic containers & shelves to try and contain some of the chaos. But now I'm slowly making the spare room in my house into a hobby area. It was only natural for my dolls to claim it as theirs... :'D I'm still seeing how well this current set up works. Current dolly space ww by merongie, on Flickr The three drawer plastic rolly thing currently contains a majority of the Dollfie Dream clothes, my poor msd boys still have their clothes stuck in the three boxes on the shelf under Rise ww I have yet to figure out a way to organize their shoes, and until I figure it I'll probably continue to find shoes hidden in my bedroom. I was going to just line them up on the shelves, but I have nosy dogs so... >__> The only downside to this is that now my dolls are half in this room and half in mine-- I think I'll move them all back into my room after I move their stuff out to make room for them
Lina Posted March 15, 2015 I store my doll stuff in a lot of different places. Jewelry armoires make good storage and furniture, so they're my favorite to store in. I also use boxes for furniture when not in use. Some of my smaller stuff goes in a faux hallowed out book I bought a Ross a few years ago. I also tend to use default boxes for storage for long wigs. Wayfinder Posted December 28, 2015 I'm currently using an assortment of labelled plastic boxes and small cardboard boxes inside a larger cardboard box. It's not very convenient for access or storage because every time I want something, I need to pull the whole thing out and dig through it. I have very restricted living and storage space available, so space efficiency and convenience of access is very important to me. I was hoping to get some ideas from this thread, but I think I might have to figure something out for myself - perhaps nested levels of stackable plastic containers, as I use for my doujinshi collection...
