Blushing is almost always changing skin color by darkening, whether to add additional skin colors (rosy cheeks, eye shadowing, etc.) or subtle shadowing to emphasize body contour. Blushing works because it is mostly transparent or semi transparent, allowing the base color to show through. Blushing rarely involves adding highlights or lighter than base skin colors. To blush the base skin color lighter might mean adding color in a more opaque manner, to mask the base color. In masking the base color you can lose the transparency affect of blushing and it could produce the "heavy base make-up" look where the skin takes on a very opaque, flat look rather than its normal transparency.

This isn't to say blushing an Obitsu white skin to the lighter Volks white/semi white can't be done. Care will have to be taken to prevent an overly painted look. Your best bet might be to blush the neck and shoulders a bit to match the skin tone of the head.

Also Obitsu has just come out with a 50cm body in what they call "super white", which is lighter than their normal white skin. It is currently only available on the 50cm body. The 50cm scale heads are a bit small in scale for DD2 bodies.
