Gunter Posted October 24, 2015 Does anyone saw a Sakuya Maxima remake up? I can only think of one off the top of my head, which is Total's: You can see more shots in the auction link in the description. ^^ Not a lot of people seem to change Sakuya's face-up, which is weird to me honestly. Feels like a mold with a lot of potential. These are all wonderful! <3 Anyone have any of Feena or Miku, by chance? LOTS of people gave Miku a new face-up due to how easy you can get her. Can probably literally just look up "Volks Miku" in flickr or Google and find a bunch. I'll show my favorite though. :3 Volks DD Hatsune Miku by Makoto Kojima, on Flickr I love, love, love this Miku to the fullest haha. The attitude change, and the eye make-up is amazing. Definitely recommend checkin' their shots out. (they actually have two custom mikus) Does anyone have a link to the tan Miku that went up on Y!J a while back? Was cool seeing someone else do what I wanted to do to the one I had on pre-order originally.

Was cool seeing someone else do what I wanted to do to the one I had on pre-order originally. Wow, she looks amazing! (And 2 custom Mikus? Dangg) I didn't think Miku could be used for non-animetic eyes, but I guess I was proven wrong. And I figured a lot of people had her from seeing her around a lot of places I look at DDs in, but most of the ones I've seen have the standard faceup. Although, I could be looking in the wrong places so I'll try again and see what pops up this time around. And as for the tan Miku, I do remember seeing the link in the "Cute Customs on YHJ!" thread, so I went back and pulled it up: http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c529367817 Although I think the custom doll turned out wonderfully, the red eyes they used I'm not very fond of on her. Not quite sure why, but it just doesn't look right to me. Home: Melt (DDH-09), Kano (Iris Collect), Kirika, Y'Shtola, Suzune (Iris Collect Petite)

SisterKyoya Posted November 14, 2015 I own the Kos-Mos that Anouc previously posted, I'm working on turning my other Kos-Mos into a boy (he's about half done), I just got Sheryl Nome and she will have a new faceup, and one of the Snow Miku I preordered will be made into an entirely new character once they arrive, but even that depends on what Volks decides what to do about Rin & Len. I don't have any photos right now though... Knowing that if you screw up a faceup on a limited head that it could be difficult or expensive to replace really makes doing custom faceups on them a lot more nerve-wracking, at least for me. It is really interesting to see the naked sculpt under the paint. I really wish more people would take picks of the blank limited heads. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

Shinozaki Lolita Posted November 14, 2015 What named paint are you using? I know it's acrylic paint tho ._.
SisterKyoya Posted November 14, 2015 I've done many faceups with regular acrylic craft paint (Delta Ceramcoat brand is what I have) but the last two faceups I used the Volks acrylic paints. The Volks one are really a lot better. I'm assuming since the Volks paint is a higher quality, I believe there is a lot more pigment for the same volume in a drop of paint. The biggest benefit to this is the ability to thin the viscosity of the paint with thinner, making fine lines much more possible, without the look of the color becoming watered down. Another reason I wouldn't recommend standard craft paint is I'm still not sure if it has the tendency to stain the vinyl, even if a base coat of the ZM Finishing Powder Spray has been used. Since I've only painted my own DD heads I understood that this was a risk before I did it. Frankly though, the Volks paints are so much easier to use and are very nice as well. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

I don't know. I'm really not a painter and I've never used that type of paint. I can do my own faceups because I've made myself learn, but only enough to do faceups. As an example, here's my first attempt at Rainie's faceup, and then when I tried to fix it... eventually I sent her off to Anouc to do it for me. (She is awesome!) Now compare that to my most recently completed faceup, Darla. I really don't see myself as any sort of painter at all, but I've learned enough, practiced enough to keep my hand steady, to end up with the results I wanted. Also tiny brushes help a ton too. I hope someday that I can get some of the Volks brushes but until then I'll just keep using the tiniest ones I can find where I live. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

Yenna Posted November 14, 2015 I paint all my dolls myself, limited or not. They just don't feel like mine, unless I paint them. Here's my Kirika before I got her nicer eyes: I might want to widen her mouth at some point some more, but for now she'll do. <3 Blog & Dimensiondolls Store

Anna-neko Posted November 26, 2015 wow!!
