baldylox Posted December 29, 2014 I really didn't have much free time over the Christmas holiday so I never did a story for my girls on Christmas morning like I've done in the past. While I *did* get some things for them as a group, I just hadn't taken pics yet.... but I will next week when I get more time off. Anyways, back to these pics. I sent out Xmas cards that I made again this year and in doing the setup for that, my GF got my camera and took some shots while I was setting up. I always get a kick out of behind the scenes stuff so I figured I'd share a few of mine. Here's me setting up the lighting for the shoot. DSC_3807 by balldylox, on Flickr Positioning the girls... While there, a good friend and I did a swap ( all on her side tho as she was insistant of me taking this off her hands ) and I got this cool antique doll bed. The thing looks really great but it's HUGE and takes up a lot of space. After getting it home, we set it up and had plans to do some pics with it. But it seems my cat Lenny had other plans for it.... On Christmas morning, Lenny decided to see what we were up to and found a nice new toy to play with... DSC_3950 by balldylox, on Flickr I think the bed is better suited for napping Lenny.... I'm guessing she felt left out or ignored so she dressed up in some cat ears and paws to get my attention.... "Nyaaa!" wildmusings Posted January 1, 2015 It's really interesting to see how much work went on behind the scenes for this photo shoot, though hopefully well worth it as your Christmas card photo looked really cool. I like seeing the wide variety of holiday themed costumes/clothing on your girls, along with each of their unique personalities My cat does that too, with the large brass doll bed I have set aside for my future Dollfie Dream! Right now her room is on the bottom shelf of my cabinet behind doors, and every time I open them to access any of the other dolls/rooms Luna makes a mad dash to hop inside and curl up on the bed. I'm thinking I'll need to swap things around so that its on a higher shelf otherwise when the doll actually arrives, she's going to have to fight for some privacy XD She also thinks that my doll carrying case is for her though, anytime I leave it open airing out ^^' Boxes are definitely better suited for cats... and apparently dolls craving attention! She looks so darling in that outfit with the cat ears/paws, definitely earned herself a chocolate by cute factor alone "Treat yourself like you would your most sought after grail doll. I got TWO of those lights off ebay for less than $150 and each one has 5 bulbs in it that you can turn on/off individually. They're really nice. Sometimes it feels like I do more prep work for the shoots than the actual photography session. The girls picked out their outfits and even tho one or two weren't originally Xmas themed, they still worked well. Boxes are definitely better suited for cats... and apparently dolls craving attention! She looks so darling in that outfit with the cat ears/paws, definitely earned herself a chocolate by cute factor alone Oh yeah! DD's also seem to have fun in boxes even when they aren't wanting attention and/or treats. And thank you for the compliments on Manami. That girl knows exactly how to get what she wants from me.... I like the reindeer setup on Mirai too, she looked super sweet in it. As for Kino and the rest of the girls, they had a slimmed down Christmas this year but they still got some nice things that most of them can use. Of course Manami didn't share much of her candy bar with anyone but I did see her offering to Rei and Reiko. Thanks about the bed too. It's a neat setup for sure but I don't need Lenny on it all the time since it's old and he's not light. I'll have to find something else for him to snooze on sooner or later....
