nao Posted March 9, 2015 I've received my new Melty from Volks some weeks ago, and i just discover that an eye has a crack in it I didn't notice it immediately, because it's very small, and with my interior light, it's barely visible. This week end, we had some great sunlight in the apartment, so i took advantage of that to take some picture of her. That's when i load those pictures in lightroom that i knew something was wrong. I can't post picture yet, but you can see the issue here: tinyurl(dot)com/p78ot3m The first three pictures are some close-up i just took to show you the crack in details. The last one was when i noticed the crack for the first time this week end. As you can see, it's small and not very visible. But now i know it's here, I'm seeing it every time. It's my first limited DD, and I'm really sad she is already damaged. I mean, it's not really a big deal, i guess i can buy a new pair of eyes. But I feel like she is already loosing his value, and i kinda like these eyes. I've tried to contact Volks about it (don't get any answer yet), but i wanted to know if something like this already happened to any of you? Do you think Volks will do something about it? Like sending me a new pair of eyes or something?
sleepywolf Posted March 9, 2015 Took a look at the pictures and to me it looks like there's something stuck to the outside of the eye rather than a crack in it. Perhaps some hot-glue residue. Have you tried lightly poking at the defect with an object that won't scratch the eye, like a wooden toothpick, to see if it can be removed? Cauldroness Posted March 9, 2015 Yeah, that definitely does not look like a crack. It looks like some particulate -- a spare strand of hot glue, a vinyl shaving from the manufacturing process, perhaps even something she picked up in your home -- that you should probably be able to remove without too much fuss. nao Posted March 9, 2015 Damn, i feel so stupid right now I was trying unsuccessfully with a cotton swab when i first thought it was a cloth fiber or something. But you are absolutely right, with a toothpick, i managed to remove it. This was just some glue or putty they used to fix the eye, like you said. I was so worried about that, i immediately think the worst while it was actually nothing I'm so sorry. Thanks sleepywolf! I'm relieved now.
