IS it hard to put a DD head on a resin body?

Recommended Posts

I'm asking because I want a 70 cm doll and I don't think we'll see one in Vinyl before a while. There,s the Obitsu 65 cm body but the internal squeleton is prone to breakage and a lot of my friends just changed all their vimyl dolls to be DDs.

I wanted a DD head still looking for one that would be perfect but I need to know if people have done this hybridation before.

The original DD1 bodies were strung just like a resin doll is and the heads are exactly the same as they are now so I'd think it would be very easy to put a DD head onto a resin body. The only thing to worry about is the size/scale difference between a 58-60cm doll head and a 70cm body.... the proportions may be a bit off and the head might look too small on the body. But for fitment, you should be able to use the "S" hook inside the head to hold it in place well enuff.

I've put a DD head on a resin MSD body without trouble. Larger dolls have more string tension, though, I'm not sure that the strings/S-hook on a 70cm doll wouldn't damage the soft vinyl head after a while. I haven't tried it, I just imagine the pressure might not be good for the vinyl.

Hmm, that's a good point. Maybe you could put some type of metal or plastic washer inside the head between the "S" hook and the string in order to displace the stress across the washer/spacer instead of the vinyl itself? Just an idea I had, not sure if it would work but it sounds like it should.

I believe galatia9's 07 boy is on a big resin body, maybe you could poke her for info on string tension etc?

With a craft knife, I trimmed out part of the oval shape in the bottom of the DD head to make enough room for the elastic to be pulled up. Here's what it looks like before I cut the oval out.

I threaded a ribbon through the elastic and pulled it up through the hole. Then I used a plastic neck donut inside the head for the hook to rest on, so the hook wouldn't damage the vinyl.

Head mobility is great! (It's a 60cm Bobobie body.)

Someone on these boards was using tennis balls for DD2 heads. Baldylox? Billy? Battrastard? Who wants to plead guilty? (It *was* funny as hell. But, Lily would never stand for it.)

Nope, wasn't me. I think it was Battrastards friend who was waiting for a head for their Suigentou.

And about colors, does it match ?

Is the tension of the string does not affect the head ?

Of course the tennis ball didn't match. It was green and fuzzy with a smiley face drawn on it.

Many resin bodies do not match DD heads. I used a Bobobie normal body and the match is all right with DD normal and better with DD SWS. DD normal heads tend to match better with pink resin rather than yellow resin.

The string tension can definitely damage the vinyl head. As I showed in an earlier picture, I used a plastic neck donut to rest the hook on.
