Did the faceup influence your purchase more than the sculpt?

Have you ever purchased a DD for the faceup rather than the sculpt?

 

I think I have done this twice now! Maybe three times! The first one was my DDH-04. It wasn't my favorite sculpt, but the faceup made her so cute I had to buy her! (She has since been sold, but I do like the sculpt now, and hope to get another on a Sister body.) I also bought Chika, my DDH-01, because I loved her faceup. It gives her so much character.

 

Now I've done it one more time! My Yuji is a DDH-05 sculpt, and I fell in love with his cute faceup, which was done by his seller on DoA. I already have an 05 boy, but I couldn't resist!

Anyone else? Share pics if you have them! Also, do you prefer buying heads with the faceups already on?

Personally speaking, i'm a huge picky person, so it's rare (quite impossible) that i would buy a head for the faceup it has instead of sculpt , because even if i'm a noob i like to paint my girls myself (i'm not that much into 100% classic-anime style so the majority of faceup out there for DD are not in my tastes) so i prefer to buy blank heads (and this means that i would repaint as soon as they arrive even limited heads, infact my only one, Alna was with her faceup already 70% removed from the seller i bought her from and i finished the work to repaint her), blank heads are cheaper and like a white canvas .

 

BUT, there's always a but , i think that some faceups unique/different from more popular 100% anime look on a head i would not otherwise consider buying for his sculpt could at least pick my interest and make me change my mind about that specific mold (mostly of the time i'm really too poor to buy a faceupped head anyway ), so i can see how someone would buy a head for the faceup instead of mold , like you did Galatia9 (i'm thinking for example about the gorgeous modded Orchidcat's Momo/Melocoton , who wouldn't buy her? )

I agree, SydiaYuki, it's difficult to resist a gorgeous custom faceupped head that is all ready to become a new doll for you! Or a limited head that has been wiped at a more resonable price.

 

Surprisingly all of my custom prepainted heads have been very reasonably priced, I've been very fortunate.
