Volks Dollfie dream project: Snow Miku 2015!

Right now all I want to say is "DAMN YOU MIKU!"

 

I was minding my own business just trying to get a photo story done, and you decided to be cheeky. I didn't want to but I laughed. Using your geekyness to worm your way into my heart after I only let you into our house because my husband adores you. That is one nasty and unfair trick. Even worse still was I had to take pictures of you being cute, helpful, and generally speaking what was on my mind. I didn't want to be surprised at how you reminded me of Saber Extra in some of those photos. I hated her in the beginning too.

 

You just couldn't leave me alone, could you? A sneaky little enabler already dangled a very tempting offer in front of me yesterday that I'd be hard pressed to refuse. So what do you do? You took advantage of me being off of my equilibrium and your head popped up in the middle of my sanctuary dressed as a boy. A freakishly adorable boy who nearly looked like a normal boy. As if I haven't spent enough time thinking about what Saber Extra would look like as a boy, you had to sucker punch me. In a daze I heard a comment from Raven drift through my mind from sometime back, of how he would love to have the Snow Miku outfit. Yeah, maybe once upon a blue moon. A state of delirium set in as I went to the Volks site to see when the preorders stopped, thinking I could swiftly put an end to this insanity. Little did I know you were covering your mouth with a white mitten to muffle your evil chuckle. Casually I scrolled down the page, thinking that there was no way the preorders were still open. I stopped breathing for a moment as the realization sunk in. No! It couldn't be...

 

An idea that has been simmering in the back of my mind suddenly bloomed in vibrant glory. Still trying to convince myself that I should just close the page and walk away, my curiosity got the better of me. I knew there were some pictures for the boy I was thinking of that I wanted to peek at for just a moment, desperately looking for a way out of this craziness. Then came the final blow.

 

The boy has blue eyes.

And blond hair.

And has been requested many times by my darling little Prince Tamayuki. His biggest idol.

 

Do you really think that DD come alone? Really? Then I only have one thing to say:

Sure, I know I already have a custom Kiyoteru being worked on. But I'm seriously having a feeling of dread that Miku will not be satisfied without all of her Krypton friends. You can't have just one. And if you are anyone who knows anything about Len, you know he's half of a whole. I don't dare split up twins or Rainie will never let me hear the end of it. How do you think we ended up with Ringo? That girl can nag until your ears bleed when she has a mind to.

 

I should have known that there would be unforeseen consequences for making our Miku a geek. Evil little mastermind. I can't believe that purely without Raven's influence I nearly pulled the trigger on a Miku preorder. What does he have to say about all this? I was talking to him on the phone over his lunch break but I'm pretty sure he's giddy about it. Frankly if I hadn't remembered on my own about Rin Kagamine as I talked with him, he would have quickly fixed the omission. I'm waiting for his final say once he gets home, but I'm pretty sure its already been decided.

 

Me preordering two Mikus? What is this world coming to??

 

(If anyone cares, we won't need two outfits so the 2nd one will be sold.)

Raven and I met as high school freshmen. The first year I knew him I was horrible to him, avoiding him like the plague. Last July we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary (and Dec. 2 was our 20th year being together.) You'd think I like the taste of my foot for how often it ends up in my mouth.

I think she does, as far as DD adaptations go... When I see figures and game art of Miku now, I often think, they look like DD Miku, so she must have some resemblance ^^;

 

DDs have their own style, though, they often look more like each other than the illustrations they are based on.

It's the same all over. I absolutely fell in love with Saber Lily, something about her sculpt and her makeup, but my other half thinks she looks nothing like Saber at all. *shrugs* Everyone has opinions on what catches their eye.

It really just depends on what version you are used to as well. I was looking up some of the Project Diva videos yesterday and realized that to me the DD Miku looks a lot like that version. I know someone on the forums made a custom Miku from an 06 head that is really cute.

 

Volk's pictures usually don't do so great of a job capturing their product very well. When my husband first started talking about getting the original Miku DD, one of the reasons I was having trouble with it was because she looked really mad to me. I think its fun seeing pics of other's grouchy girls, but I wouldn't do well with having one of our own. I just posted a (very long) thread in the photo stories where Miku kinda took over. So if you want to get a better idea of the sculpt there is nearly 45 pictures... (clicking on the images opens them in Flickr where you can see the full size image where the original size is 4272px x 2848px)

 

I'm not saying you have to like the sculpt, I just wanted to point out that there are options if you are looking for them.

DD miku is somewhere between mmd koron miku, project diva and the original kei design. They all have very almondy eyes. The thing is... she's got green eyes and green twintails with any bits of idollike costume, it's miku for all intents and purposes. Crypton didn't force any regulations on what miku should look like exactly or what she should wear.

 

I have preordered snow miku!

I'm not sure how I'm going to survive the wait, much less my miku obsessed son, who has pretty much already claimed her. He now asks every time a package is delivered, "Is it miku??????!!!!" He's young and doesn't understand why it would take a year and a half for her to get here...

 

I just bought my first DD Aoi last month, about 5 weeks ago, and today I pre-ordered Snow Miku.

It is good that Snow Miku won't arrive until summer 2016, otherwise my Aoi will be very unhappy.

Hey this is weird: so I paid the $50 down for Miku on the first day of the pre-order, and was given an order number that appeared in my order history on the Volks US site. But now there is no record of the order in my order history. Anyone else have this happen? I'm not particularly panicked, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned.

I did the same thing yesterday- I just wanted to check, and my order didn't show up, either. I received an invoice and order number as well when I chose the downpayment option. (Granted, I'm still a total newbie when it comes to Volks USA and DDs in general so this may very well be normal.)

I think this is normal for their systems - on the normal Miku release thread people mentioned their preorders for other bits (miku's wig, bodysuit, etc) and they didn't show up in their order history either. So long as you have the email receipt you should be okay

Okay, rad! Thanks for reassuring me. I'm totally pumped now.

I have yet to get my DD on layaway and I am eyeing Snow Miku, she's very very cute and I love the color scheme much more than I did on the first Miku release. I still have time to think about it. Not to sound like an idiot but why does it take so long to make them? We're talking like a year and a half almost.

You have to wait months longer due to frieght shipping

You have to put money up front

You have to end up paying more for the doll

Then you got to pay for UPS shipping.

 

Where as Volks Intl:

It's a win win win... /sarcasm lol

I was also wondering where it was more practical to order from. I guess you have included in the price for the VOLKS USA preorder: Shipping from Japan to them plus handling fees. So yeah... why not just cut the middleman, I'm going to end up having to pay custom for her anyways, I live in Canada, might as well try and save a buck or two. It's the same preorder so yeah might as well go directly to the source.

She looks so cute there! I'm very excited to get her now, she really looks adorable and her nails are such a lovely colour.
