crappyshappyshaw Posted January 8, 2015 I have been very careful with my Miku, and I wantted to try putting a somewhat loose wig on her. To stop slippage, I put a silicone wog cap on her, along with the wig. The inside of the cap's lining is not dark at all, so I figured I was safe. Maybe a week later I take off the wig and cap, and there's a weird...stain??? It looks like a very light gray, but it also seems like there was in impression made onto the vinyl from the cap. Trying to get it off with magic eraser, but I don't think it'll work. *nervous chuckle* Anyone have any experiences like this? Any solutions? I figure iif it won't come out, I can just lightly sand it off.

waha Posted January 8, 2015 Never seen a silicone wig cap do that before. Anyway, if I were you I'd just leave it, most likely it'll go back to normal. If not... does it matter? The wig will cover it anyway.

The wig will cover it anyway. Y'think it might just be a compression problem? I'm just worried about it altering the vinyl itself. I hope airing it out for a few days will help. I already have a super wig cap-stained DD and I don't want those results again...
foo Posted January 8, 2015 I'll find out for sure eventually, but I don't think miku's wig stains. The base isn't dyed afaik. Also, silicone wig caps don't prevent staining, the dyes go straight through them They're for preventing the wig from slipping.

I didn't use Miku's wig for this problem, but I can confirm that hers did not stain my doll at all. And I know XD The wig is a slippery 9-10, so I specifically used the silicone wig cap to keep it in place. The color of the cap itself and the band is peach colored, and I know it doesn't stain. I figure this problem must be from the silicone cap itself, somehow. Hmm... *scratches chin*
Rainbowangel Posted June 10, 2015 Yep i've had this happen to me, not with a DD though but a resin BJD. The doll had been wearing a rainbow coloured wig for a while with a silicon wig cap underneath, when I removed the silicon wig cap it had left a faint blue residue mark around the scalp. With my Dollfie Dream, she wears a white cotton wig cap, then a silicon wig cap and then the wig on top. I shall be carefully monitoring her as although silicon wig caps are good at keeping the wig on nicely they aren't very good at preventing colour staining. In fact I suspect that the silicon itself pressing tightly against the dolls head would eventually leave a residue-type mark behind. It doesn't bother me that much though as I never intend for any of my dolls to be bald so it'll never show.

I really rely on silicon wig caps T_T I thought resins were immune to the debacle but I suppose no dolly is safe...! From the random stain occurence! By the looks of this thread it doesn't seem that it's a large problem, though...
Rainbowangel Posted June 27, 2015 Crappyshappyshaw- luckily i've only had it happen the once....so far. I recently inspected some of my other resin dolls (with some hesitation as I was a little nervous as to what I was going to discover ) as I intend to sell some of them. To my surprise they don't have residue marks left behind on their heads Resin dolls can stain quite easily depending on what they're wearing, most marks when dealt with quickly enough will come off relatively easily with a magic eraser. The problem I have with resin is that it yellows in a comparatively short amount of time and often unevenly. So whereas DD's can stain easily due to the texture of the matte vinyl used, resin dolls do have a number of issues as well.

Thankfully I've never had it happen to my resin dolls either (if it would it should've shown itself by now as I had a silicone cap on my boy for quite a few months with no fussing). I wonder if the grade of silicone this cap was made with reacted strangely to the vinyl in my Miku's head?
