Ayuuya Posted April 10, 2015 Wow, it's been exactly 1 year and 1 day since I first started collecting DD;;; 2014 - 5 & 1 floating head 2015 - 1 + 4 on layaway ( 3 preorders: Sheryl, Ranka & Snow Miku. 1 thru marketplace ) |D I was actually planning on slowing down on DD collecting this year to focus more on BJD collecting, but it seems like my wallet will be empty for a long time... kymaera Posted April 16, 2015 3 pages in and no one has generated a graph yet? Inconceivable! I'm averaging 1 about every 3 months myself.
Poofiemus Posted April 17, 2015 3 pages in and no one has generated a graph yet? Inconceivable! *Spanish accent* You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
SisterKyoya Posted April 18, 2015 LOL! Can't go wrong with Princess Bride. So, does a 'new girl' count only if complete, or do floating heads qualify? Mimiyo3 Posted October 16, 2015 I got Miku and Sasara in early July, ordered Snow Miku then as well, and have my first custom almost ready by now, plus I plan on getting another around Christmas time so I'd like to get around 2 to 4 a year depending. I imagine past a point it will slow down. I also don't think I could ever part with any of them so I'm in for a huge doll family I think! Present! Miku, Aria, Celia, Melody, Aveline, Rin T, Ted, Chi, Yumi, Melanie, Rin K, Len, Ea, Alter, Illya, Rachel, Aelia, Matt, Jace, & E.N.O. W.I.P. Rose, Tara Waiting Hannah, Lucy, Sonya. Minuette Posted October 16, 2015 My acquisition pattern seems to be about 1 a year. For my last two girls they were priced in a way that I just couldn't say no to either. When I got Nia there were actually two girls I was deciding between, but ultimately Nia's rarity won. :
Eustia Posted October 16, 2015 It's been a rapid spiral for me. 19 months since I got my first girl, and now I have eight essentially complete, one in progress and one pending. >.< Though since I built most from scratch (or even second hand parts) I haven't spent quite as much as buying character girls would have cost. Sheryl will be my first premade girl. And she won't even remain Sheryl.
Thespian Posted October 16, 2015 My family is growing rather quickly for my liking, but I feel like it's more-or-less alright as long as I slow down now I preordered Snow Miku back in February, bought a DDH-01, then surprised myself by finding a reasonably priced Mariko on Mandarake, and then a deal on a gorgeous DDH-05 that I couldn't resist. So now I have 1 full doll, 1 incoming, and 2 in progress in the span of 8 months! I'm definitely calming down until I can finish up the ones I have, since I don't want to sit around with them unfinished. It's mostly saving up for bodies, wigs, and clothes. Syaorandc Posted November 5, 2015 I am averaging a little over 1 a year. I usually go Official, custom, official, custom, official, etc. Working on my 4th Custom and currently have 6 Official (with a 7th coming). So I'm a bit off on the customs. I plan to sell one of my official ones so I end up with a total of 10 (and stopping there for the foreseeable future)
Savaryne Posted November 6, 2015 This is only my second year collecting DDs and the fact that I only have 4 (well, 3 and a Smart Doll) I consider myself to be doing pretty good. I brought my first home early last year and it was almost a full year before getting my second early this year. I brought home my third DD just a couple months ago after not winning the lottery for Mariko. The Smart Doll was a surprise, I got her in a trade with a friend. So I technically didn't pay for her? Does it work that way? XD So averaging about 1-2 a year and I hope to keep it that way. I have Snow Miku pre-ordered for next year so we'll see how it goes... Originally my plan was to have only three, one on each body type and in each skin colour. That plan has gone out the window, so I'm going to try to limit myself to no duplicates in exact body type and skin colour. I honestly don't have too many more on my wish list that I really have to own. Alisa, Nanoha, Mariko, Saber Alter and if I ever win the actual lotto - Sasara T_T
xhuxhurocket Posted November 6, 2015 When I first started collecting I only averaged .5 girls per year; but that has changed drastically! This has been the year of the DD for me. I've bought 2 complete dolls, one head & body separately, and one currently floating head this year alone. I'll have that floating head on a body before the year's end. So 4 DD in a year seems like quite a lot to me. I'll be focusing on wardrobes after Lucy gets her body. I like to have one really nice, high end outfit per doll that they stay dressed in most of the time, but I'm wanting to start mixing in more casual wear for my girls. Eustia Posted November 9, 2015 My tenth girl just arrived yesterday. That's ten in 20 months. Averaging one every two months is rather unsustainable, as I am running out of space for them, and obviously the financial side certainly adds up. Even if I made most of my girls from base bodies, rather than the larger cost of character girls. Once heads, clothes, wigs and accessories are factored in, it is probably fairly close in price anyway. >.< This hobby is quite troublesome. ^^;
Amara77 Posted November 10, 2015 I thought I was getting out of control...reading through this thread makes me feel much better hahaha I get a couple of girls a year, mostly just heads though they share bodies. This year I got I was pretty out of control ... My plan for next year is to focus on the girls I already have, rather than acquiring new dolls. Hopefully I can stick to that. http://amara77.wordpress.com blog and shop Spoke too soon....

soapbubbleseal Posted November 10, 2015 A little too often. I have a bad habit of throwing low bids on used/damaged dolls on Yahoo!Japan Auctions, so I ended up with three new unplanned DD's in the last month alone. As far as actual planned purchases go... I probably get 3-4 new BJD's per year. it's all daijoubu baby
