Volks Dollfie dream project: Snow Miku 2015!

I havent gotten a email...and i cannot find my initial preorder email....so i emailed them about it.

 

My email arrived 6/6/16 at 12:11 am PDT from system@volks.co.jp if that helps.

 

If by any chance you happen to be on Exchange or Office 365 there should be a "recover deleted items" option on your Outlook 'tools' menu, and it should also be there in OWA. Usually that lets you recover stuff deleted up to 14 days ago.

Speaking on the Fluffy coat does anyone know when that is suposed to ship?

 

If you mean from Volks Japan? Not sure. Volks USA states approximately August shipping.

I emailed the two emails on their site, and was directed that the response would come from the first email but i havent gotten an answer. I am using gmail and i did the trick to get all my emails to show but it wont work and I cannot find anything pertaining to the preorder.

 

I did find a paypal transaction ....and now in looking at it says the payment was to Volks usa...so its my error, my girl wont be in till september, which is fine i was planning on her then anyways. Ill just make a note to myself.

The exchange rate is horrible so it looks like its costing me $1030 Aud =___=

 

and to make it worse, when i paid for normal miku i had a fullset miku + the senbonzakura outfit and it cost me the same *~*

Goodsmile charged me $682.87 usd this morning. So about 105.73 yen to dollar & $87 more then the rate earlier this year. Oh well maybe a little more then the cost of buying from VolksUSA, but I get it a few months earlier.

I paid for my Miku a week ago to Volks Japan. When I ordered, the price (with conversion) was much better buying from the Japan site than buying from VolksUSA. Boy, did that change. Ouch!

 

But I'm glad she's paid for, and I can't wait for her to be shipped

i paid mi Snow Miku by credit card on volks website O-O , the other day only show me the paypal option and today tadaaaaa , apeared the credit card option too .

 

guessing everyone is complaining. I have a feeling they tried to drop card support because they didn't want to pay the visa/mc processing fees. Doesn't help me any or anyone else who's already been forced to pay by paypal.

 

At least you saved like 2700 yen. lol

It seemed like it was temproary, IIRC their FAQ still said credit card was an option but it had strikethrough

NICOS was their old credit card processor, maybe the relationship expired or something.

I preordered from Good Smile Company & their price had Volk's fees rolled in so 70,200 yen for the doll & a flat 2,000 yen for shipping.

Did you also get a payment mail? I was thinking about ordering with goodsmile because of their flatrate, but I thought the mikus would be later available.

 

I haven't seen an email yet, but checked the online order status & it says "Pending(Credit Card)" though I see no pending charge yet. From my last order over a year ago they just charged the card on file & shipped five days after the payment.

 

That was the main reason I ordered from Goodsmile in the first place. I do a good bit of ordering from them anyway so I know what I'm getting with them. (Not only that, I feel like I'm getting over on them for a change with their flat rate EMS shipping. It stings a bit when you're ordering a nendoroid or figma and end up paying the same amount and I've done that plenty.) Getting the email saying she's shipping on the 27th though really made me happy. Playing tag all weekend because of issues on their end? Not so much. She's paid for though!

The credit card option is temporary. I sent an email to Volks about it and was given the following response:

 

The credit card payment function is a temporary measure.

Credit card payment by the end of June will be unavailable.

I got a shipping notice for Miku this morning! Did anyone else get theirs too? Finally.... Finally she's coming home T_T

Okay, so I'm sorry for the double post. Not to be outdone by the Kagamine twins, my Snow Miku has touched down here at home and is settling in! Now if only her clothes would arrive...

Mine arrived a few hours ago. Was too busy with work to unbox her till just now.

 

I have to admit if I had known that I was going to get a Hatsune Miku from the recent Japan Lottery I probably wouldn't have ordered Snow Miku, but now that she is here she is pretty spectacular. I was expecting the blue in her faceup to be lighter and more like the color of her hair, but its a dark rich blue and looks pretty awesome.

 

Her wig wasn't properly attached to the cardboard and came out a tangled mess from floating around during shipment. It combed out nicely, but when I ran the comb through it a huge tuft of 10 - 15 stands came out. I'm used to finding a few loose strands, but seeing this many was a bit freaky. I'm thinking it's just a group that wasn't properly rooted into the head cap since the rest of the wig seems fine.

 

Her wig is very tight on her head. Hatsune's normal wig fit more easily than this one. I had to pull her head off and gently work it into the wig cap. The wig cap isn't white but it's a much lighter tan than what I have seen before from Volks.

 

Her clothing is all lined with white except for the shirt, but the shirt is a much lighter color than Hatsune's so I am hoping she won't stain.

 

I'll follow up with photo's later.

Got the confirmation early this morning, Good Smile Company shipped her out! Can't wait to get her, Kos-mos will have a little sister!

all in all she is SUPER cute - much better faceup paint (I think) than the original Miku. I'm very very happy with her!!

My miku arrived today.

 

Lets just say im not happy....

 

Her inner upper skeleton feels wrong, its almost like the spring isnt sitting right and the piece doesnt seem straight. Theres also a small chip around the ball base of the neck peg.

 

Her head also wont stay tilted to her right, it actually springs back.

 

Her lower inner torso peg also has a very noticable gap of the pieces.

 

Her left arm also pulls out of the elbow very easily.

 

I got her just as i was leaving for work so i snapped a few pics and video of these issues ill link/upload later

So, I opened the Miku I ordered to check her out and take pictures for my sales thread.

 

And, to use a tumblr phrase, my brain went "O no, she's cute..." and I had to dress her up.

Mine definitely isn't having any neck or torso issues. You might try contacting Volks and sending them photo's of the chip, and any other physical defects with the internal skeleton, along with a description of the problem. Since there is obvious physical damage to the neck ball that may explain why the neck joint doesn't work correctly. It may have internal damage that you can't see.

 

Separation in the torso peg may indicate more damage or a manufacturing defect.

Well looks like my Mikus will be arriving today. (My Mikus... wow, that just sounds so wrong! LOL!) Lorelai and Darla will finally be finished after I scrub off Miku's nail polish. Somehow all of this time I didn't think about that, at least not in many months. And then Raven's Miku will have a new outfit set. For a long time I was annoyed trying to think about what to do with the extra clothes and wig, but as it turns out we will keep one perfect for photos & the other that she can wear on a regular basis. That way Raven can have a set that he doesn't have to worry about. Plus one of the wigs is going to get cut short... The uber long hair is really pretty but only pratical if she sits on a shelf and not moved arround. That doesn't happen in our house.

 

Now comes the issue of the heads. Knowing that the official Rin & Len are lottery in it's own way stings. Plus Raven keeps saying that the Snow Miku started as lottery then went into preorders, only confusing me even more. I know in part he's saying that to keep me from being disappointed because doing customs is a lot of work and I had really been looking forward to the official ones. However, seeing Len's official sculpt I'm becoming more and more relieved that I have the Snow Miku heads to use instead because it is much closer to the type of shota Len I see.

 

The thing I'm really unsure about is if he Kagamines ever end up as a preorder, I might get them anyway and sell of or repurpose the heads, swapping them out for my custom ones. Since many of the people in this thread at least seem to be Vocaloid/Miku fans, I'm just curious if you might find it interesting to see a custom Rin & Len even with Volks having officcial ones? Len might need to be a SS bust until or if Volks releases his body as standard. Either way I'd still be making patterns. This might give me a good chance to dobleepent the process of doing a custom DD since I even need to make wigs for the twins from the yarn I bought last year for that purpose. Volks' Len's hair just seems flat to me compared to the more anime style hair I'm used to him having. As for Rin, I hope I can make her just as adorable as the Volks' version.

Part of me was dreading today, after so long and SO many emotional rollercoasters I was expecting more frustration and all that. Much to my surprise it has turned out vastly different. Having a chance to compare the Snow Miku head and eyes against the pics of Volk's Rin & Len, at least one part of this whole thing is settled.

 

 

THIS is what I think of when I think about Rin & Len. So very, very different than the Volks version. Lines around the eyes are less detailed, eyebrows are vastly different in color as well as shape and placement. The Snow Miku eyes will work great because I think it's the perfect color. As for the head sculpt, it's exactaly like I wanted, so much that I'm even stunned. Despite having Miku i was still unsure if it would work. Having the Volks R&L to compare it to, the heads I have will work and I can have the younger versions I wanted. Len to me will always be a shota, DDS sized or not.

 

The only part left that I'm unsure about is what to do about bodies. Do I wait and hoope that the DDS boy will be released at some undetermined time, do I make him a hybrid like Lucas? (I have another of his bust but it's more buff then Len should be.) The other option would be to put them on Obitsu bodies, but I really don't want to do that. Just the difference in joints would make them look really strange next to Miku.

 

I do feel a bit bad for Raven. I was opening the boxes to get to the bodies and to look at the heads, having all the rest of her stuff almost being an afterthought. I could see the look on his face like "What are you doing?? You are skipping over all the good stuff!" No worries though. He's got tomorrow off and plans to put his Miku into her new outfit, if she likes it or not.

 

It seems a little surreal that #18 and #19 DD are nearly finished. Lorelai just needs her wig finished and nails painted black and Darla needs clothes.

 

Miku is already calling the floating Snow Miku heads "Experiment 1" and "Experiment 2" Poor Rin & Len. I really expected her to be so much more smug aboout this. It's entirely her fault that I even concidered doing this crazy (and intimidating) project.

Got my Miku today.. and I'm beyond happy with her. And I just realised with Alice and Melty Christmas Version I only got Winter-themed Girls. So I have quite a few scarfs and gloves.
