Yukamina Posted June 30, 2016 The Snow Miku eyes will work great because I think it's the perfect color. As for the head sculpt, it's exactaly like I wanted, so much that I'm even stunned. Despite having Miku i was still unsure if it would work. Having the Volks R&L to compare it to, the heads I have will work and I can have the younger versions I wanted. Len to me will always be a shota, DDS sized or not. Hey, now you get the avoid the fiasco of the Rin Len DD lottery! I bet in the future you could get DDS/B bodies for them and perhaps even Rin and Len outfits from folks who don't want to keep the official outfits. I just had a thought which was the DDS boy body would be perfect for my OC. I might have to do a bit of re-shelling eventually... SisterKyoya Posted June 30, 2016 What I'm really hoping for is the tiny possability that Rin & Len may be preorder at some point and I can just get them that way (less time waiting for the DDS Boy body) but I'm not looking forward to more floating heads. We already have 10+ and it's getting frustrating. I know I could sell them off but doing that with collector stuff is a huge hassle and with my experiace doing that with Kos-Mos' suff left a really bad tase in my mouth because of the BS that happened in the thread. The person who bought it was the best I could have asked for. The only head that has managed to actually leave our house after arriving was the one that was given to my sister. I blame the fact that I have too many ideas. The only thing I'm still consistantly upset about is the keytar... As a child of the 80s it is just unthinkable to me that Len or any of our DD woudn't have one if it exsists! As for my custom Len, he's going to get Ellie's (Yui's) guitar because she made it very clear that she wanted nothing to do with it. She'd rather be in her garden. I even printed out some DD scale blank sheet music that accidentally fit in the pocket of the guitar case. I've been so highly debating wih myself about the outfit issue. I could just see about getting them if the preorder never happens but IMHO Rin's outfit is the wrong color even though it would save me a lot of time and fuss. But there are various elements about their outfits that are used on other outfits so why not just design them all mysel and add the few little changes that I would want to make. It's already going to take me some time to make the wigs, Len's is non-optional because the Volks ver. is just wrong. Technically speaking I could start on Rin's clothes now if her body is just the already available SS bust on a DDS body because that's what Sohi has after Miku upgraded to an S bust. But I really want to work on both gender outfits at the same time so there is consistancy between them. Sometimes I forget how I did something, adding to the overall difficulty of the project. So pretty much it comes down to less work but SO much more stress and panic at a higher cost vs. much, much more work at a drastically reduced cost, but with an undetermined finish point. I'm still debating on what one is perferable. The one thing I know is because of my OCD that if I get one outfit set from Volks I'd have to get the other. Thus is the frustration of having a second set of twins. At least Rainie and Ringo are vastly different in that department. I do have to say that the funniest Snow Miku pic I've seen so far was someone put their regular Miku in the freezer and she turned into Snow Miku. And not to derail this thread completely, Miku is having way too much fun. Miku: "Test subjects aquired. Now where should we begin? Muhahahaha!" Monty Posted July 1, 2016 I'm glad you're happy with the snow mikus potential, Sister Kyoya. Personally I'm pretty interested to see your take on Rin/Len. After all, it's not like Volks' official version is the only acceptable version, especially when it comes to characters like Rin and Len who are usually entirely up to individual interpretation anyway. Good luck with Lens hair lol. I don't even know how to manage that - even Volks changed it. (Personally I always thought the 'banana' on his bangs that sticks up looked ridiculous and I'm kinda glad Volks took it off, even if just because it was too difficult, but if you do manage to pull that off it'll be impressive :p) *twitter*instagram*art*
SisterKyoya Posted July 1, 2016 As much as I keep complaigning to myself, taking up the chalenge to do this is a good thing. I'm just most annoyed over the fact that I can't work on Len's clothes until I have a body for him. I was thinking of having them be 45cm Obitsu but after looking at them in Project Diva they really are not that short. Because of my math skills (and the dyslexia scrambling numbers in my head) I can't accurately make clothing for bodies I don't have. And there's the fact that we don't even know the measurements for Len's body so trying to determine the width of his chest would be a complete stab in the dark. Not to mention that a single measurement says nothing about where the side seams would fall. Something as simple as that can alter how clothes fit. Doing it wrong just looks weird. As for Len's hair, I've been thinking about that for a long time. Doing Bree's new wig was a bit of a test for that but Len still has his distinct challenges. This is how I level up my skillz. I just wish t didn't take such massively complicated, daunting, and flat out terrifying projects to do it. Even just two years ago I would have said I couldn't do it. Now the only doubts I have are about the shoes and the keytar. Len has to end up with a keytar and I really, really don't want to end up making it. Even as I was typing that sentance my brain blurted out: "Well if you cast the keyboard keys in resin then it wouldn't be hard to do make them uniform..." I seriously am my own worst enemy. Especially if I did make it I might also be able to make the keys move... And this is why I can't buy nice things. My brain always has to butt in. "Why buy it when you can just make it!" I really do envy the people who don't have to deal with a mind like mine and can just buy the stuff they like. Trouble is most of my DD want things that no one else has.
