Morilec Posted January 24, 2015 Hi guys, I wanted to ask a question, what are the differences between a DD and a Smart Doll ??? Which is better ?? If I should take a DD would take "Snow Miku", although the "old version" is more beautiful, because coming out of quite a bit and I would raise more money for her and any accessories. If I take an SD undoubtedly would take "Mirai Suenaga," but I have not figured out how to buy the accessories, their price, etc. Sorry for my English, thanks for the replies. Gunter Posted January 24, 2015 Well, first off they are made by two very different companies (obviously). I'm going to only skim things so you can get the gist of it. But there are quite a few similarities. Basic things they have in common is the option to customize them--you can remove the wig and eyes and change the face-up (Make-up on the face) to whatever your liking. They are both have good posing. They also both use an inner skeleton. We have an entire section dedicated to Smart Dolls as technically they are a off-topic doll here. ^^ Volks Dollfie Dreams are still the centralized focus of this forum. But I do recommend you check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=10585 Also the ordering method of Mirai is pretty straightforward from my understanding (I'm waiting on a certain girl as Mirai is far from my favorite but I'm still pretty sure I understand the ordering process). You'd go to this site: http://www.dannychoo.com/en/post/27232/Get+Smart+Doll.html And all you do is choose the doll you are interested in and fill out the form. As the site says they'll email you with a password to enter the private store so you can purchase when they have a doll ready for you. This means you could be waiting a while, but you'd definitely get a doll. Snow Miku is a great starting point because unlike the general ordering method for DD you are GUARANTEED a doll. Pre-ordering is still the minority when it comes to Volks. If you wanted to, because the first ver. of Miku was a pre-order as well you could also simply wait it out and save up the extra for her. We have a section called the "Looking for" section which you can post in and request Miku! I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out on finding a great deal, or maybe selling one to you personally. The downside of going with Volks is unlike with the Smart Doll you could be waiting till next year to get her (As in Snow Miku) while I don't believe the wait for Mirai will be anywhere near that long (Only takes 2~4 weeks once the order was placed!). So I guess it matters on if you are rushing to get into the hobby. The differences come with the look you want as well. Which girl do you like more appearance wise? I won't tell you which one is better because that's for you to decide. They both work, and they both look great, it is just a matter of what you want to prioritize, and who you think you'd enjoy to have around more. Sorry for the lengthy post! Morilec Posted January 25, 2015 Thanks a lot for all the information. After what you told me, I'm thinking of doing the pre-order of Snow Miku, since before half 2015 I will not have. Meanwhile I could buy Mirai, if I can economically. Since I like both very much. And if I can not buy Mirai, the better, so in between Danny Choo opens its factory of soft vinyl, so it would also benefit, perhaps... As for the first version of Miku, for now I have seen on Ebay that has exorbitant prices, I think that after taking Snow Miku, I might search the hair, eyes and clothing of the first version and use on the body of Snow Miku. Unless I find a complete doll at an affordable price. But for now I do not care.
iPOUT Posted January 26, 2015 I know how you feel, I'm kinda in the same boat (also considering snow miku as their first dollfie dream). I wish you good luck on your choice and also wanna say that there's other websites that sell the original miku. There's Mandarake (Which has the miku set in splits) and Yahoo Auction Japan (but you'd need a proxy). The only issue is that I think there's just or close to as expensive . Anyway though. Good luck
