I love the sound of this project! As far as dye goes, it should be powder, not liquid. I can't find the quote, but I did specifically read that in one of the tan dye threads.

I found the quote on the 8th page of the tan skin thread. I was trying to figure out where I had seen it, and decided to sit down and re-read it all!

 

I'm super excited to get this project going. It is taking all of me to not jump on Mitsuki's 09 head. XD

I'm not saying you shouldn't jump on the head... but wouldn't it just be awful if there wasn't one available later? ;D August may complain if you don't have her maid home soon? (for reference this was a joke... kind of.)

 

For the maid outfit, have you looked at the ones available on Coolcat? I think I remember Billy saying he emailed them about an out of stock one and they made him a custom one. Granted, it was a while ago and they may not be able to do that anymore... but still worth it to look in to? Their maid outfits are so cute.

I think she would be super cute! Dying is rather easy, just be careful with the harder parts, they dye faster than the rest and darker. Also, if you think you have enough dye, get double that. XD From my experience if there is too much water in the mix the dying will come out light. Unless that's what you want.

Oho? Really? I love their maid outfits but indeed their sold out status makes me cry a little. I may have to check into that. I was trying to be more modest but honestly I literally can't find any of said style in the DD world without me absolutely hating the top part. >: Oh well~

 

The complicated part is....what size do I order? I guess DY cause I'mma probably bump her up to a L bust instead of the M bust on the DY body.

Yeah, I remember seeing that. That insanely fast dye is gonna be fun to work with. I really want her quite dark. I mean, I want you to tell for sure that this girl is dyed no matter what. Ya know? Hmm, so wait, how much of the dye should I order? And what's that look like in measurement terms? Or is it just kinda "well just add a bit more....."

For the head, if you want to use a limited one like Miku, I would suggest for a trial and error first. Like trying with a junk DD head that is also SWS, although you have to spend on more dye this way.

Or maybe paradox/obitsu head, but not really a good choice as they're not near the SWS tone and the result may looks different from intended.

 

If you have perfected the mastery of dying, you can be pretty confidence in using any head. I mean if on the first try you're already using the 09 head, if it not a lucky one, it may end up bad. While it's a standard one, it doesn't considered cheap compared to other standard.

 

Just my advice though, so just do whatever you think works. Good luck!

Actually, no matter what I'm doing a 09 head for that very reason. She's standard. This is my trial and error and allows me to get a feel for the dying process. From what I can tell the worst I could do is burn the head, or dye it too dark. I think the first one is the worst possible outcome and it is an easy one to avoid.

 

Dying too dark....I'm probably going to dip it more than once so I think I can manage to skip that? We'll see. XD I've been told the dye is pretty much the same no matter if it is NS or SWS so that's an interesting tid bit.

I did indeed email them about a maid set that they had listed as sold out and they made one for me that was custom fit to my Rei. They were very nice to deal with and the quality of the outfit is amazing. The only drawback is that those outfits are NOT cheap.... I'm talking expect prices above $200 for a full set. But if you want the best looking maid set out there and you want it to fit your girl perfectly then it is worth every damn penny you'll spend on it. They're also lined on the insides so your girl will not get stained. I had my Rei in her black and white set for months and she never got even a hint of a stain anywhere. I highly recommend those outfits if you can get them.

 

Otherwise you're either going to have to go for the regular issue Volks ones or find something custom on Yahoo Japan. Or you can always go for maid sets on Alices Collections. Theirs aren't nearly as well made as Volks or Cool Cats but for the money they still look nice enuff. I have several of these and I'm quite happy with them.... you can even have them custom tailored to fit a DD or DDdy girl, you just have to email them about whether or not the outfit is available to be custom tailored. It'll cost you a few bucks more but it's nothing expensive.

If you're going to email them about making a custom one, I would tell them that you intend to do an L-bust on a Dy body. They could fit it that much closer that way.

Yeah, I noticed haha. I don't mind the pricetag cause I've had stuff from them before and I know I like it quite a bit. I'll have to just ask about it. I'm patient too. If I don't get it I don't mind waiting out for the PERFECT one to appear. I'd buy a Saber one if the staining didn't irritate me.

 

I don't touch Alice Collection. Anything that carries bootleg stuff generally I avoid. ^^;; I dun care if it just Volks outfits. But I've already gotten a nice list from Taobao and a few other peeps that make stuff I like. I wish an open collar with a modest skirt existed, but it doesn't, and thus I'm left to going mini skirt. I Don't mind though cause I wanna see those legs~

OH that's a smart idea. Hmmm.

Gave up on DDH09 because I'm impatient and I've become too partial to her sweeter looks. Makes it hard to stay with my idea to make her cold. SO! We are now doing a DDH07. I bought a close eyed head from Volks, and will personally be opening the eyes myself. I may change the shape a tiny bit because of that, but we'll see. ^^;;

 

The dye has been bought! And my body is here! I even decided on her eyes (I am going to use Alter's defaults for now) and I know my wig but Leeke needs to stop havin' an issue with their site....I may just buy her wig from DDE at this rate even if it isn't exactly what I want. >:
