pichu10176 Posted February 1, 2015 Lol we posted at the same time, i just deleted my post. Anyways has anyone from the forum been to a Dolpa hosted by Volks USA? Please tell us about your experience? Do they invite vendors? Have they offered DD (I only heard about SD so far)?
Cauldroness Posted February 1, 2015 The old Dolpa NY website is still up: http://site.volksusa.com/html/2010/dolls_party_ny_4/ From last time: Famous Japanese SD outfit dealers will send their special items with us to New York... All the dealer outfits have unique and original designs and are often one-of-kind outfits. So it looks like they did have items on behalf of other vendors, even if those vendors themselves are not there. Here's the list of NY's vendors: http://site.volksusa.com/html/2010/dolls_party_ny_4/tenshi_no_sumika/ Mama House, velvet*paw, tukika, Chuuko's, Plastic Honey, Kogitune Club, Shounen DEVIL, Roco*Berry, Sagazakiya, Pure Drop, Village*Pine, Alice World, and narunaru. Also, an important rule they had at NY: So, we are sorry to say that other company's dolls are not accepted for participation at the Dolpa. We're look forward to seeing not only your Super Dollfies, but your Dollfies and Dollfie Dreams too! ETA: It looks like all the NY dolls were resin, no Dollfie Dreams. Cauldroness Posted February 1, 2015 Posting again, but I found the website for the previous LA Dolpa: http://site.volksusa.com/html/2007/dolls_party_la_2007/index.html This also had a "Dolpa Market." All of the Volks dolls were resins, but they had a healthy list of vendors: http://site.volksusa.com/html/2007/dolls_party_la_2007/market/vendor_list.html Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram! Gunter Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) ....I know what I'm doin' for my Bday. :> I've had to miss out on every Dolpa within the USA because either I couldn't make it due to my age (I was still a minor during the first LA Dolpa), and then later because my friend's' plans would fall through and I couldn't secure a hotel on my own. This time though, I will go disregarding if I have to book alone. I can drive down there after all. No reason not to. Welp, I'm excited now. As long as it isn't a lottery event to get your in, like one of my friends worries it will be, I am totally excited. Edited February 1, 2015 by Guest

Skaf Posted February 1, 2015 Very cool. I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to make it that day yet but I like that they're organizing a new Dolpa in the US again. I wonder if they will offer limited items? Hopefully this will be a yearly event.
DivinitaAria Posted February 2, 2015 Got the email for this today and was excited!! I would love to go, but the location being on the west coast might not be feasible for me! Innocentsake Posted February 2, 2015 I was so pleased to see this e-mail when I woke up yesterday morning! Didn't ever really think they would hold another Dolls Party in LA. Unfortunately I was late to the game by the time I got into Dollfie Dreams so I never got the chance to attend their previous events though I read and heard all about them. This is an exciting chance to go to an event I've always wanted to attend. Really do hope that more information pours in sooner rather than later so everyone can get all their plans worked out. Since I'm local and will be off that whole week (what good luck ) I'll have no problem with being able to attend so long as I can get a ticket for the event. I'd really like to see Volks do something special for their DD fans for this Dolls Party. They always do such fun things like One-Offs or special items for their SD fans so it would be nice if we could get the same. Especially when they say that this Dolls Party is for Super Dollfie & Dollfie Dream owners. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see
Gunter Posted February 2, 2015 Booked my hotel room~ I'm making an extended visit (may as well, right?). I really hope to see something amazing for us too! I mean I probably won't leave with a doll (I'll be going on a longer trip instead of buying a doll), but I'd still love to see it. I'm super excited for this! I've been dying to go to a Dolpa and finally the chance has arrived!

guyngames Posted February 2, 2015 there will always be oppurtunities as long as you wait long enough for them to happen? I think that is a nice point. No one ever points out in this hobby of 'limited items' that if you wait long enough you will have an opportunity to pick-up the dolls you would like to own. Everything usually comes back around- especially if it sells well. Dolpa was finally announced and it looks like I will see you all there. I cannot wait to meet some of you in person. bethykins Posted February 2, 2015 Just checking as there is usually one in Japan around this time... Will there still be one in Tokyo in May aswell? I have a gorgeous family of DD girls See my profile for a list of my beauties!!
Gunter Posted February 2, 2015 Just checking as there is usually one in Japan around this time... Will there still be one in Tokyo in May aswell? Probably. This is being hosted by the Volks USA branch after all. They'll hire people within the states most likely to help with the event. I don't think they'd cancel the regular Tokyo Dolpa for a event this small. This is not gonna be anywhere near as big as a usual Dolpa is. there will always be opportunities as long as you wait long enough for them to happen? This is definitely true. I just didn't think it'd happen. Volks pretty much said they weren't going to do another LA Dolpa, and yet, here we are! Also that a great outlook on life in general. :
Cauldroness Posted February 2, 2015 I really hope they don't do another lottery for entry tickets or, if they do, they do it way in advance. For the NYC Dolpa in 2010, they didn't notify lottery ticket winners until the first week of May, and the event was June 19-20. For people who need to book flights, that's not nearly enough time to get a good deal (and imagine if someone bought a flight and then didn't win an entry ticket?!). And I'm assuming Volks realizes that some people may want to fly in, since the event is at an airport hotel? Although I didn't remember hearing any stories of anyone losing the ticket lottery for NYC... but with the success of Dollism Plus last September, who knows how popular this event will be? Gunter Posted February 2, 2015 DoA is pretty much clamoring with people who have already booked their hotel and are just waiting on the edge of their seat for more information. I even know people out of state who have booked their hotel room. I did worry about that as well, if it is a lottery event this could get kinda weird, but I really hope it isn't. Or worst case if it is I win, and so does my friend who will be sharing the hotel room with me. >:
youth Posted February 3, 2015 Too bad they couldn't tie this in with an anime convention otherwise with the cost of flying in from the midwest this would only be worth it for me if they offered some sort of limited DD that I would have a good chance of getting. This is especially true if the company in question likes to mix things up as much as Volks does. Lottery or not, I'm sure you'll get to go and have a fantastic time no matter what comes your way. DivinitaAria Posted February 3, 2015 I sure hope the event isn't by lottery! The email makes it sound like you're in by saying, "You're invited!" If I am to go, I hope they get all the details out ASAP because I don't want to deal with expensive air fare @_@ Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
