I'm "Buckets" from Vancouver and i just happen to stumble upon Dollfies by accident >.>

I ended up buying a DD base body III and ddh-06 as i fell in love with all the custom Dollfies floating around and wanted to make my own.

 

Hope to make my lil' girl soon... the wait is killin' me ( ≧Д≦)

 

As i am totally new to collecting BJD's and Dollfies, I hope you all can guide me in the right direction ^^;;

^^ any recommendations on where to buy clothes and shoes?

Ebay/aliexpress seller mrebay2008/wamami sells huge amount of stuff for BJD and for DD for cheap from China, various taobao's sellers , Volks itself, some big stores online have a DD-exclusive section, you can find kinda everywhere stuff for DD, for what matters shoes, just sure to check their size and measurements .

 

In matter of dresses is more difficult because there aren't really many which sell DD-exclusive outfits, they are increasing in numeber but they are however not that many still, you can use SD size dresses but don't expect 100% perfect fitting because some dresses for SD size (expecially if not not meant to be "fitted" ) are good on DDs , but others are just too big, because DDs waist is smaller than SD size bjd, also the same applies for arms which are smaller than SD.

Thanks so much~ i gave a look at some of the shops mentioned on the forums... but what does SD13, SD16, etc. mean if its not to much trouble to ask? or if you could direct me to where i could find that on the forums?

SD13, SD16 etc are Super Dollfies sizes, the higher the value the more mature/big is the doll size , since DD are 1/3 scale dolls like SD , and since there are many bodies slightly different in measurements but still in the 1/3 range scale , most shops use to say which "SD size" their stuff fits, it's a kind of standard size-code or at least a quick reference to the dimensions of the outfits/shoes etc. For what i know DD are similar to SD10 and SD13 in matter of measurements , while MDD are similars to MSD (even if in my experience MSD's dress often are big on the chest area on MDDs ) , but i imagine other users would be more helpful about this matter (i'm in the hobby from less then a year and to save money i'm trying to sew myself my girls' outfits, without buying them, i just have one kimono for SD and a borrowed SD Alice's collection brand 's dress )

Yey Vancouver~ Welcome to the forums!

 

Here's a handy chart & notes ( that I took & edited from one of Promise of the World's clothing listings )

 

Size:      MDD    MSD     DD     SDGr    SD13
Chest:    15.5     18    21.5    25      25.5
Waist:    13.5     15    14.5    17      20.3

* MDD size is based on Volks S chest MDD body. If your doll is M or L chest, MSD size is more suitable
* DD size is based on S/M chest. L chest or DY body should pick SD13 size, however the waist will not fit
* Please choose SDGr size for your DD if there's no option for DD

^ L chest would technically fit SDGr clothes according to the measurements

^^ Most places don't seem to use SDGr as a clothing size, probably due to most BJD companies making dolls of similar size to the original SD/SD13/SD16 sizes

Mitsuki has a lovely guide about dollfie body measurements ( here ) and I recommend taking a look to get a better idea of your dolls measurements~

 

 

If you do get a MDD and get her MSD sized clothes, you might be able to fit your DD into them too ;D ( skirts mostly, some tops & dresses work if they are S/M bust )

Along with the information SydiaYuki, Ayuuya, and others have given you on size comaprisons, here's a link to an official Volks SD size comparison page showing relative sizes.

It shows up using a search engine, but since Volks, USA redid their website, it's kind of lost in netland.

Selections for DD clothing is getting better, but even some of the older Volks outfits designated as compatible for DD can have fit problems. The newer stuff fits very well. I've also found some of the Azone brand clothing made for their 60cm line fits nicely. Congratulations, you've discovered a hobby that will help to alleviate back & hip problems caused by carrying a too-heavy wallet!
