Valentine Cards 2015

On February 14th, profess your admiration!

There will be two separate Valentines Events for people to participate in!

Please feel free to join in one or both!

EVENT 1: Valentine Secret Admirer Gift Exchange

Here is how it will work:

 

Everyone who signs up will be assigned one partner (please do not make requests, it will be random).

 

When you receive your partner, you will choose among their girls the one your DD girl admires most (yes, just one!) and lavish her with a Valentine gift! (Which must be shipped no later than January 30th)

... but keep it a secret until February 14th, when we reveal here on the forum who our secret Valentine crushes are!

 

Since these are DD girls, you can opt to make them chocolates or sweets from clay or send another Valentine themed item, such as a Teddy Bear, Valentine themed shirt, etc… wherever your talents lie! {Need a bit of inspiration? Take a look at my DD Valentine board on Pinterest } You can also send real chocolates as well… I’m pretty sure most of us DD owners wouldn’t complain

 

I know not all of us are crafty, so please feel free to send a store bought item! You do not have to personally make what you choose to send!

 

To join in the fun, please let me know that you’re interested! PM me with your address (or respond in this thread and I will PM you) no later than January 23rd!

 

So, to make sure everyone is clear…

 

1. All participants MUST send a gift worth at least $5. You are more than welcome to spend more than that… but please send an actual gift.

 

2. All participants must be signed up by Friday, January 23rd to be included in the event! (This is one week before the final ship date of gifts so keep that in mind if you are making something.)

 

3. All gifts must be shipped by Friday, January 30th! (Please note: if you have international partners, Valentines may show up slightly late)

 

 

EVENT 2: Valentine Card Exchange

Here’s how it will work:

 

Each participant must send Valentines Cards to AT LEAST 5 households.

 

This event is for Valentines CARDS ONLY. This is not a gift event!

 

They can be hand made, hand drawn, or store bought. They can be human sized or doll sized (whichever works best for you...) and you can make one card per household, or cards for all of the dolls and/or doll owners at that household. It's up to you!

 

I am including this option because I know that sometimes, especially when shipping Internationally, shipping can get pretty pricey… so this is a way for everyone to be able to participate in a Valentines Event without having to spend too much!

 

To participate, you must contact me, either by PM or in this thread, by January 23rd, letting me know you want to join in Event 2, and how many Valentines you want to send. (Minimum 5, more than 5 (please specify), or all!)

 

All Valentines must be in the mail by January 30th!

 

So, to make sure everyone is clear…

I'm not sure why she hasn't been up to doing these forum events, but I've looked forward to them every year and I think it's a tradition worth keeping. I swear our kids bug me every season about if there is another event to participate in. )

I feel bad about having this on such short notice, I kept waiting because I didn't know if someone else would do it or not (Oni-chan did the Christmas exchange). I've realized that I really look forward to events like this to send fun stuff to our forum friends and I get SUCH a kick out of the ones we get!

 

No worries about handmade cards. Even as a kid I liked the mini sized V-day cards, so we still just buy them every year. I still think they make great small sized posters. I had to buy a second box so Ringo would end up with the extras since the designs suit her tastes. She's super sweet, but I would have surely heard about it if I hadn't got the second set! (So now I have about 50 cards I can send out... )

YAY! What would the max # of cards you would want to send out? I'd give you a guess of what the max might be, but at the moment your guess would be as good as mine. (I still have your address from the Christmas card exchange. )

Does anyone know of a good place to get custom ones made?

I know there is a LOT on Zazzle and their cards are really high quality. I've had a store with them for years I've played with, but unfortunately I only have one dorky valentine. LOL! Through tomorrow they have 15% off all orders + 50% off all cards (if you use the code: 2015CALCARDS) if you happen to find what you are looking for on there.

Last year (easter) I spent a lot to send my gift...and never got mine

 

But having grown older and wiser, I'll use amazon to send the gifts to my recipient, so all the budget would go on the gifts instead of blowing it on shipment

 

So yeah, sign me up for both

I'm so sorry to hear about last Easter! I'm glad that you still want to participate. I remember when Raven and I first joined the forums, we had just missed the cut off point by a few days for one of the card exchanges and I was really disappointed. My family is still trying to get used to our dolls, but It's sure fun to shock them when we get cards from all over the world.

I agree with keeping family posts updated because I know I check them all the time too. Our family post was updated at Christmas, but my sig pic is totally out of date (my file was on the computer when it got fried and I just haven't remade it yet...)

Thanks. I saw your post and thought, hey, its high time for me to do something with the DDs. I'm so glad you posted this exchange.

Sure thing! Other than the reason I stated before, I also did this to kick myself out of the deep funk/depression I fight with every year (January & August seem to be the worst.) A couple of the positive side affects of me hosting the exchange is I have to pay attention to the cut off dates a lot more so I'm actually kicking my procrastination in the rear before it happens. For some of the things I want to do is forcing me to aggressively get some of my work spaces rearranged and organized.

 

I've also been needing to work on some craft projects to just get my hands to work on those sort of things. Its been a lot of fun brainstorming to see what quick projects I can do. I really enjoy being able to surprise someone with themed goodies. Plus it's a nicer way to get my stubborn mind to shift gears back into designing mode to attack Naiomi's Closet related things, and just get some new clothes made for our DD (poor kids haven't had new clothes in about a year! Chronic depression is SO not fun!) Plus all my boys need pants, and Rainie does too so she will give Tama's back...

 

Anyhoo, I've been forgetting to let everyone know that the original post has been updated to reflect what I currently know (if you care.) There is about 6 days left to join the exchanges, the cut-off point being midnight Jan 23 Pacific Standard Time. If you have any questions, just let me know.

For me, I've never been allergic to flowers, but I'm highly allergic to honey & pineapple. It isn't life threatening but I get severe full-body hives that last for days.

I sooorta want to do the gift exchange with Rika. I've got a few ideas, and I've been dying to think of things to sew. But I also don't have much money for international shipping, so I'll have to ship First Class if I'm paired with someone overseas. I'm sorry in advance! It could be a super long wait.

My dd family database thread is old and out of date ^^; I'll try to update it during weekend as it seems the only pictures you can see in the thread are of doll I've sold....

Epicly late, but thanks for the suggestion! Sadly I'll have to bow out of this one since I don't have any Valentine photos prepared to make into cards. But maybe I can plan ahead, what would the next holiday with a card exchange be?
