sklurk Posted December 30, 2014 So I'm on a quest. Before leaving to visit family for christmas, I decided to change felicia out of her black clothes... just in case... only to discover that 2 spots on her arms and a nice line around her belly are marked with black. Doh. Oh well.. was bound to happen. So I decided to soak these black in the sink while I was gone... put in some vinegar, filled the sink with water, weighed all the clothes down to the bottom of the sink to make sure they didn't float out of the water. I got back today 5 days later and discovered the water doesn't look any different. Remove the clothes... and now the bottom of my sink is faintly stained black. While visiting my parents, I found some references to a chemical dey binder that when added to the water dyed clothing is soaking in, will collect all the loose dye in the water. It supposedly works for both natural and synthetic fiber textiles... I've emailed the company... let's see if I get any answers on some dye questions. Do clothes stain resin dolls just as much or is it just pvc? I was thinking that if it happens on pvc there must be a chemical reaction going on with the presence of a catalyst maybe from human sweat or oil, not just water. I'm sure this topic has been discussed to death but I figured my story would be funny at least.
Jezrah Posted December 30, 2014 Resins can stain too but people aren't quite as paranoid since a lot of the time it'll come right off with a magic eraser. But that is pretty funny about your sink. Did it come off?
sklurk Posted December 30, 2014 I haven't tried to remove it yet outside the cursory scrub. Since it's also possibly urethane resin or acrylic, it might come out with magic eraser, but I don't have any on hand at the moment.
Keijogirl Posted December 30, 2014 Resin doesn't quite stain as fast as our girls do that's for sure. I'd be interested in the email results that the company sends you. I would love to soak some of my black outfits so my girls don't get stained. Seriously Tama's boobs got a nasty black stain after just a couple of hours (not even a full day) in this black jacket I put on her for a party :c At Home: Kiyo, Hikaru , Nikko, Komaki, Miho, Kana-chan, Tamakits, Illya, Misa, Deku, Nao, Zana, Ciri, Aki, Alisa, Kana, Yuka, Kiki, Komaki (Oni Mode), Ai, Chili, Nagisa, DDh03, Erica, Miyabi, Jun, Haruka, Sasha, and Laila Saving for: Accessories! sklurk Posted December 31, 2014 well the product is called synthrapol from dharmatrading.com If someone closer than me wants to give it a try, it'll be pretty expensive for me to ship across the border to try it. I'm sure it will help remove some of the excess dye, but I also asked about some of the chemistry that might be going on with reactiveness to pvc since they are a chemical company and might actually know how dyes are reacting with the materials. As for the magic eraser, I'm sure these things are an abrasive of some sort and they might actually scrub off layers of material. I'm not exactly sure how they work but they have been known to cause micro scratches (basically just a clouding/scuffing ) clearcoat on car paint before. Though I've used them on car rims without issue and they never rubbed through clearcoat or paint on me, so I don't know what to tell you.

I'm not exactly sure how they work Here's how they work, http://home.howstuffworks.com/magic-eraser.htm They work best on slightly porous or otherwise durable materials. You definitely wouldn't want to use it on a car!
