Areiniah Posted January 27, 2015 Hello! I have just ordered my first doll, a 27cm soft bust (one-piece abdomen) M size chest Obitsu, with the magnets. I ordered just the body, the new painted Kay head (HD-PB-KAY-AW), a wig and eyes. I am looking for resources on where to buy clothes and sewing patterns, I am happy to make clothes myself but will need a bit of guidance from tutorials etc. My personal preference in clothing for dolls is 'realistic', i.e clothes that make them look like mini humans, not really 'doll' like clothes. So far the only places I have found that sell clothes specifically for 27cm Obitsus are Parabox, Junkyspot (their shipping is MUCH too expensive for me, as I live in Australia. It STARTS at $32 USD!) Mimiwoo (they mark up all their items to compensate for their free shipping, and for my location it means that although Parabox charges shipping, they come out much cheaper still than Mimiwoo - hence I ordered my first doll through Parabox) and Clear-Lan (lovely 'realistic' clothes). Out of these Clear-Lan is honestly the only place I found nice clothes, as I'm not interested in the Parabox or Obitsu made clothing. Does anyone know other stores that sell clothes for 27cm Obitsu? I don't really want to purchase an item that is made for another doll or just "1/6" size (as 1/6 scale dolls come in many dimensions!) that may or may not actually fit upon arrival. Or, again, any pattern resources would be greatly appreciated! Or other dolls whose clothes are a known fit for 27cm M bust Obitsu that I could search for with better luck? I am new and so I'm not yet sure of the 'go-to' places Also, what does everyone do for shoes for 27cm Obitsu? I really noticed that shoes (and clothing, too) are generally more detailed/pretty for the larger dolls, as it's much easier to make things in a larger scale. Their feet are tiny, just 2.2cm, and most of the shoes I saw through eBay etc aimed at 27cm dolls and simmilar (Pullip etc) were 4cm+ in length, so I don't think they would work for 27cm Obitsu. I'm not that keen on the Obitsu made shoes, since they lack variety and are essentially rubber and not like 'real' shoes. In terms of wigs, the head I bought needs a 4.5" size, which I have also found difficult to find. If a store gives an option of a 3-4" or a 4-5", I'm assuming it is best to go for the 4-5" size category? What can be done about wigs that are a little too big? I have never looked at a dolls wig before (though I own many human wigs for cosplay) so I am unsure as to how forgiving the sizes are, or how much stretch they have etc. I hope this hasn't been too confusing! I will most likely have more questions in the future ^^"
jadepixel Posted January 28, 2015 Howdy! I don't have an obitsu this size, but I believe it's very similar to Blythe and Pullip bodies, so you may have many options for clothes/shoes! Check hand-made goods shops like Etsy for some nice choices. As for wigs, in that size I found Dollce has great quality. It's pricey but the styling and materials are top notch. http://doll.shop-pro.jp/ Here's a dollce wig on my obitsu girl (with azone pure neemo body) You also have the option of Monique wigs, but personally I don't like their wig fiber much and they aren't really a lot cheaper. http://www.monique.com/ jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
Areiniah Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks so much for your reply! I didn't know about that wig store so I will check it out! The best one I had found for wigs so far is DOLLWIG on etsy, her wigs are handmade and with heat resistant fibers, so I'm assuming they are good quality haha. I haven't found any web reviews of her products though, but her Etsy feedback is extremely positive. They seem to be the same price as the wig store you linked me. Does Dollce ship internationally? I'm just not sure because the site is all in Japanese :/ Your doll is adorable! The wig definitely looks great and suits her really well
K-2 Posted February 2, 2015 Does Dollce ship internationally? I'm just not sure because the site is all in Japanese :/ I don't think they ship internationally, however I've ordered from them using a proxy. http://www.jauce.com/
Yaisha Posted February 7, 2015 I have several 27cm obitsu of different busts and boxes of clothes so maybe I can help with this... Edit: I guess I'm not allowed to post links on the forum? I tried to type them out so I could still help you. I don't know of any other companies that make clothes specifically for the 27cm obitsu but you will find that there are literally tons of clothes that fit. Most people who are really active with Pullip collecting (including myself) switch all their bodies to obitsu because the size is very similar but the posing is 1000x greater. The only issue you will find with clothes made by or for Pullip are the sleeves. The arms on Pullip are a bit skinnier than obitsu so if the sleeves are super tight on Pullip you might not be able to cram obitsu arms in there, although obitsus come apart so easy that this is rarely a problem. I only own one Pullip shirt that I haven't been able to get on my obitsu bodies. Pullip - You can get stock outfits on eBay and Pullip collector forums like Dolly Market. Sometimes I buy dolls for the clothes and sell the doll, lol. Also some people on Etsy make Pullip clothes J-Doll - I really recommend these! You said you want realistic human type clothes, these are super nice and detailed but much better proportioned because unlike Pullip they have a small head. J-Doll actually uses the exact same body as Pullip so the fit is the same. I buy a lot of J-Doll for the clothes, sometimes you can get them super cheap (like $30 if you stalk eBay) or buy them on forums. You will also be able to use their wigs! They are glued on, not rooted. So you just pull them off carefully or use an exacto on the glue if it's really stubborn. Momoko - These are a really good fit. There are some REALLY nice handmade Momoko clothes on etsy. They are very detailed and realistic but pretty expensive. I recommend this shop, look for the stuff made for Momoko, like I said, expensive but soooo nice! etsy(dot)com(slash)shop(slash)jiajiadoll Barbie - This is probably the next closest fit. They are similar in height but the M bust will swim in Barbie's bust. There are lots of really nice high end Barbie clothes for collectors and tons of people and companies make Barbie clothes. Blythe - Ok so, Blythe is actually a lot shorter. Her arms and legs are both shorter so a long dress will be a short dress on Obitsu and long Blythe sleeves will be like 3 quarter sleeves. Some Blythe stuff looks great on Obitsu and there is a ton of handmade stuff to pick from but it takes awhile and some practice before you can look at a Blythe outfit and picture it on a 27cm and know if it's going to fit. I actually collect Blythe too and my girls can swap some clothes. The Blythe torso is kind of like an 80's Barbie, with a pointy chest and wide shoulders so at least you don't really need to worry about anything being too tight on the Obitsu because, if anything, it will be a little baggy in the chest. Also, Blythe has a high waist. Azone - They make some really cute clothes, mostly in the Pure Neemo size which is pretty close to Blythe so it's going to have all the same fit issues that I described above. Mostly pants/sleeves/tops being too short. 27cm Resin Fashion Dolls - Unfortunately, I can't remember any off the top of my head but some bjd companies make 27cm dolls that are proportioned to fashion dolls rather than the usual Yosd style. These dolls are off-topic at the Den of Angels forum even though they meet the requirements, just because they consider 'fashion dolls' to be a lesser breed. Anyway, some companies sell separate fashions for them and they should fit the Obitsu quite well. I'll post again if I can remember any... I know I've seen some high quality stuff... There are also some western resin fashion dolls like Jamie Show but their clothes do not fit. The best hard and fast rule is to see if they say it can share with Barbie, if it can't then it's going to be way too big. Other - Fashion Royalty (matches Barbie Silkstone), Poppy Parker, Dynamite Girls, etc. --Where to get patterns -- Google around and see if anyone has free scans from the magazine "Dolly Dolly" it carries patterns for Blythe/Pullip/Momoko/Odeco&Nikki/etc. They are in Japanese but should be pretty easy to follow. If you can't find any, people sell the scans on etsy for download for a couple of dollars. This shop has some good ones including a book of just Momoko etsy(dot)com(slash)shop(slash)Dollyebook?ref=l2-shop-info-name Also you can buy the actually books from Japanese bookstores and on eBay. I have a few, they are super nice but you're going to be paying at least $30 a book. --Shoes-- Shoes can be pretty annoying. I'm sure you've noticed how tiny the foot is... lol, the problem is that it's so short and stubby. Those ones you already saw are the only shoes specifically made for Obitsu (to my knowledge). Pullip feet are hard plastic like Obitsu but they are more narrow and have a slight high heel shape to them but are jointed so they can also fall flat. Blythe feet are a lot like Barbie feet, rubbery and have a perma high heel shape. You can feet most of these doll's shoes on the Obitsu foot but it's better to stick with stuff that isn't open toed, since the feet are so short, the toes are going to be far back in the shoe. Honestly, I think the best looking stuff are shoes made out of fabric material, there are great ones made for Blythe on etsy stuff like this: etsy(dot)com(slash)shop(slash)QMagicDoll?section_id=13466810&ref=shopsection_leftnav_3 And fabric shoes made for Barbie on eBay look pretty amazing. In this photo of one of my pullips, she is on a 27cm L bust Obitsu and wearing boots made for Pullip. These kind of fabric shoes that fully cover the feet are best because they hide the stubby foot and they also look really realistic. flickr(dot)com(slash)photos(slash)yaisha(slash)3427166721 Obitsu can handle the heels fine because the foot tilts. Overall, I understand if you have no interest in Pullips but since this is where most of the Obitsu bodies are going it really helps to look around on Flickr and see what they are wearing and you can ask most people where they got the clothes and they will usually help. A lot less people actually collect the 27cm Obitsu with the smaller heads so there is less demand for clothing for them specifically. They are super fun to customize though and once you get a better idea or what works and what doesn't work with the sizes I think you will have a lot of fun. I know it's tough at first, I never knew what fit and I was stuck just buying ugly cheap Barbie clothes at the store. Also, joining forums like Dolly Market helps since you can buy individual pieces from people doing closet cleanouts and they will already know if it fits Obitsu. (although I haven't been there in forever, I don't know if it's still active or if people moved somewhere else) Sorry this was so long!! I hope it helped a little. Areiniah Posted February 8, 2015 Gosh, thank you sooo much for all the information!! I really appreciate you taking the time to help a newbie like myself! All the info you gave is really fantastic and helpful, I can't thank you enough! I am happy to take advice from anyone and regarding any dolls, I'm not biased in any way (especially as I am new to the hobby) and I think all dolls are beautiful in their own respects, so I don't mind at all the information relating to Pullip/Blythe/other brands etc. (Actually, I have recently been curious about putting Little Pullip heads on Obitsu 27cm bodies, I saw a few and I think it gives a nice option for different heads for Obitsu 27 that are still in proportion) My reply isn't long at all in comparison to the time you spent to write yours, but all I can really say is the biggest THANK YOU! I wouldn't have known such helpful things otherwise (e.g which other doll's clothes fit Obitsu)! The links you gave are super fantastic too, thanks again so much!! Yaisha Posted February 8, 2015 It's no problem, I'm happy to help! I was pretty confused when I first started and ended up buying things that I didn't need. Little Pullip heads on the Obitsu are super cute. Actually they look kind of awkward on the 27cm because of the neck though. I put one on a 25 and it looks perfect! Also, the little Dal head looks sweet on the 11cm.

Marilyn Posted July 7, 2016 hi there, so there are different chests for 27cm dolls? do you know if they will fit EB beauty??? This photo on flickr shows the 27cm Obitsu and EB Beauty side by side (dolls #9 & #10): Looking at the photo, I would say that the chests are not interchangeable. Cauldroness Posted July 7, 2016 Lol, no, they are definitely NOT interchangeable whatsoever! Have owned both, they're totally different. Honestly the idea of finding another chest to pop on an EB Beauty is a bit ridiculous, none of the 27cm bodies are really designed to have interchangeable parts (other than hands/feet/heads), just buy a new body with the bust size you really want... No matter how many times you ask about 27cm busts on this forum, it's going to be the same response. Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram! Ararothea Posted August 6, 2016 I have a 25cm Obitsu with a full soft torso. I tried putting clothes from a Dal and a Pullip on her, and it wasn't a very good fit, too small. She seems to have more realistic proportions when compared to Pullip. So, I'd personally be careful if ordering clothes for Pullip with the intention of putting them on your Obitsu. chanela Posted December 25, 2016 Would barbie clothes fit a large soft bust 27cm Obitsu? Do they stain like dollfies or are they just plastic? Where do I buy them?
hikikohooni Posted December 25, 2016 Barbie clothes fit closest, for me. I'm using just them, and they fit nicely, not too snug (I have a soft vinyl M bust girl) It just depends on the clothes. They do have a chance of staining, but so far... it hasn't happened to me. Here's the Parabox website in English: http://parabox.jp/eng_new/ You can get her in hard plastic, which isn't as pretty as the soft vinyl body. Hard plastic has almost 0% chance of stains. I personally like the soft vinyl body, it looks very pretty and realistic. The nipples aren't very hard, and the bust is somewhat squishy. They still retain their shape even when stuffed into a shirt. Also, look at Yaisha's post, you'll find it's information packed!
Steffipuschel Posted December 25, 2016 Actually there sre 3 different obitsus. Hard bust, sb and sbh all with different bust sizes. I think sbh are the prettiest. The 25 is a bit newer and a little bit more poseable alltough the 27 sbh is already a posing genius The best would be what would fit best into the character or your taste. For sbh s bust lot of pullip clothes fits. M and l bust can fit barbie clothes. Shoes probably not. I bought a huge cheap barbie lot on ebay and about 40% fit. The shoes from mimiwoo for pullip fit great. Love then ^^ To germany the cheapest shipping is from hlj.com Maybe this helps Before i forgot. They are releasing a new 24cm body which looks so cute and more realistic. Check the discussion here viewtopic.php?f=39&t=13947
