US Dolpa! 9/5/15 in Los Angeles!

There should be an ATM around the hotel if you don't want to carry a big wad of cash around all the time

Right? This weekend is going to be the weekend of us seeing each other hehe Not sure if Volks will have DD parts for sale at the Dolpa. The other BJD cons they attended they usually just took whole dolls with them, painting & care supplies, and clothes. But it's always possible! If they have any SWS hands I'll have to get some for Mariko if I don't end up getting the Dress Up Box Set.

I can't wait to go it will be my first ever bjd meet/dolpa! Im excited to go and see everything. I will be bringing my Yu morisawa and my Ranko!

Heh, if they bring parts I'll have to remember to pickup a new pair of feet if possible to replace Yoko's broken one. Other than that I don't know of anything I'm going to specifically try for in the regular store part right now. I'll find out though!

Anybody know where there's free/cheaper parking? Or would it be better to just take taxi/uber?

For parking somebody on doa mentioned an airport parking lot nearby. Anyplace that has a shuttle, you can ride free to the airport then catch the Marriott shuttle. Area's a bit industrial so it's better than walking

Before I head to bed just wanted to give a head's up to everyone about parking. Someone on DoA managed to talk to someone at Marriott who found out the parking rate if you're attending the event (when I called I was transferred to a dead line). Parking will be $12 self parking and $25 valet. Just make sure to get the hotel to validate your parking ticket (from my experience you need to do this for the discount). Alright see you all tomorrow!

It really was great to meet so many people, like you for example. Seeing people from dollism again (shout out to innocentsake) was also great.

 

I wanted to thank you for the eyes though and i didn't get the chance to. They may be test eyes but they're perfect and basically the eyes I've been searching for for Lisette.

On them taking notice, i think they did. They brought a lot more DD stuff than i was expecting. At the tea party it felt like at least a third of the raffle prizes were DD related, including dolls and dollpoint wigs). They also included them in the maintenance instructional segment.

 

Basically the whole Shigeta family was there too. I also got the sense they did actually care about the overseas fans a lot but that there definitely is an aspect of just being slightly overwhelmed based on their size. Though, it also felt like it had been the children who pushed to have another US Dolpa.

I'm guessing Volks don't hold such events outside of Asia/USA?

I use the same eyes for my Rise too, it's the perfect size for her. Glad they worked out!

I haven't been to any other Volks events so I was surprised to see the owners there. With all the stores and events I forgot it's still a fairly mid-size family owned business. They did seem to be pretty surprised with the quantity and enthusiasm of the fans. My 09 girl got a lot of interest and compliments, so that's my contribution to the 'bring 09 to USA' campaign
