The whole bat thing started when I was talking to Mitsuki years ago about my Rei and how she wanted to be a maid. I'd seen very few photos of DD weapons back in 2010 so when I was in Japan then, anytime I saw something that resembled a weapon, I bought it. That bat used to be a trinket sold at baseball games over there and I think it's quite old. I got it at a matsuri ( festival ) at a shrine in Osaka for 300 yen. As soon as I got it home and into Rei's hands, she named it Batou ( after her favorite anime character from "Ghost in the Shell" ) and has never looked back. Rei uses it mainly to keep Manami in line but as a Battle Maid, she has to keep up her image of being the strong leader who takes no BS from anyone. After seeing Rei in her maid uniform with Batou, Mitsuki dubbed Rei "Uncompromising Battle Maid Rei" and Rei took that and ran with it. She loves being in charge and she's quick to dispense justice with Batou. And since her brigade is a battle ready one, each maid MUST have her own weapon to help in protecting the house. Other stuff you may have seen before but a few I know haven't been uploaded. Like this one of Mamimi with Mai's default eyes. I didn't have any eyes for her yet, they were on order, so instead of having her sit there with no eyes I gave her Mai's defaults to hold her over. It wasn't her best look but I could already tell she was going to be super cute. She was so happy to be all kinds of flexible that she made sure to do some posing for me showing it off. I dressed all the girls in kimonos and then wandered around the park all day doing shots of them in different poses and areas. Here's highlights from that trip. I'm just glad I could find different ones that "fit" each girl well enuff. And thanks about Mai! It's good for her to fans as I think her sculpt is WAY underrated. I find her beautiful no matter what eyes or wig she has. But finding *my* Mai was difficult, she did go thru loads of iterations before finally getting the look she was after. I'm very happy you like her as she is now. Thank you for this thread of your memories! You have great DD family and one of the most famous I think. I don't see my girls or DD family as "famous" tho so it's very funny to me to hear them described like that. But I do realize I've been in this hobby for almost 5 years now and I talk to almost everyone I can so that tends to leave a bit of a footprint online. I just like to talk and have fun and share pics! But I'm glad you enjoy seeing my familys progression over the years. I find it interesting too for dobleepenting how my family grows and changes over time. It's nice to be able to go back to day one to see where I came from and where I'm going. I think everyone should take as many pics of their DD's as they can just so they can do the same thing in the future. Having fun with them is what this hobby is all about!
